Chapter 4: spending some time together

Will this work?

YOUR POV

"Today was fun wasn't it?" My mum asked as we both sat on the couch

"mhhmmm, I guess" I mumbled "I'm just tired"

"well get some rest. Don't forget you're going to pick a cake with Hongbin tomorrow and you'll be spending the whole day with him" my mum grinned

I groaned "don't I get a day without having to worry about this wedding?"

My mum laughed as she went to go upstairs. I dragged myself upstairs and fell asleep.

The next day....

As I woke up I heard the sound of rain falling against my window "great, I hate rain and I'm spending my day with Hongbin." I said sarcastically.

I sighed as I changed into my blue jeans and grey sweater and a black trench coat. "At least I'm warm" I said wrapping my trench coat around my body.

I walked downstairs to greet my parents "good morning princess" my dad said as he saw me.

I nodded and drank my coffee that was prepared for me. I wasn't much of a morning person so I was half asleep. Just as my eyes were about to droop into darkness the doorbell rang and it opened revealing Hongbin. I looked  at Hongbin as he greeted my parents. He was wearing black trousers, a white shirt and a black trench coat. "Urgh now we really look like a couple with our coats" I said to myself.

I came to my senses when I saw my mum gesturing towards me. Hongbin smiled and I gave a shy smile.

"Ready to go?" Said Hongbin

"yeah, I'll just go get my bag" I said running up the stairs to find my handbag.

Hongbin was being such a gentleman. He opened the car door for me and even put my seatbelt on.

"Did you eat breakfast?" He said trying to make conversation

"no..I'm not a breakfast person" I mumbled

He took out a brown paper bag "I know you're not a morning person but you should eat breakfast...that's why I bought you some croissants" he smiled and handed me the bag "eat up"

"thank you" I smiled at his kindness "yah. Keep an eye on the road!" I said as he stared at me

The croissants were warm and filled with sweet butter. "Croissants are my favourite...did he remember that?" I thought to myself. My thoughts made me smile.

Just as I finished my croissant we arrived at the wedding cake venue. Hongbin got out of the car and opened my door for me. I muttered a small thanks as he took my hand. His hand was warm  and it felt nice and soothing considering the weather was so gloomy.

We tried so many different cakes. Who knew Hongbin had such a Sweet tooth? I laughed to myself.

"Do you like this one _______- ah?"

It was a creamy custard cake with white chocolate icing and strawberries on top. it looked so beautiful with three tiers.

"Yeah. I think this is my final choice" I said grinning

"good. Let's order this one" he said as he sat up.

All the arrangements were made and Hongbin and I left with smiles on our face.

"Where do you want to go now?"He said looking at me intently

"I don't know. Your decision" I answered

"okay then." He took my hand as we got into the car.

The next time we stopped we were at a lookout. No one else was here at the lookout. Even though the weather wasn't the best the scenery was still beautiful.

"Wooooooow." I said getting out of the car

"it's nice right?" Hongbin asked for my opinion

I just nodded. Hongbin took my hand and led me to a bench

"let's take a photo" he took his camera out  "hold this" he said as he took off his scarf from his neck. I took the camera in my hand questioning what he was doing

Suddenly he wrapped the long, grey scarf around the both of us. Hongbin took the camera from my hand and snapped the photo of us with big smiles and the scarf around us both.

The photo looked good and my smile was genuine. For once I was actually having a good time and my life didn't seem that hard.

"We really look good especially because of our matching coats" Hongbin laughed

"YAH. You copied my outfit didn't you?" I joked

We both laughed as he wrapped the scarf tighter around the both of us. His gentle and warm smile made my stomach flip. "Don't fall for him. It's only an arranged marriage. He would rather be with his girlfriend" I thought to myself

Hongbin took me home after spending most of our day at the lookout. It wasn't that bad as I thought it was going to be.

I sighed as I went to my room and laid down on the bed with smile reminiscing the day spent with Hongbin.
