Chapter 16
One Story, Three Endings
First day of me being a part of the manga club. First activity: Read and finish 5 books in order to earn the ‘great reader’ badge.
“This is dumb…” I mumbled under my breath. “Seriously…I’d rather read 10 encyclopedias.”
Tamaki looked at me with sad, watery eyes. “Awww, you’re so mean Haru-chan…” “Don’t call me that baka!!!” I snapped. Then I turned, only to see Honey-senpai crying, holding his bunny. “Tama-chan is not stupid…” He cried.
I controlled myself. I just picked up a random manga near me. “Leave me alone, I’m going to read.”
The two of them broke into a smile. Somehow like twins… “Hahaha…Okay then Miss Fujioka.” They both slowly but obviously cheerfully walked away.
I looked at the cover. “The Black Cat by the Window…? What a strange title…” I sat on a chair and opened the book. I looked at the first page. The drawings are nice, how bad can it be? I’ll give it a shot.
…Oh…
A lonely girl always stood by the window, gazing up at the gray sky, wondering why she is in such a place. Every day she would do this. Her life was in such a misery, sometimes wishing she should not have been born. All alone in a place which she couldn’t even fit in. One day, a black cat passed by…
I continued to read. This seems a little interesting. This isn’t bad at all, and the story isn’t that long. I could finish reading this in a couple of hours.

53 minutes later…

Tamaki looked at me with a big grin painted on his lips. “Well? Well? Weeeeellllll~? I told you it’s worth a shot!!!”
I pouted; still annoyed by the fact that I said mangas are a waste of time to read, which is not true. “Uh…it was fine.” Tamaki smiled. “Really…I don’t think it’s just fine, especially when I found you crying over it a while ago, saying ‘Why did she do that?! C’mon, isn’t there going to be a sequel? Seriously!’ Based on your reaction earlier…it was an OUTSTANDING…!!!!” He danced around like an idiot.
“Okay, it was good. Really good…” I said, sitting down on a chair. “Now leave me alone.” Tamaki stood there motionless. “Ehh? Aren’t you going to have lunch with us?”
I looked at him, picking up another manga. “I’m going to read some more. I have to get the ‘great reader’ badge anyway.”
