You grimaced at the sight of her walking over, unconsciously pressing closer against Hoseok. Her name was Bo-Yun and ever since meeting her earlier that evening you had disliked her. Pretty and funny, Bo-Yun seemed to get along with absolutely everyone at the party. Mainly though, you thought she was being overly friendly with your boyfriend.

Normally you weren't too bothered when girls flirted with Hoseok, he never showed them any interest and if they stepped too far he was the one who pulled you closer, kissed you in front of them or gave some other hint that he was happily taken. But Bo-Yun was his ex and so far, despite her flirting, Hoseok hadn't done anything to stop her.

"Oh my gods, Woo Young just told me the funniest story!" Bo-Yun said as she came over, putting her hand on Hoseok's arm and leaning in close, as if she meant to tell only him the story despite you and two other people standing next to him.

Again, Hoseok did nothing to prevent the contact, only grinned and listened to the story, laughing when it was finished.

Who the heck stayed this good friends with their ex anyways? You wondered as you observed the two of them. Then again, why wouldn't he? Bo-Yun was a lot prettier than you and she was clearly more charismatic. It made perfect sense for Hoseok to still like her. Probably a lot more than he liked you.

You tried to tell your overactive mind to stop it but in your head there were already scenarios of how he'd leave you to go back to little miss perfect. You bit your tongue, stopping tears from forming in your eyes.

Hoseok looked over you with a grin, about to say something, but his words died on his lips as he saw your face. "Are you okay, _____?" He asked, sounding concerned.

"I'm fine," You replied quickly, "Just gonna go get some fresh air." You walked off to the balcony.

Behind you you heard Bo-Yun say: "Let her go, Seok-oppa. I'll keep you company while she's gone, okay~?" From her tone there was no doubt she was flirting. You fled outside.

To your surprise Hoseok joined you a moment later.

"Not staying inside with Bo-Yun?" You asked, unable to keep the spite from your voice.

"Of course not. You're my girlfriend, not her. Is that what's bothering you?"

You pouted. "No, of course I'm perfectly fine with my boyfriend's gorgeous ex practically throwing herself at him."

"______," Hoseok cupped your face, forcing you to look at him. You prepared yourself for excuses, for him to tell you it was nothing, that you were overreacting. Instead he surprised you again by saying; "I'm sorry."

"What?" Fear gripped you. Was Hoseok breaking up with you already?

He pulled back, looking hurt at your visible fear. "Do you trust me so little? Of course I wouldn't leave you for someone like Bo-Yun."

"Well you weren't exactly pushing her away! Besides, she's prettier than me and funnier and... I can see why you used to date her."

"Used to." Hoseok repeated. "Those are the key words, _____. I used to date her. Now I'm dating you." Hoseok sighed, pulling you towards him, his hands around your waist in a half hug, before continuing in a calm, reassuring tone. "_____, there's a reason I broke up with Bo-Yun and trust me when I say I never want to be with her again. I wanted to apologize for not realizing sooner she was flirting with me. I guess I'm so used to her acting like that that I didn't see it." He kissed your nose. "Forgive me?"

You looked down, feeling ashamed now of your insecurity.

"Hey," Hoseok pulled your face up to look at him again, looking directly into your eyes. "I swear, there's nothing between me and Bo-Yun anymore. And you're wrong, she's not more beautiful than you or funnier or smarter or anything. You're better than her in every way, ______. I love you, not her, alright?"

You felt a blush creeping onto your cheeks as Hoseok's words slowly registered in your brain. He said it so calmly, still speaking in the reassuring tone he had adapted at the start of his apology speech, but this was the first time he had told you he loved you.

You looked into his eyes and, seeing a slight tremble, you knew that he knew exactly what he had said; knew that right now he was the insecure one. Afraid you wouldn't believe him. Afraid you wouldn't say it back.

Your heart stilled, then. Hoseok didn't want that girl, he didn't want any girl other than you. How silly you had been to worry.

You leaned in, giving him a long kiss on the lips before replying: "I love you too."
