The Date

good girls go to heaven and bad girls go everywhere

Chapter 10;

He’s kissing you. Byun Baekhyun is kissing you.

Baekhyun’s lips are soft against yours, but so, so needy. And you don’t know exactly when but somehow your body decided it’d be a good idea to kiss him back. As soon as you respond, the kiss gets more heated. His long, slender fingers trail across your jaw and down your neck and you can’t help but shove his beanie off his head and bury your fingers in his hair, pulling him closer. He’s on your bottom lip gently, eliciting a moan that you should have been embarrassed about. But you’re not. Instead you gasp, in surprise, when you feel your back hitting a hard surface and hands trailing down to your lower back, hoisting you up. You automatically wrap your legs around his waist and you can feel him against you. His kiss is doing so many things to you. The pit of your stomach is twisting and fluttering and your brain feels like absolute mush. He tastes like mint and something else you can’t quite place. He smells like cologne and Baekhyun and it smells so infuriatingly good. You feel like you’re on fire and every nerve in your body is tingling. You want him. You want him so much. You’re tired of denying it. Life is too goddamn short. His tongue grazes along the inside of your mouth and you don’t even remember that happening and, oh God, his pretty hands are roaming down your body, feather soft and caressing. You never even knew you could make such indecent noises, you never even knew his deep little moans would be so unbearably y. It takes you a moment to realize that he’s fumbling with your robe until you feel your robe fall open and his hands trailing along the exposed skin just below the hem of your tank top. You shiver at the goose bumps he raises. But. You just. But, no.

You place your hands on Baekhyun’s chest and pull away suddenly, your head hitting the wall behind you with a light thud. His hands are still against your waist, his fingers are still playing with the exposed skin along the hem of your tank top, but he stops kissing you. Instead he looks at you with raised eyebrows, lips swollen, hair messy, and eyes so, so dark. Oh God. You shake your head, finding it difficult to formulate words, at the moment. He won’t let go of you and it takes you a moment to realize that you’ve still got your legs wrapped around his waist, that he’s still got you up against a wall, the front door still wide open. He’s still looking at you with hooded eyes and a questioning gaze (two things that are really not helping you one bit) and you need to take a moment to find your voice. It comes out a little shaky and you will yourself to sound more steady. “Do you really think I’m that easy? Take me out on a date first, you uncultured idiot.” You tell him, breathlessly.

He laughs, his voice sounding so, so raspy (the is doing that on purpose, isn’t he? Does he want you to jump him?) and the worst part is that you can feel his body shaking against yours. Oh. God. “I was just going with the flow, honestly.” Baekhyun replies, voice just as raspy as his laugh. You want him to stop that right now. Then he smiles, sharp teeth catching his swollen bottom lip (you did that to him) and looks at you with playful eyes, “And you’re not easy, Sooyong-ah. If anything, I’m the easy one.”

You giggle, you can’t help it, you’re practically on cloud nine right now. Do you like him? Yeah, you think you do. And you’ve decided that you don’t care to deny it any longer (because, yes, you admit it. You were in serious denial earlier). Then you sigh, looking at him seriously, “I just. I was being serious, you know. About the. Um. Dating thing.” You blush, profusely, glancing down at your hands against his chest, suddenly finding your fumbling fingers incredibly interesting. You try to ignore the fact that he’s still playing with the hem of your tank top.

“Hey.” He murmurs and you don’t look up, because you’re sure that he doesn’t like you like that. He’s got a reputation, doesn’t he? You bite your lip, frowning at your hands. Why does Byun Baekhyun make you question yourself? Ugh.

“Sooyong-ah.” He breathes and you shiver when you realize he’s whispering into your ear and you can feel his teeth gently grazing your earlobe as he continues speaking, voice so low, “Look at me.”

And you do, you can’t help it, not when his fingers are feather soft against your exposed skin and he’s whispering into your ear so seductively. Oh my God. You think he might actually kill you. You meet his eyes, biting your lip, and he leans forward, catching your lips in a kiss so soft, you almost melt. Then he pulls away and makes a face at you, eyes playful and tone condescending, “Yah! You think I’m just going to let you get any of this without dating me first? I’m not that easy.”

You blink, staring at him. “You mean—”

He cuts you off with a soft peck on the lips, “Yeah, I do. So Friday, 7pm. Look cute or I refuse to be seen with you.” You smile, brightly, and open your mouth to say something when he kisses you again.

