Again, this is from Yunjae’s POV & hope I do well~~ >_<

The 1^st time skip here is Yunjae after having dinner with Siwon and Taewoong and the second one is the Saturday night events… The 3^rd one is, you’ll know when you get there~ *^^* Hihi~

Note: Guys, I was wondering if I should make a chapter, but I’m still inexperienced and you can base that on my first 2-shot on Tao. Please do tell me through commenting if I should or should not. ^^; Thanks, guys~~

4. What Are Friends For

I was back at my apartment after having dinner with my hyung and Siwon. I came home early since I had a lot of work to finish and my hyung was the one who took Siwon home. Seeing them interact sometimes really make them look like a couple. Our friends say that Siwon and I really don’t look like one. Some say we’re like siblings while others say that I’m like her slave.

I rubbed the back of my head as I continued to work. It’s just that I can’t help but think about my hyung and Siwon’s relationship before. Was it good that I interfered between them? Aissh, it’s really making my head ache. I grabbed the cup of coffee on the top of my table and drank from it.

Hearing my cellphone’s message alert ring, I picked it up and saw that it was Hak-chan:

“Ya, Yunjae. Do you want to drink at our usual bar with Sungjae on Saturday like old times? You can invite Junhee over. Can you ask him? I don’t have his number you know. XD”

“Okay, I’m in. I’ll go call Junhee.” I replied to his text and after that, I started to go through the phone book of my phone and clicked on Junhee’s name.

After three rings, he finally picked up, “Hello? Yunjae?” He asked.

“Hak-chan’s invited us to drink on Saturday like old times, are you free then?” I said to him as I stood up from my seat.

Junhee’s voice sounded a bit disappointed, responding with a heavy sigh after, “Oh, you see, Yuchun and I are going somewhere on Saturday… I’m really sorry.”

I walked over to the window and stood there as I groaned a bit, “Ah, bummer. Guess you’ll just come next time.”

“Yeah, it’s a promise.” Junhee responded in a more cheerful tone than before.

“Well, I’m gonna hang up now. Sorry for bothering you while you’re working.”

“It’s nothing. Bye.”

“Bye.”

I hanged up first and placed my phone inside my pocket. I looked up at the night sky blankly as I wondered where the both of them will go. No, I don’t think I’m jealous of my best friend, it’s just that I don’t really know the guy much and who knows, right?

Enough of this, I’m going to sleep.

“Ah, this is the best, hanging out as men like old times!” Sungjae loudly chuckled after we clinked our bottles together and then gulping it down. We were actually at our 5^th bottle from what I can remember. I can handle liquor as much as the next person.

Hak-chan and I nodded at each other as we drank ours. He said with a sigh, “It’s a shame that Junhee didn’t get to come.”

“That punk… He’s a closer friend to the girls from my perspective. Is he out with a girlfriend or something?” Sungjae asked us with a hint of annoyance.

“No, he’s out with his roommate.” I said after chugging down on mine.

“Is it a female roommate?” Hak-chan asked me with anticipation.

I shook my head, “N’ah, it’s a guy. He also works at the hospital he’s in.”

Sungjae grunted as he scratched his head, “Aissh, doesn’t he care about us anymore?”

“I’m sure he just happened to make plans with the guy first. He’ll come next time.” Hak-chan calmed our friend, patting his back repeatedly.

I looked at my watch and almost gasped that it was already 12am. I was supposed to see Siwon who was at Yoojung’s place. “Sorry guys, but I have to go.” I said to them standing up and grabbing my coat as I started to walk away slowly.

“Ya, you said you were going to treat us!” Sungjae yelled at me in a drunken manner, waving his hands as he stood up lazily.

I looked back at them and bowed my head before exiting the bar, “Next time, guys. I promise. Annyeong~”

As I was out of the bar and making my way to my car as I was about to pull out my cellphone, I suddenly stopped from my pace seeing this friend of mine, standing near the lamp post and from the looks of it, his legs were wobbling a bit. I dashed off to the lamp post which was only a few meters from where I parked my car.

Standing behind him without a word, he turned around and said to me with delighted smile, “Yunjae-ah, glad seeing you here.”

“Junhee, what are you doing here? I thought you’re with Yuchun.” I asked him looking a bit confused.

“I was, but the hospital called him over for a surprise surgery since he’s a professional surgeon. He won’t be home ‘til tomorrow afternoon.” He responded nodding and scratching his head.

Picking up this strong smell of alcohol, Junhee definitely had a lot to drink. I scolded my best friend as I was looking at his face looking quite red, “Ya, you should’ve called me or someone to take you home. You can’t even balance yourself while standing.”

He replied with a silly smile and taking a few steps away backwards, “I’m fine, see? I can manage.”

But right after he said that, I quickly rushed to him and caught him when he lost balance. He smiled at me as I placed his arm over me with my hand behind his back. “Enough talking, I’ll take you home.” I said to him in an annoyed manner.

He passed out after I said that to him. I walked to my car and laid him at the backseat where he slept. I got in the driver’s seat and started the engine. I gave one last look at my sleeping friend at the backseat and drove off to his apartment.

As I was driving, I realized that he might not have his key or whatever, so to be sure, I took him to my place.

I stopped the car and got off first, and then I carried him from behind as I went in my apartment. I took his shoes off with me before going in. I went to my room and laid him there gently, not wanting him to wake up from his slumber. I stretched my arms up and as I was about to leave my room, I heard something that made me stop on my tracks.

“Yun…jae… you make me… really happy…”

Turning around, I saw that he was still asleep and was talking in his sleep. I walked over and sat on the lower part of the bed. I also noticed that he was smiling while he slept.

“I…really love you…”

He said as I covered him with the bed covers. I felt confusion if the two sentences were connected with each other. I stood up and exited my room quietly. I sat in the living room in deep thought, but not long did my train of thought was bothered after hearing my message alert tone. I pulled my cellphone out and saw the text:

“Hey, I thought you were going to take me home for like an hour ago? >:O”

I groaned, literally face-palming myself after reading Siwon’ text. I totally forgot. I texted her back as I lied down on the couch:

“I’m sorry. I found Junhee drunk all by himself and I had to take him home.”

A little white lie wouldn’t hurt. I mean, she is the closest to Yunjae aside from me. Maybe she knows about his hidden feelings. So just to be safe, I had to do it.

“Ah, I hope that’s true. Anyways, Taewoong hyung picked me up a while ago so you don’t have to worry. Jjalja~”

Siwon’s reply to me so I just simply responded with a goodnight and just closed my eyes. I really felt tired from alcohol and well, these thoughts that are bothering me.
