Appearing Ladylike
Confidential Guidance1. Find a suitable, flowing shin-length dress. If it is winter, you will want to try wearing a pair of hose and find a nice, long black coat. (some people prefer to use furs)
2. Touch up on your manners. Manners are one of the most important qualities at a social event. You may try taking manners lessons.
3. Don't be shy. Show off those pearly - whites! Your confidence says a lot about you, so don't be afraid to smile. (Just make sure you brush and whiten your teeth!)
4. Also, if you're a guest, show your courtesy by bringing a small gift, known as a host(ess) gift. Usually, flowers, chocolates, cake platter, etc. can be appropriate. If you receive a printed invitation, don't be late about an R.S.V.P. you may also want to ask the host about the formality. (If it's a black or white tie event.) If it is not a ball gown event, you may be alright wearing jeans and your Christmas sweater!
5. Last but not least, write a punctual thank you note to the host, telling how much you enjoyed the evening. (Whether or not you really did.)
