"WHAT?!" Sooyoung cried. Almost immediately, Kris placed his cool hand over , causing her to blush and passing students (all girls) to scowl in envy.

"Sorry," she said in a lower tone. "You're a wolf?!"

"I'm sorry," Kris said quietly. Sooyoung glanced at him quickly and, to her shock, his eyes were glistening with tears. She frowned and wiped them with her thumb.

"Don't cry, Kris. I don't care if you're a wolf," she grinned and whispered, "I will always be prepared to love you. So how did you become one?"

"Can I just text you? There are a lot of people and class is going to start soon."

"Okay. And of course I won't tell...unless you want me to."

Sooyoung earned a playful smack on her arm. "Why would I want you to tell? I'm not that stupid!"

She giggled.

LATER, THE WU RESIDENCE

Pale light poured into the room as a teenage boy slipped into sleep. Gentle melodies played in his head as strange faces came in and out of focus. Sooyoung floated in front of him, her customary crooked grin playing on her new features.

A small sigh escaped his lips as the dream abruptly ended. He turned over on his side as another face formed from mist. He didn't recognize her, but she must be important.
