STARLIGHT
EternitiesXIII. HAK YEON
I have always adored stars my whole life.
My mom had read me tons of books about stars everyday since young. She said that by the time I've seen a shooting star in the night sky, I need to wish upon it. Eventually, it will come true. But not for me, for I have never seen a star in my lifetime.
As a kid, I would always go to my secret and precious spot - Enchanted Hill, which was a few miles away from our house and a fifty minute drive from the town. There, I would spend my time running endlessly, barefooted. As the first grass of spring would tickle my toes, I would look up and search for a star.
However, until now, I haven't found anything.
Not a single star.
Today I climbed the hill again. I caught something striking by the corner of my eye. It was glowing, and shiny... I ran towards it, and I ended up finding a sparkling girl. She wore a sheer dress, with big eyes and rosy cheeks. The ends of her hair had a natural curl in it. I gulped, for no one had ever been to my hiding spot besides me. To all honesty, I've never seen this girl - Not in town, not anywhere.
Gathering my courage, I tapped her shoulder. She jumped a little and turned her head around. "...Yes?" She spoke in monotone. Might as well add in that she really is twinkling. I kept silent for a while as she fluttered her eyelashes. "W-Who..." I stuttered and pointed at her.
"Where'd you come from?" I changed the question.
"Me? I came from there..." She pointed at the abyss-like sky.
"You mean the night sky?"
"Yes."
I tilted my head. Mother, it seems like I've found my star.