“Stop doing that.” You grimace, wrinkling your nose.

He looks at you with a type of innocence that looks entirely out of place when he’s got kiss-swollen lips and messy hair. “Doing what?”

“Not letting me finish my sentences. Kissing me.” You reply.

He smirks, suggestively, “You weren’t complaining two minutes ago.”

“Shut up.” You say, flicking his nose, lightly.

He pouts and it’s so, so cute. “But I like kissing you.”

You sigh, exaggeratedly, “I guess I like kissing you, too.” He pulls you into another kiss and you can feel him grinning against your lips. And it’s clear he wants to make out again. And, god, you want to kiss him forever and ever, too. His lips feels so nice. But you can’t. Everything is moving too fast. You’re a little overwhelmed. He’s too tempting. You push away again, shaking your head quickly as he lets out a soft groan, “It’s three in the morning, Baekhyun.”

He looks at you like you’re slow, “Yeah. So?”

“I have class tomorrow. I need to go to bed.”

“Mmm. I could join you.”

You hit his arm, lightly. “Shut up and get off me.”

You untangle yourself from him and it takes you a second to steady yourself because your legs are a little numb from being wrapped around Baekhyun’s waist for so long. When you stumble a little, he grabs your elbow and laughs at you. “I’m glad I have this kind of effect on you.” Baekhyun smirks, smugly. You just shove him towards the door, with a scowl.

He stops right outside the door and leans so close you can make out each tiny eyelash, “Remember. Friday. 7pm. I’ll pick you up.” He whispers in a low voice.

You nod, unable to breathe, honestly, and he just smirks. It takes you another ten minutes (and too many kisses to count) to get him to actually get out of your apartment. He’s grinning as he walks down the hall and towards the elevators. “I’m always cute.” You call after him, responding to his earlier comments.

Baekhyun just eyes you skeptically from over his shoulder, “I’m not too sure about that.” And then he enters the elevator, leaving you scowling after him at the entrance of your apartment. You can’t help but smile a moment later.

~.~.~.~.~

It was a dream. You’re positive it was some kind of dream. A nightmare, you decide. Oh God. You aren’t even entirely positive if you had woken up last night and Baekhyun doesn’t acknowledge anything about it when you spot him heading to the Planetary Hall before one of your morning classes. He just waves a little and keeps walking. It might have been because he was in a hurry. You don’t know. Maybe you’re delusional, maybe you’re actually going crazy. Oh God. The boy is making you question your own sanity. You don’t know what to do.

You’re sitting at the usual dining hall table, silently freaking out while you’re technically supposed to be watching over Mina and Minhee’s stuff, when someone sits down across from you, chairs scraping against tiled floors loudly.

You look up and it’s Jongdae and Chanyeol. You wrinkle your nose, ready to question why exactly they’re sitting at your lunch table, when you see Jessica walking alongside Sehun, rolling her eyes while Sehun does this weird little eyebrow raise thing at her. Oh yeah. Apparently your friends are best friends with Baekhyun’s friends now. Things really shouldn’t change this much in two weeks.

“You look like you’re having a .” Jongdae tells you pointedly, opening his lunch box.

Jessica she sits down beside Chanyeol, “Unnie likes to stress herself out.” She says matter-of-factly.

Jongdae smirks then, eyes twinkling quite scarily, “Just ask Baekkie to relieve some of that stress for you.”

You glare at him and before you can tell him to shove it, someone takes the seat beside you, arm brushing yours. It’s, oh God, it’s Byun ing Baekhyun. You’re going to die from lack of oxygen, you’re absolutely sure of it. “What about Baekkie?” Baekhyun asks, curiously. You refuse to look at him.

Chanyeol points at you, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively, “She needs you to help her relieve some stress.”

Baekhyun sounds amused when he speaks, “Oh really? Is that true, Sooyong-ah?” The entire table cackles, including Jessica.

You frown at all of them, “You’re all terrible people.”

Jongdae nods in agreement, “You’re probably right.”

Then Sehun snickers and before the conversation can continue any further Mina and Minhee join you guys. You realize that, one by one, Baekhyun’s little clique joins the table too. You think it’s a little weird because although you’ve been sitting with Baekhyun for the past week, you’ve never been joined by Yixing or Luhan, and definitely never Kris. They all attend graduate school and you figure they eat at the café on the other side of campus. This is weird. You don’t like this. You don’t like that he’s sitting beside you, touching your arm oh-so-casually, leaning against you a little when he laughs, you don’t like this. You’ve already convinced yourself that last night didn’t happen and it’s not like he’s proving you wrong. Oh my God. Your heart is racing and maybe you are having a .

