Kris refused to leave his lover's side, only leaving every now and then when he had to. He was never gone longer than five or ten minutes, and then he returned loyally to Tao. Even though Mrs. Huang insisted that he at least go home and get a good night's rest, he said that he was fine, opting to stay with Tao in case his condition changed.

"Yifan, you need to go home and rest." She tried again. Tao had been in the hospital for a week and Kris looked like death warmed over.

He shook his head, placing his hand a top the one that sat perched on his shoulder. "I can't leave him." He muttered, feeling tears over come him. "I want to stay with him." Mrs. Huang sighed, running her hand through Kris' hair.

"I'm so glad that my son found someone like you." She said, leaning down to give him a peck on his forehead. "I'll be back in a little while, I have some things I need to take care of." She said, patting his shoulder softly. Kris nodded, his gaze falling back on Tao. He had called their friends to let them know what happened, and so far a few of them had been in.

Most of them had been out of town, either for work or visiting relatives, so it took a while for everyone to gather back. The last couple to arrive was Lay and Sehun.

He heard a soft knock on the door shortly after Mrs. Huang left. "Kris." Lay called from the door way. Kris offered him a small smile as he and a few of is friends filed in the room. "How is he?" Luhan asked, sitting down in the window sill with his boyfriend Kai. Sehun, Lay's boyfriend, put a hand on his shoulder. "We would have been here sooner." he said, giving Kris a squeeze.

"It's fine, you guys have lives. They put him in a coma a week ago so his brain could heal, but they stopped giving him the stuff at least three days ago." He picked up Tao's hands, lacing his fingers through Tao's. "He should have woken up hours later. Their worried he might have permanently slipped into a coma." Small gasps were heard around the room as the new settled on the two couples.

"Oh God, no." Lay whispered, going over and picking up one of Tao's hands. He was already so frail, Kris hated to see his boyfriend so weak, so helpless. "Tao," Lay started, feeling tears well up in his eyes. "Taozi, you have to wake up." He said, trying his hardest to stay calm and not burst into sobs. "I need my kicking best friend." He said, laughing slightly. "Who else is gonna help me beat Sehun when he's being an ?" Sehun laid his hand on Lay's shoulder quietly, letting his boyfriend speak.

"And who's going to help me burn cookies in the oven?" A voice asked from the doorway. They all turned seeing Kyungsoo and Suho join them in the room. "We need to burn stuff every now and then." He said, stepping up behind Lay. Kris smiled, looking at Tao. "That's right. You gotta wake up so we can make many more memories, like almost burning the house down." He couldn't hold in the chuckled that forced it's way up from his chest. He remembered that day like it was yesterday.

It had been his and Tao's one year anniversary, and the younger had wanted to do something nice for him, so he got Kyungsoo to help. Which ultimately resulted in almost burning their small house to the ground.

*Flashback*

"Kris is going to be so surprised." Kyungsoo said sitting down on the sofa. Tao nodded, sitting down as well. "What's going to surprise me?" Kris questioned coming in the door. Tao frowned, getting up and ordering him out of the room.

"No! It's a surprise! You're not allowed to see!" The cookies had already been in and were about to ding, but Tao still had to decorate them. Kris chuckled, wrapping his arms around his lover's waist. "Alright, if it's that important, I'll leave." He lifted his nose to the air. "Is something burning?" He questioned.

Tao and Kyungsoo's eyes flew open as the began to hear tiny beeps coming from the kitchen. "THE COOKIES!" They screamed, getting up and running into the kitchen. "Kris! Kris, come help!" Tap screamed, the older bolted into the room, seeing a small fire emitting from the inside of the stove.

"Oh my God! Put it out! Put it out!" Tao screamed running to grab their small fire extinguisher that they kept under the counter. Kris hurriedly took it from Tao, spraying it all over the oven, and covering a good portion of the floor. "There, it's alright." Kris said walking over to Tao who was pouting. "All that hard work, for nothing." He said, looking down at the floor.

Kris could only laugh as he kissed Tao's pouting lips. "It's the thought that counts."

*End Flashback*

"We also need you here so you can help take care of the kids." Another voice called. Chen and Xiumin came in with Baekhyun and Chanyeol, all carrying their children. Chanyeol and Baekhyun held their two year old twins, Chanhyun and Baekho, walking over to the bed. Xiumin led their four year old, Jongdae jr. ,over lifting him up and sitting him on the bed.

Kris also remembered when Tao had found out about his best friends adopting their children. He had been extremely excited, and had insisted that they would be the God parents to Jongdae jr. "See Tao," Kris said, looking around the room. "You're fiends and I all want you to wake up. And I know your mom does." He gave Tao's hand a gentle squeeze.

"I miss you." He said, wiping away his tears that began to fall. "We all wish you would wake up." Nothing else was said as the room fell silent, everyone holding their breaths and waiting for a bomb to drop, yet nothing happened.

His friends had finally talked Kris into going home and at least taking a shower. They all made a schedule, each taking turns on who would stay with Tao so Kris could have a break.

Kris was now at home, putting on his clothes as he got ready to go back to the hospital. His phone began to ring. "Hello?" He asked, picking up the phone.

"Kris, how's Tao doing?" Kris smiled hearing his father's voice come over the line. "His condition hasn't changed at all, he still hasn't woken up." He heard him sigh. "Son, I know you don't want to hear, or even think about things like this, but what will you do if he doesn't wake up?" Kris thought about it a moment, taking a seat on his bed.

"I don't know dad." He muttered, feeling pain over take him. What would he do without Tao? What would happen to him? "I don't think I could live if I lost Tao." He admitted sadly. It was a hard thing to say, but it was the truth. He loved Tao more than anything in this world, and if he were to die, he'd most likely kill himself.

"This is a hard position to be in son, trust me I know. But you have to think of what he would want. He wouldn't want you to just mope about him forever. He would want you to move on with your life." Kris knew his dad was telling the truth, but he couldn't let himself think about that right now. Right now, Tao was still alive, and if there was something he could do to wake him up, he'd do it.

Three beeps sounded on his line, letting him know he had another call. "I gotta go dad, I'll let you know if anything happens." His father bid him farewell just as he connected to the other call. "Hello?" He asked, hearing crying on the other line. Kris immediately panicked hearing that it was Mrs. Huang crying.

"Victoria, what's happened?" He asked, running to put his shoes on. He couldn't understand her through her tears. "Is their anyone there with you?' He asked as he climbed in the car. She handed the phone over to someone else. "Hello?" It was Luhan. "Lu, what happened why is Victoria crying?" Luhan sniffled as well. "Kris, he woke up." Kris smiled, feeling tears come to his eyes. His smile faded though when he heard Luhan's tone.

"Luhan, why are you not happy? What's going on?" He sped down the highway, not giving on if he got a ticket. Luhan did his best to pull himself together.

"Kris, he doesn't know who any of us are. He doesn't even know his mom." Kris' car came to a screeching halt as he pulled into the hospital parking lot. "W-What?" He asked, unable to understand what was being said to him. "He doesn't know us. The doctor's are saying he has amnesia."
