FLASHBACK

"Krystal ah, aren't you having hot chocolate before you sleep?" Taemin entered her room quietly but he stopped talking when he realized that she was already asleep.

Kai also followed his hyung to her room with some cookies.

"Oh, she's already sleeping?" Kai said as he took a seat on her bed beside Taemin.

"Yeah.. As expected of my sleeping beauty" Taemin smiled softly at her.

"You know what, Kai ah?" Taemin said, caressing Krystal's sleeping face gently, "Rather than just a cousin, I'd like her to be my wife" 

His words gave an utter shock to his brother.

"Pardon?" He just can't bring himself to believe that his hyung loves their cousin.

"Yeah... I know that's weird but you know..." Taemin pulled up her blanket to make her feel warmer, "After growing up with her for my life-time, I think I kinda fell for her. I don't know since when but I couldn't bear to imagine Soojung with another guy"

Kai could see the blush on his hyung's cheeks as he continued his confession.

"I know since we're cousins and she only thinks me as a brother, we're not possible to get married. Not even dating" he sighed deeply. 

Frustration is evident in his sigh. 

"Why is God so unfair? Out of all people, why must the one I love have to be my cousin?" he said desperately.

A moment of silence took over after his confession. Taemin staring at Krystal and Kai looking back and forth between Taemin and Krystal.

Kai wanted to console his brother but no words came out of his mouth. He felt somewhat weird in his throat whenever he tried to say a word. 

Is it the sudden confession that made him confused or is it the fact that his heart skipped a beat when he heard that Taemin likes his crush?

None of them broke the ice but instead they went out of her room to let her sleep peacefully.

Krystal slightly opened her eyes to make sure that was only a nightmare. But it's not. It's reality.

Taemin's words kept ringing in her head....

That night, Kai had a sleepless night. He kept tossing and turning on his bed but he just can't fall asleep. Taemin's words kept ringing in his head.

"That's what I want to say as well, hyung" he said, looking up to the ceiling.

He didn't know since when but he started comparing himself and his hyung.

"Hyung had known Soojung for his life and he had been always by her side but... It hasn't even two months since I got here and get to know her"

He let out a deep sigh.

"Hyung knew everything when it comes to her but I'm still learning her favorites and dislikes from Taemin hyung and her friends"

He closed his eyes in dissatisfaction.
