HIGHWAY
Eternities
XXVI. HAK YEON
It was a clear night sky...
I clutched onto the steering wheel and kept my eyes open as I scanned the busy road. As I passed by the city lights, I felt this slight bliss in my stomach. The city is such a wonderful place, especially when nighttime comes. Everyone is wide awake and b with life, the same goes for the place filled with bright and colorful neon bulbs and cars honking at each other here and there. I drove right under the highway with these light posts that emitted some sort of yellowish light. I kept going straight ahead with my destination in mind as I fastened my pace, like something was chasing me from behind.
When suddenly, out of nowhere, this red car came into the scene. Everything was so sudden... Everything passed by in a blink of an eye. I didn't know what happened. I couldn't catch even a glimpse of it. I couldn't understand what occurred. I wasn't even able to grasp the whole situation.
The only thing that I was certainly well aware of was that something hit my head. Hard. And it caused me to fall unconscious... Probably even caused me my life.
And then... I heard this loud, mocking laugh beside me. A familiar laugh that brought me back to my senses. Jae Hwan's laugh.
I snapped out from staring into space and glared at Jae Hwan who was sitting next to me, almost biting on his controller to maybe stop his endless snickering. I couldn't believe it. I died. I lost to this idiot. He beat me at my own game! "Hah! You lost! I told you I'm good at racing games~" Jae Hwan stuck his tongue out at me. "Funny." Ticked off, I slapped his shoulder and restarted the game.
