J-Hope - You'd Make Beautiful Babies
The BTS One Shot CollectionHoseok was sitting on the grass with his best friend, laughing at something she had just said. She was laughing as well and he couldn’t help but think how beautiful she looked. He shook his head, hoping she hadn’t caught him staring at her.
Truthfully Hoseok had had a crush on her since forever. He just couldn’t bring himself to tell her, too shy to make a move and too afraid to ruin their friendship.
A handful of kids ran past them, playing some game. They were shouting and laughing in the way only young children let themselves do. Suddenly she said; “You’d make really beautiful kids…”
“What?” Hoseok stared at her. He’d heard that wrong, hadn’t he?
Her face turned scarlet. “What? I mean… um…” She fidgeted nervously around for an excuse for her words. “Those are really cute kids?” She offered lamely.
Hoseok laughed, biting back the urge to immediately say ‘not as cute as you’. “That’s not what you said though.” Her blush increased and he was pretty sure he was blushing himself now.
“But of course I’d make beautiful babies!” Hoseok exclaimed, trying to lighten the mood. “I’m smoking hot, my genes are sure to make awesome kids.”
She laughed. “Maybe they’d be ruined if you passed down your huge ego.”
“Not if their mom was there to keep me in check.” Hoseok realized he was staring into her eyes, imagining them together with a family. Him saying something silly to their five year old son, she hitting him over the head and telling the kid not to listen to his idiot father.
He blinked the image away, looked down at the ground. With a pang he felt just how badly he wanted it to become a reality.
“She’d have to be some woman to keep you in check.” Her words brought his attention back to reality.
“Of course, I wouldn’t settle for anything less than amazing.” He told her, wondering if she’d see the compliment in there. Instead she looked down, a sadness crossing over her face.
“Of course.” She muttered. Hoseok didn’t know what was wrong with that statement, but since she hadn’t heard it properly he found himself continuing.
“She’d have to be gorgeous and funny, smart and rational… definitely able to keep me in check when I get too silly. She’d be caring and kind, she’d make a great mom for sure.” Her face darkened as he spoke and Hoseok couldn’t understand why. He didn’t want her to look sad, he was trying to compliment her. Eventually the most clear way of saying it he could manage fell from his lips. “She’d have to be a lot like you, ______.”
He saw her eyes widen, saw her lips part slightly. Not really gaping but close to it. He’d done it now, he’d finally said it. He felt cold sweat break out, felt scared of her wide eyed stare. Had he just ruined their friendship with those words?
Hoseok swallowed, opened his mouth to say something light hearted, to make it sound like it had been a joke. Before he could get a word out she spoke.
“Mine would have to be a lot like you too.”
“What?”
“Mine. My… guy. Future husband.” She didn’t look at him as she spoke, only stared at the ground with a blush colouring her cheeks a perfect rosy red.
Hoseok stared at her. Did she mean what he thought she meant? His heart beat at an incredible pace as he said his next words.
“I guess we’ll just have to marry each other then.”