You’re biting your lip hard and practically arguing with yourself right now. What is happening to you? You think you should just leave the dining hall before you really embarrass yourself when light fingers brush against your bare thighs. Why did you decide to wear a skirt today? You glance at Baekhyun and he’s smiling at you. Then you decide that maybe you should just ask him like in a really subtle way. So you take a deep breath and speak quietly, “Um. Okay. This might be a weird question but. Did you come by my house in the middle of night and, um, yeah?” You can feel your cheeks heating up.

He stares at you for a good thirty seconds while you squirm uncomfortably in your seat. And then he starts to laugh, loudly and obnoxiously. It’s kind of cute. Wait. No, it’s not. He’s laughing at you, that’s not cute. And he’s attracting the attention of the rest of the table. You glare at him before you begin to gather your things. You’re leaving. You have to study anyway. He’s still laughing and you’re sure there are tears in his eyes. Mina glances at you with a questioning gaze and you just scowl. You pull your backpack over your shoulder and hiss at Baekhyun, “It’s not funny, you idiot.” Then you get up, chair scraping against the floor loudly.

You mean to stomp away and you manage to get about two feet away from the table before a hand wraps around your wrist, effectively bringing you to a halt. Baekhyun turns you around and he’s still grinning but there’s something serious in his eyes. He’s holding both of your wrists, tightly, while you try to twist away from his grip. “Sooyong-ah.” Baekhyun murmurs. Before you can respond or kick him in the shins, his lips are on yours, and you realize it’s his way of telling you that last night was real. You think you might burst at the seams. Oh my God. It’s a sweet, chaste kiss like he’s being careful with you. It’s just as good as the kisses from last night and when he pulls away, you’re breathless in an entirely different kind of way. You can vaguely hear the little girlish squeals and the catcalls in the background because all that matters right now is Baekhyun, honestly. God, you like him a lot, don’t you?

“Does that answer your question?” Baekhyun asks, smirking.

“I can’t believe you just did that.” You mutter, smiling despite yourself as you eye the way Minhee looks about ready to jump you.

“Consider it my cute, public confession.” Baekhyun replies.

You roll your eyes, “That wasn’t cute at all. Because, you know, you’re not cute.”

He taps your nose with a long, slender finger and sounds amused. “And neither are you.”

You sigh, taking on a wounded tone, “Well I guess we’re going to have to be Not Cute together.”

He nods, solemnly, “First I’m your Not Friend and now I’m Not Cute. I feel like I should be offended.”

You’re about to answer when someone shouts, “Get a room!” and you’re positive it’s Jongdae.

Baekhyun just snickers before eyeing you seriously, “Remember. Tomorrow—”

“Yeah, yeah. Friday, 7pm. Dress cute.” You interrupt, “Speaking of which, you better look good too.”

He smirks, “I always look good.”

You can’t exactly deny that so you roll your eyes, “I think that’s my cue to leave. Good luck dealing with Minhee, Mina, and Jessica. They’re going to tear you apart.”

“Fun.” He mutters. Then he smiles at you, sharp teeth showing. “See you later?”

“Maybe.” You tell him. He just pouts before leaning forward and leaving a soft kiss on your forehead. It makes your tummy flutter. Then he waves and heads back to the table, where they’re all staring at the two of you with expressions ranging from shock to disapproval to amusement.

~.~.~.~.~

“Details! I want details!” Minhee shrieks as soon as she barges through your apartment door, Mina right behind her. Jessica walks in casually a good thirty seconds later, still looking curious.

“You’re so demanding.” You say, frowning.

Minhee scowls at you, “You want to see demanding? I will hack your bank account and take all your money if you don’t spill right now."

You sigh, smiling a little bit. This is the first time in a while the four of you are actually sitting around talking about boys. It’s so normal. You kind of missed this so you start from the very beginning.

