A man was walking lifelessly through the silent hallway. He plopped down onto the bench and bent his body forward. He placed his elbows on his knees and rested his head on his palms.

That man was Kris.

“We will do the surgery now! Get the surgeon here as soon as possible and transfer Mrs. Wu to the operation room!” The doctor announced right after Kris told him about what happened to Chan Kyung.

“Mr. Wu, I know you are in the state of shock but we will do the surgery now as she is battling with her own life. Please pray for her safety.” The doctor tapped Kris’s shoulder a few times and headed towards the operation room.

The nurses were taking off the tubes that were stuck onto his wife’s body and pushed the bed to the operation room. Kris stood still.

He felt like his whole world was collapsing right in front of him.

Everything happened too fast that he couldn’t digest things properly. He asked Chen to bring Yi Kyung away because he thought that he may be couldn’t control his feelings with people around him.

He can’t handle his own self.

That’s why he needs Chan Kyung.

“I am sorry for keeping you away from your mommy, Yi Kyung-ah…” Kris mumbled. He sighed and closed his eyes; imagining that everything will be alright.

It did, it calmed him down a bit. Even though the storm was raging in his empty heart, his family’s smile cooled him down.



Chen was having a hard time to calm the crying Yi Kyung. He has been crying nonstop in the car and that concerned Chen a lot.

“I want mommy! Send me back to her! I want mommy!” He cried hysterically.

“Yi Kyung-ah, mommy can’t see you now. We will go to the park okay? We will pluck flowers for your mommy.” Chen convinced.

“No! I don’t want flowers! I want mommy!” He stomped his feet and it sent vibrations throughout the car.

“Don’t do this, Yi Kyung-ah. Your mommy will be alright!” Chen tried to convince him again.

“Then why is she in the hospital? You told me that people in the hospital are sick! What happened to mommy?!” The tears fell from his small eyes onto his pale cheeks.

“Yi Kyung, stop this instant. Uncle is mad.” Chen said strictly.

The boy’s sobs subsided a bit after what Chen had told him.

Chen knew that this action was not good; scaring child. But this action was necessary because he has to stop this boy from talking about his mother.

Why…? Because it hurt Chen too.

Yi Kyung is like his son and it hurt him seeing him crying miserably like this. And it hurt him too, the fact that Kris pushed him away with his child from waiting Chan Kyung. He knew Kris was a bad-tempered person but he was sure that he can control it in front of his son.

“I… I want m-mommy…” Yi Kyung leaned back against the passenger’s seat and wiped his endless tears.

“Uncle knows, Yi Kyung. Uncle wants to meet mommy too but she can’t meet us now. We pluck flowers for her and surprise her, okay?” Chen patted the younger boy’s hair. “Now, don’t cry. You look like your dad when you cry, ugly.” Chen chuckled.

“My father is handsome!” Yi Kyung exclaimed.

“Really? I bet you haven’t seen him crying just yet…” Chen shook his head and continued
