The sun was shining, the birds were chirping and Oh Sehun's hair was...

The moment he regained consciousness, his hand flew to his hair. Other than the obligatory beadhead, everything felt in order. But the morning could still be full of surprises and Sehun was cautious as he got up.

"Don't trust me?", Baekhyun called from beside the chest of drawers on his side of the room.

Sehun turned to look at him with a dazed expression, he hadn't even realised the other man's presence until that moment. The fact that Baekhyun had just gotten fresh out of the shower with glistening hair and a shirtless torso didn't help Sehun's dazed look. Huh, not what I would have expected, Baekhyun.

Before he could stop himself, Sehun found his eyes locking on to a lone bead of water and watching as it trailed down from Baekhyun's collarbone to the waistline of his jeans. It was almost mesmerising.

Sehun's lack of verbal response made Baekhyun look up from turning his shirt in the right way and almost caught Sehun in the act. Sehun looked away and ran a hand through his hair as though trying to tame it, "I'm not sure why but I do trust you. Mostly". Baekhyun could hear the morning in his voice and for some reason that made him smile to himself.

"We made a deal", Baekhyun raised an eyebrow before slipping his shirt on over his head. Sehun was almost disappointed. Not that he liked Baekhyun. He just could appreciate a toned torso that was all.

Stupid Jongin. He's made this weird.

"We didn't shake on it", Sehun shrugged, "I wasn't sure if you were the kind to be so petty over that".

Now Baekhyun was towel drying his hair, somehow managing to make it look even more styled than when he spent hours on it. "I'm not that kind of person, a verbal agreement is still an agreement to me. But if it'd make you more comfortable...", he trailed off.

Sehun shrugged, "I think it would".

Baekhyun nodded in understanding, "Alright, well Oh Sehun, I promise not to do anything to you whilst you're unconscious", he held out a hand.

Sehun stared at it for a beat longer than necessary, but without a second thought Sehun clasped the other man's hand in his and repeated the deal back to him. He couldn't help but notice how soft Baekhyun's hands were, how delicate his fingers were.

When they both had their hands back to themselves, Sehun unconsciously rubbed his thumb over one of the areas of contact. It was a few moments before he realised he was doing it and mentally scolded himself for it.

Why are you acting like such a creep Sehun? Obviously it's because Baekhyun's just had a shower - of course his hand would be soft.

Baekhyun just continued to get ready for the day, none the wiser to Sehun's internal monologue.

The camp was fortunate enough to have a large river running through one of the areas. This river then opened up into a small lake and from the information leaflet, there was a scenic waterfall to be seen at the end. Today's activity, funnily enough, involved said river. Baekhyun was smiling that morning until they got the first activity briefing.

"Today we'll be starting off by kayaking down Gusang namu's very own river!", Chanyeol grinned at the small crowd. There was murmuring amongst the groups before Chanyeol silenced them with his booming voice, "I know, I know, it's all very exciting. But first thing's first, I'll have to explain all of the safety procedures, how to use the kayaks etcetera etcetera". Sehun listened carefully and nodded in understanding. Doing quite the opposite was Baekhyun, who stood to Sehun's left and stared at the floor.

As Chanyeol instructed how to put on the safety vests and how to sit in a kayak, Sehun noticed the slight change in Baekhyun's demeanour. Does he look paler than earlier?

Sehun's eyes travelled over Baekhyun's face, ignoring the detail in his delicate features and focusing instead on his expression, "Are you okay?".

He didn't hear Sehun at first and continued to stare at the floor.

"Baekhyun?".

Baekhyun looked up at Sehun with a fearful expression.

"Are you alright?", Sehun asked again.

Baekhyun looked over at Chanyeol who was checking the fastenings on the safety vests, "I- I can't", he stopped.

Sehun's features drew together in concern, "You can't what?".

Baekhyun looked back at Sehun then, "Swim. I can't swim".

Oh.

And he voiced his singular thought, "Oh".

Baekhyun chuckled dryly, "I always knew that'd come back to bite me in the ".