~.~.~.~.~

You open the door at 7:13pm and find yourself face to face with Byun Baekhyun. He’s dressed in black jeans that fit him so well and a fitted blazer over a white dress shirt (where he left the top two buttons ed, the tease). His hair is wavy and falls perfectly side swept and his eyes look smoky and dark. He’s got his sleeves rolled up to his elbows and he looks the perfect mix between casual and formal. He looks so, so good. You have to force yourself to look away because you could stare at him for a really long time. He smirks at you, though, eyebrows raised, because of course he noticed you staring. “Well, you’re late.” You say, casually, trying to hide the nerves. You’re a little nervous because this is an actual date, this is different from those other times.

“Yah! Why are you late Byun Baekhyun?” Mina appears beside you with her arms crossed, hair wild and expression stern.

“I was trying to be fashionably late.” Baekhyun replies, eyes sliding over to Mina, expression amused.

Then suddenly Mina leans close and you roll your eyes. She speaks in a low tone that sounds positively dangerous. How embarrassing. “You better take care of her, Byun Baekhyun.” Mina jabs Baekhyun’s chest with her perfectly manicured finger, “Or I will cut off your and kill you multiple times. And, don’t worry, Minhee and Jessica are going to help.”

You grab Mina by the arm and pull her back. “Mina, don’t threaten him.” You tell her, frowning, turning a little red.

Baekhyun just nods, quite seriously, “Don’t worry, Mina-ssi. I’m going to take really good care of her.” Then he winks suggestively and Mina laughs, loudly.

You make a face at Mina who only laughs louder. “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.” Mina says, waving at you dismissively as she turns away.

You pause, “That’s not a very long list, Mina.”

She throws a wink at you. “Exactly.”

Baekhyun actually snorts before he threads his fingers through yours. His hands are warm and you let him pull you out of the apartment. As you’re both walking to his car, he swings your entangled hands and bites his lips. You can feel his gaze on you and eventually you sigh, eyeing him curiously, “What is it?”

“You look really good. I didn’t think it was possible but…” He leans closer and you can feel his breath against your ear. Oh God. You can hear the teasing smirk in his low whisper and it makes shivers run up and down your spine, “You might actually look better than me.” He finishes, suddenly pulling away and cackling at your expression.

“Wow, thanks.” You deadpan, unable to hold back the tiny smile.

“I said might.” Baekhyun replies with a shrug.

“Yeah, I noticed. You’re so mean.” You mutter.

He opens the car door for you, grinning as he lightly trails his fingers down your arm leaving a trail of goose bumps in his wake, “Seriously though. You look hot. Congratulations.”

“You give terrible compliments.” You say. But you have to agree. You do look good. Mina lent you one of her old black dresses and it fits you in all the right places. You didn’t even know your legs could look this good, honestly.

“You like it.” He replies.

“Maybe.” You respond and he just smirks before he closes the door for you and makes his way to the driver’s side.

~.~.~.~.~

“We’re lost, aren’t we?” You ask skeptically, watching the unfamiliar streets pass by.

“No.” Baekhyun mutters rather unconfidently.

“Okay. Then tell me where we are.” You reply, crossing your arms.

“Um. South Korea.”

“Baekhyun.”

He glances at you before frowning at the road. You’ve been driving for almost two hours and no matter how many times Baekhyun denies it, you’re positive he doesn’t know where you’re going. “We’re not in SM Town anymore. I think.” Baekhyun says.

Then you pout at him, leaning your head against the window and sighing dramatically, “You’ve ruined everything.”

He looks worried when he looks at you but when he notices how you’re trying to contain your giggles he scowls. He’s just so cute when he’s frustrated, honestly. “I didn’t know you were so dramatic.”

“I’m hungry.”

“I know. We have reservations at the restaurant and…oh.” He sighs.

“What?” You ask curiously.

“We missed our reservation.” He mutters.

“I’m not really surprised. We’ve been lost for two hours.” You tell him.

“We’re not lost.” He scowls at the road. You can’t help but giggle at him.

~.~.~.~.~

“Just ask someone for directions.” You say, finally, feeling a little exasperated.

“We’re not lost, Sooyong-ah.” Baekhyun tells you, a little darkly.

“You’re such a boy.” You scowl before you unbuckle your seatbelt and reach for the door handle of the car.

He turns his head back and forth between you opening the passenger door and the road, looking a bit frantic. “Yah! You idiot! What are you—I’m driving. .” Baekhyun shouts as you slowly push open the door. He pulls over and slows to a stop and you hop out of the car.

You stick your head into the car and narrow your eyes at him, “There’s a convenience store right there. I’m asking for directions.” You tell him, ignoring his imminent protesting.

