Gone
If I Die YoungLeeteuk’s POV
“Hyung, if you were there, it wouldn’t have happened. You were serving the country, hyung. I’m sure they passed on proudly.”
What was going on? What in the world was happening? Ryeowook wasn’t responding. Why wasn’t Ryeowook waking up? I shook him harder but still, the body wouldn’t move. Ryeowook… My sweet sweet Ryeowook. I don’t believe this.
“WAKE UP RYEOWOOK! WAKE UP!!!”
I slapped Ryeowook, I shook his body, I shouted in his ears but Ryeowook wouldn’t move. Ryeowook was always stubborn. Yes, he always was. But… He’d always respond to me with a smile and his bright innocent eyes. But why wasn’t he doing just that now?
Ryeowook, please wake up.
Touching his neck again, I desperately looked for any beating movement. I switched from his neck, to his wrist and then to his chest. Why wasn’t his heart beating? Hearts are on the left side of the chest right? Right? Right????
“SUNGMIN!!!”
Sungmin ran into the room in a matter of seconds. Looking at my panicked expression, Sungmin froze while I continued shouting for Ryeowook, continued shaking him. Sungmin looked from me and to the unconscious Ryeowook and his face fell. He knelt beside me and touched my thighs, tapping it softy.
“Hyung, calm down, hyung.” Sungmin whispered softly. “Calm down.”
“What’s going on? Why is Wookie not breat-”
I just couldn’t continue. Sungmin sat on the bed and I moved back, sobbing. Sungmin closed his eyes and shook Ryeowook. He called out for Ryeowook a couple of times but again, there was no response, no movement…
Nothing.
Sungmin’s eyes sparkled as he moved his fingers from Ryeowook’s neck, to his wrists and to his chest. His hands were trembling too and after he double checked, he closed his eyes and rested his head against Ryeowook’s.
“Hyung, please wake the others up.”
Sungmin whispered, his voice cracking. I didn’t know what was going on. I didn’t want to know. Rushing ou of the room, I ran straight to Kangin’s. I burst into tears and quickly shook his body. If Kangin wouldn’t respond too, I’d scream. I’d scream at the whole world. This was no happening. I refused to believe it.
“Hyung, what’s wrong?”
Kangin muttered, his eyes cracking open sleepily. When he saw me crying, he sat up straight in his bed. I wanted to tell him, wanting him to safe Ryeowook but I couldn’t do anything. I collapsed against him and Kangin caught me. Kangin looked worried, his eyes sparkling with concern.
“Hyung, why are you crying? What’s going on?”
Kangin held me tight and his voice was getting desperate as my tears got worse. I sobbed into Kangin’s chest and Kangin held me close to his beating heart. There was a heart beat in Kangin, there was a heart beat in mine.
But there wasn’t in Ryeowook’s.
“He’s gone, Youngwoon.”
“He’s gone.”
Sungmin’s POV
“Please don't cry, hyung. Please be strong for me."
Leeteuk wouldn’t let go of Ryeowook. Kangin exchanged glances with me and he nodded for me to go out and inform the others. Right now, we needed to be strong. Our pillar, our strength was counting on us. Walking out of the room with heavy steps, I squeezed my eyes and begun sliding down against the door.
He’s gone.
My Ryeowook. Our Ryeowook. Lifeless. I did everything I could; I tried shouting at him, begging him, talking to him. I even did CPR but nothing, there was nothing. Ryeowook was taken away. Ryeowook was gone in his sleep. Clutching onto my shirt, I cried harder thinking of last night. Ryeowook was having so much fun, all of us were! It wasn’t fair. We were supposed to be going to the rented mansion today. We were supposed to be laughing our off by now by another joke by Shindong.
We were supposed to be living together for him.
Biting onto my lower lip, I wiped my eyes. Leeteuk was having a mental breakdown in there and Kangin had to stay with him. It was up to me to break the news to the other members. I h