Sehun frowned sympathetically, "I know it may not seem like much of a consolation but those safety vests, if we do fall in, they'll keep us afloat".

Baekhyun looked weary, "What if I fall out of the vest and into the water?".

"That won't happen".

"But if it did?"

"It won't".

Baekhyun sighed quietly and looked at the floor once more.

Jongin and Kyungsoo had already gotten their safety jackets on and checked by Chanyeol, now they were on their way to choose their kayaks. The pair glanced back at Sehun and Baekhyun now and then, Kyungsoo making comments about leaving Sehun on his own with him and Jongin smiling to himself.

Chanyeol continued to talk throughout their conversation. "If you do end up falling in, don't panic. Either myself or the other camp leader", the other camp leader waved, "will come and get you. Just wait there and you'll be out of the water in no time".

"Do you promise I won't drown?", Baekhyun eyed the kayak he had been paired with cautiously.

"I promise. If you drown, who's going to be the victim of all of those pranks I've set up for later on today?"

Baekhyun rolled his eyes, "Wow thanks that's really reassuring. I can't wait to not-drown".

Sehun smiled purposely, "You're welcome".

The entry of the kayak in the water seemed to be the hardest part for Baekhyun, he stepped forward to go then stopped mid-way multiple times. Eventually he managed to pluck up the courage to do something he never could have imagined himself doing. And that was it, he was in the water. It seemed he was unable to believe it, that he, Byun Baekhyun, was in a kayak in water.

"Sehun look!", Baekhyun laughed, holding onto the oar for dear life. Sehun couldn't help but laugh back; Baekhyun looked terrified but he had done it.

If only I was brave enough to face up to my own fears.

Another camp leader besides Chanyeol tailed back behind them when everyone else was in the water. Chanyeol led the way whist the unnamed camp leader made sure everybody was okay. Baekhyun was a little unsteady in his rowing, causing the kayak to wobble now and then but Chanyeol's instructions for them all helped him keep upright.

Despite getting their safety vest and kayaks before both Sehun and Baekhyun, Jongin and Kyungsoo were behind them in the water - not that they had any preferences.

The river was a lot wider than Sehun had imagined it to be; at least three Kayakers could go side by side without fear of hitting someone else's oar. They, however, went side by side in twos.

"Just in case you guys need some spin zone", Chanyeol had told them.

Sehun had never been on a kayak before in his life and this trip was certainly opening him up to new experiences. He seemed to be getting the hang of it fairly quickly though.

The journey was, for the most part, quiet. Trees surrounded them on either side of the river and the lapping of water against the kayaks made this moment, much like many other moments in this activity camp, peaceful.

They all seemed to be enjoying themselves, especially Baekhyun. And nobody had fallen into the water.

Sehun didn't think he'd mind if he fell in. The water was almost so crystal clear that it seemed like they weren't swimming through anything. He could see the small rocks at the bottom of the river, fast, carefree fish swimming in unison. And he could see his reflection, staring back at him.

I wonder how Kyungsoo found this place.

They were coming up to the lake now and Sehun could already hear the crashing force of the waterfall.

"We're- We're not going to go over the waterfall are we?", Baekhyun froze solid.

Sehun cocked an eyebrow and looked ahead, "No. I'm assuming it's on the other side of the lake".

Baekhyun looked surprised, "You can tell that?".

Sehun laughed, "No, but a place like this would have to complete risk assessments about everything. If someone who'd only just learnt the basics of kayaking went over a waterfall and injured themselves? That'd damage the reputation of the camp and could cost them quite a sum too".

"Oh, right. Yeah", Baekhyun adjusted his grip on the oar and smiled, "We've done pretty well".

Sehun nodded and gently slashed the oar into the water, watching as the ripples expanded to disappear into nothing, "I guess we have".

Anyway, I ended up writing too much for this chapter so I've split it in two and I'm not too fond on the way this section ended. Ah well. I should be updating again tomorrow! Two updates in one weekend?! Me?!