“We’re not lost!” Baekhyun shouts after you. You just roll your eyes as you step into the convenience store.

~.~.~.~.~

Baekhyun’s arm winds around your waist, pulling you closer to him. His body is warm and you like how you fit against him. You look up at him, curiously, and notice that he’s glaring straight ahead at a couple of random guys who had been leering at you earlier. You’re about to tell him that you can handle yourself when your stomach rumbles loudly. He blinks, looking down at you, and smirks, his eyes turning into little crescent moons. “Hungry?”

“Yes.” Then you make a face at him, “But don’t we have reservations?”

He mocks your expression, “We did, but we’re at a convenience store and ramyun sounds pretty damn good right about now.”

You eye the ramyun aisle and nod slowly, “You’re right. Let’s have a ing feast.”

He just laughs and you think you love it when he laughs.

~.~.~.~.~

Your heels are dangling from your fingers and you slide down the aisles, picking up whatever looks good, honestly. You yelp when you smack into another person. “Oh, I’m so sorry.” You bow, blowing your hair out of your face.

Baekhyun looks at you with a pained expression, “It hurts.”

You frown at him, “Who’s being dramatic now?”

He pouts at you, jutting out his bottom lip pitifully. It’s entirely too cute. Seriously, Byun Baekhyun should be illegal. “Kiss it better.”

You roll your eyes before standing on your tiptoes and placing a kiss against his soft lips. You pull away almost immediately because you don’t want the workers to kick you guys out or something for pda. He snakes a hand through yours, engulfing your tiny hand in his pretty, slender fingers, and you smile. “Pretty sure we’re buying enough packaged food for a family of four.” Baekhyun tells you as you two walk towards the cash registers, weighed down with random snacks and multiple flavors of ramyun.

“I like ramyun.” You say, simply. He bites his lip and rolls his eyes, eyes twinkling softly.

~.~.~.~.~

“There’s the sign! I never thought I’d be glad to be back in this ty place.” Baekhyun practically shouts, halfway through his obnoxiously loud version of Ailee’s “U & I”. You look out the window and see the Welcome to SM Town: The Happiest Place on Earth sign.

“You didn’t enjoy our radio karaoke duets?” You ask, feigning hurt.

“Nope.” Baekhyun replies, dragging out the word.

So mean.” You mutter. He just laughs, one hand brushing up your bare thigh absentmindedly. You’re currently sitting cross-legged in the passenger seat with your hair pulled up into a messy bun and a box of pocky sticks in front of you. There’s still a ton of food left that you had kind of thrown in the backseat. You’re glad you’ve finally managed to make it back too, thanks to one of the convenience store cashiers giving you directions. Baekhyun still had the nerve to insist that you two weren’t lost though.

Suddenly the car starts to jerk and stutter. You blink, “What’s happening?” The car starts to make these strange gasping noises and Baekhyun starts cursing under his breath as he quickly pulls over. Suddenly the car just stops and Baekhyun looks annoyed.

“It ran out of gas.” Baekhyun says, incredulously. Literally this date has to be one of the biggest disasters you’ve ever encountered. Everything that could possibly go wrong is going wrong. But you’ve had fun, you’ll admit. The look on Baekhyun’s face makes you burst into laughter. He just looks so exasperated. He swats at your arm, “It’s not funny.”

“Oh, come on. You have to admit that this is at least a little funny.” You gasp in between giggles. You see his lips twitch upwards and you break into another round of giggles.

“Okay. Maybe it is. But what do we do now?” Baekhyun mutters.

You look around, “We could call a friend.”

Baekhyun calls Kim Joonmyun, claiming that he’s the only one who won’t make fun him, but then scowls at his phone halfway through their conversation. You can hear faint laughter coming from the phone. Finally Baekhyun hangs up and wrinkles his nose, “They can’t pick us up for another hour.”

“Alright. Then let’s…have a picnic?” You suggest, pointing at the bags of pocky sticks and random snacks in the backseat. The ramyun was gone because you two had eaten that in the convenience store in one of their cute little tables.

He raises his eyebrows at you. “Where?”

You pull open the door and haul yourself up on top of the hood of his car, turning onto your stomach so you can grin at him. “Right here.”

