M - Mother

"Umma." Junhong said while he sat at the dining table, patiently waiting for his food to be finished and served. It was the second Sunday of May, which also happened to be Mother's Day, the day that was dedicated to the appreciation of mothers.

Junhong was ten now and still as smart as ever. From a fairly young age, he knew that he was different from most other kids. Most of the kids in his class had one female mother and one male father. He had two males as parents and he was conceived from them, no females involved. 

He called the person he was born from his Umma, even though that person was a male. It never really bothered him that his mother was a male despite all the bullying he received at school for it. 

"What is it?" Himchan didn’t turn away from the pasta he was making. It was just him and Junhong at home since Yongguk was in Japan for the next few days because of work related business.

"Uh, I just wanted you to know that I'm glad you're my Umma and that it never really bothered me that you're not a girl and I love you. Happy Mother's Day." Junhong spoke with pride, even though he was a little embarrassed saying all this cheesy stuff. As he grew older, he wasn't as mushy as he used to be with his parents but since today was a special day for his Umma, he felt he should express how much his mother meant to him.

Himchan wanted to cry. He wanted to cry until there was no tomorrow because of what his son just did. Himchan felt so appreciated and touched. He turned off the heat since the pasta was finished anyway and walked over to his son.

"Jello, stand up." Junhong looked confused as he stood up. He was only ten but he was so much taller than most kids his age that he almost reached his parents’ heights.

"Oh, baby, thank you so much. You don't know how touched I feel by your words. I love you too Junhong and I'm so glad you're my and Appa's son." Himchan felt tears slide down his cheeks as he pulled his son into a huge hug.

Even though he wasn't a female, he was still a mother. To hear that Junhong didn't care about having a male as a mother really touched his heart. 

"I love you, Umma." Junhong smiled as he hugged his Umma back. This reminded him of his childhood when his Umma was there to comfort him whenever he was sad or had a boo-boo. Now, it was his turn to comfort his Umma.

"I love you too, Jellybean." Himchan smiled as he kissed his son on the forehead. What did he do to receive such an amazing child? 

"Thank you for being my child, Bang Junhong." Himchan whispered.