He looks at you for a moment and you notice his eyes darkening slightly as he bites his lips. Then he gets out of the car and joins you, playfully pushing you aside and placing his hands behind his head casually as he lies back. You both stare up at the night sky and it’s nothing special, you can barely see the stars, but you think you like this a lot. It’s peaceful. You pull out a piece of pocky and hand it to him. He takes it, fingers brushing against yours (you ignore the electric shock that runs through your body and straight to the tip of your toes).

~.~.~.~.~

He’s done talking about his family, how his parents are retired and like to constantly travel and you wonder why he’s still here in SM Town. You’re here because it’s cheaper than most other universities but Baekhyun is rich, so why does he stay here alone?

“Do you ever wonder what it’d be like if we never lived here? In SM Town, I mean?” You ask, thoughtfully. You hate SM Town, everybody who lives here does sooner or later. It’s not a happy place and the police have no authority whatsoever.

“I used to want to leave.” Baekhyun replies after a second, voice quiet. “But. Hmm. I guess I don’t want to anymore.”

“Really?” You ask, your voice rising with curiosity. “Why?”

“Well, it’s not like I can leave anymore. I have…responsibilities here.” Baekhyun says a little hesitantly.

“Like school?” You ask. You understand him though. You have responsibilities, too. School, sure, but you’re mostly responsible for LILAC and your best friends now. Once one joins the mafia world, it’s hard to just get out.

“Um, yeah.” Then he pauses and he tucks a few loose strands of hair behind your ear. “And if I left, I never would have been your communications partner slash Not Friend.”

“Very romantic.” You deadpan, turning your head so you can look at him.

He pauses, eyes glancing down at your lips, “Is this when I tell you that, ‘more importantly, I never would have met you?’” He asks, in a low voice that makes you feel so fluttery and mushy.

You nod, slowly, “That would be ideal.”

He cups your cheek, tenderly, “Well then Lee Sooyong-ah. More importantly, I never would have met you and that’s a y alternative.”

You can’t help but smile, “Idiot.” But you scoot forward and crash your lips into his. You giggle when he rolls on top of you, pressing his body onto yours. His kisses are gentle yet so rough and God, your skin tingles wherever he touches you. He presses feather light kisses down your jaw, all the way to your neck, kissing and that spot right beneath your ear, that spot that instantly relaxes you. You moan softly and he chuckles. You can feel his hands roaming down your body, tugging at your dress, until it stops at the very hem of your dress and starts to make its way upwards. You untangle your fingers from his hair and clasp his hands bringing them upwards. “This is the first date, once again, I’m not that easy, Baekhyun.” You say breathlessly.

You can feel him smiling against the skin of your neck, finger tightening around yours, “Neither am I, Sooyong-ah.” Baekhyun murmurs against your collarbone before nipping at the skin there, making you gasp.

“Uh huh, sure.” You try to say except your sentence ends in a chorus of muffled moans because he just decided to on that spot again and you’re sure there’s going to be a hickey the size of the moon there. You can feel him chuckling against your body and, wow, you hate him sometimes. You push his hands up to your waist and press them there, silently warning him to keep it slow. Because you’re still overwhelmed at the fact that you’ve even kissed him as many times as you have. Everything was just moving too fast and you needed to slow down. You pull his lips back up to your and kiss him senseless because you can, letting your own hands trail along his chest, relishing in how smooth and—

HONK!

You shriek, sitting up reflexively, which ends in you smacking your forehead against Baekhyun’s hard. Baekhyun practically topples off of you and over the front of the car, a string of expletives leaving his mouth when he hits the ground with a hard thud. You rub your forehead, eyes watering a little, because Byun Baekhyun has a really ing hard head. You glance back as a car honks again and are blinded by the brightest headlights you’ve ever encountered. What the hell.

Then you hear a distinct, obnoxious voice shout from the car currently parked beside Baekhyun’s, “Yah! I’m pretty sure ing in the middle of the street is illegal. Hot. But illegal.” It’s Kim Jongdae. Of course it’s Kim Jongdae.

Baekhyun hops onto his feet, rubbing his lower back and scowling at the other car, “You just had to honk at us, didn’t you?” Baekhyun mutters, adding a few choice cuss words as well.

The car rolls closer and you can see Jongdae practically hanging out the back window. Kim Joonmyun is in the driver’s seat with an expression of disapproval and Yixing is in the passenger’s side, looking quite amused with the entire situation. You just roll your eyes, still rubbing your head, and slide off the hood of the car, fixing your dress and refusing to blush when Jongdae snickers. Baekhyun gives your forehead a quick peck before opening Joonmyun’s car door for you. You grab your heels and purse from Baekhyun’s car and slide into Joonmyun’s car, admiring the expensive looking leather seats. Are they all rich?

Baekhyun’s sitting in between you and Jongdae and every time Jongdae opens his mouth to say something suggestive, Baekhyun glares at him. You throw your last pocky and it hits Jongdae right between the eyes. Jongdae scowls at the two of you, “You’re both menaces.”

The entire ride home is a little quiet, soothing radio music playing in the background. You yawn, “What time is it?”

“Almost midnight.” Joonmyun tells you. You thank him, a little tiredly, before you decide to lean your head against Baekhyun’s shoulder, ignoring Jongdae’s little eyebrow raise. Jongdae makes a face when he realizes neither of you plan on responding to him before leaning forward and talking to Yixing softly.

“Well, that was a disaster of a date.” Baekhyun mumbles.

You nod your head and laugh a little. “It was. But I had fun.”

“Did you really?” He asks you, his tone disbelieving.

“Mmm hmm,” You hum, “But next time, let’s just go to a dinner and movie like normal people.”

You feel a light pressure against the top of your head and you sigh, melting into him a little, “Next time, huh? Someone’s a bit eager.”

“Oh, shut up.” You yawn. He chuckles but doesn’t say another word and before you know it, you fall asleep.

~.~.~.~.~

“I would have dumped his as soon as he got lost.” Mina mutters, smiling.

“Why are you smiling like that?” You ask, yawning into your coffee mug. “It’s a little creepy.”

“You two are just really cute. I’d be jealous if it wasn’t for the fact that I only care about rich men. Not cute men.” Mina replies, wrapping a blanket around her.

“You’re such a gold digger.” You mutter.

She shrugs, unfazed. “There’s nothing wrong with that, Sooyong-ah. At least I have high standards.”

You just laugh, you can’t help it. You can’t even stop smiling, really, because everything seems so happy and not stressful and it’s really, really nice.

Of course nice times don’t last very long. Not when you’re in a mafia.

~.~.~.~.~

The door to your apartment crashes open and you wonder why you gave Minhee a key in the first place. She runs in with her laptop in one hand and her other hand dancing across the keyboard, franticly. Jessica follows Minhee in a good thirty seconds, her calm demeanor a great contrast to Minhee’s not calm one.

“What is going on?” You interrupt, loudly.

Minhee pauses and looks at you, eyes trailing down your body before focusing right below your face, “Looks like someone had some fun last night.”

“Shut up. That’s not important.” You reply, your face heating up.

“You know how we’ve made some really loyal clients?” Minhee says, spinning her laptop around so you can look at the screen. You nod, slowly. She grimaces, “They’ve stopped asking for us. And, get this, some of them have been turning up dead. Like you see him…” You glance down at a picture of a man with a rather ridiculous mustache. He seems vaguely familiar.

Jessica nods, “Yeah. He likes to buy a ton of drugs from us. He’s like our main source of income.”

Minhee sighs, “Well. He’s dead.”

“What?” Mina asks, putting down her coffee mug. Then she scowls, “Let me guess? EXO?”

“Probably.” Minhee says, “Or it could be EXO’s allies. He was reported missing two days ago and found dead last night around 11:15pm close to the very edge of town.” Then Minhee stares at her laptop thoughtfully, “I think EXO purposely made it easy to find the body. The police never find people that quickly, dead or alive. Not in SM Town.”

“So you think…” Jessica trails off eyes widening.

“They’re doing it on purpose.” Minhee finishes with a frown.

It all seems to click, right then. “They’re trying to take us out piece by piece, too.” You say, in realization.

“Does this mean we need to protect our clients now?” Mina asks, incredulously.

Jessica shakes her head, “No. We can’t do that. That’s too dangerous.”

“Let’s just steal their clients then.” You suggest, looking around the room.

“Easier said than done.” Jessica mutters.

You have to agree. You sigh, “There’s nothing else we can do. They’re planning something. First, the note, then this. We need to be two steps ahead of them.”

“I have a feeling we’re five steps behind them.” Mina replies, scowling at her hands.

“I have a feeling everything is going to go to hell really soon.” Minhee adds, not looking up from her computer.

You can’t help but agree.
