Epilogue

The Spell

The sunray beamed straight into Sehun’s face, successfully woke him up. Rubbing his sleepy eyes by the back of his hands, he slowly sat up, head hanging low to gather himself together. A tiny light on his phone on the table beside kept flickering told him he had got a new message.

Reaching to the nightstand, Sehun picked it up and slid the screen, entered the password. He had not changed it since the first New Year he spent with Luhan at his house, not even during the period time when they broke up six years ago because somehow it reminded him that he had been so madly in love once in his lifetime. It’s always been Luhan’s birthday.

From: Baby deer

Good morning handsome~~~. Sorry again for not staying with you last night. You know the tradition before the wedding T_T. I love you <3

He unconsciously smiled at how Luhan didn’t forget to end his text with those three powerful words. He said it would never be enough for him to show his love to Sehun every single day. He said it’s his signature for Sehun only.

To: Baby deer

Good morning beautiful. I understand, don’t worry, I was fine. I love you too babe <3.

He held his phone firmly in both hands, knowing his boyfriend would reply in no time. And Sehun was right, before he counted to ten, it vibrated again.

From: Baby deer

Okay. I’ll see you at the wedding. Don’t be late :”> (I bet you won’t kkk~~~). I love you <3

Normally Luhan was the only reason that made him want to stay in bed a little bit longer, be attached to the warmth from his small back, linger to the chaste kiss they shared with their half sleepy eyes. Sehun loved to see Luhan in the early morning, when the light yellow sunray dancing on his pale skin and Luhan scrunched his nose cutely in response, turned around to press himself as close as possible into Sehun’s embrace. He was so pure that Sehun’s heart fluttered.

Now without Luhan beside, the Chinese was the reason made him roll out of bed in a hurry because if he’s fast enough, they might have some time private before the big event.

Tossing the electric device aside, Sehun went to the bedroom to fresh up then changed into the vest Luhan had prepared for him yesterday.  Looking at himself in the mirror, all tidy and elegant, he suddenly felt a loud wave of anxiety in his stomach.

Even though it’s not the first time they declared to the whole world they’ve been belonging to each other, he guessed this is the most important one, a turning point. And Sehun was totally aware that if he desired to take this path together with Luhan, he had to stop worrying about his capability of taking care of him, making him the happiest man in the world.

He had been thinking a lot about the small talk they had yesterday, and to be honest he was a bit scared yet excited to know they both wanted the same thing.

Grabbing his phone again, he walked towards the curtained window, hesitated for a split of second then searched a familiar name in the list before pressing the call button. After five sharp beeps, a hoarse voice echoed from the other side of the line.

“Hello?”

“Hey, it’s me.”

Flashback

Luhan asked him to go to Beijing to attend one of his cousins’ wedding, by the way introduced him as his boyfriend to his family in a peaceful night when Sehun was working on his unfinished piece of art while he was sitting on the other side of the table, flipping over the magazine, surely knew a very straightforward way to invite someone

“Hey, do you happen to be free on 15th next month? We have a wedding to go.”

“W…what?”

Sehun’s pen stretched a line on the music sheet as he looked up to see his boyfriend was looking at him and giggling.

“Haha, look at your face” Luhan started laughing, found it amused how ridiculously Sehun was reacting “Relax. It’s my one of my close relative’s. No need to be panic.”

The Korean squints at him as if he’s telling a joke because an occasion like a wedding was a huge deal and Luhan told him not to be freaked out. Not to mention as far as he concerned, they had never been to a wedding together before so it would be also their first time which made the huge deal more serious. There would be a bride and a groom, his relatives, even his father.

Oh my God, his father.

Sehun thought he was ready for this but when it came out of nowhere, he was not sure he could handle it well anymore.

“So….” he swallowed thick, putting the paper in his hand aside “Many people will be there?”

“Of course.” Luhan nodded “My aunt is very rich. I bet they will hold it at the plaza.”

“And…your father?” Sehun haltingly mumbled

“My dad? How can he miss the opportunity to meet his son-in-law?” Luhan teased and Sehun practically wanted bang his head against the wall.

“Can I not come?”

He bit his lip questioningly, knowing his request would never be accepted.

“Why?” The Chinese pouted, didn’t understand why Sehun refused to meet his family while he was always the one who claimed that he was ready for their open relationship.

“Because…..what if they don’t like me?”

Sehun propped his chin on the surface, hopelessly shifted his worried eyes towards the other. Luhan lost his track of time for a moment then stretched out and flicked Sehun’s forehead.

“Ouch…What’s that for?”

“Stop fussing over nothing.” Luhan shot him a pointed look.

“It’s easy for you to say.” Sehun rubbed the red spot on his forehead, brows furrowed in pain “Everyone likes you.”

“Yeah you’re right, I’m loveable.”

Luhan grinned to a I-am-serious-here Sehun who was crossing arms tightly against his chest and shooting him a sideways glance. He chuckled, walked around the table to give his silly boyfriend a hug from behind, softly kissed on his shoulder and said

“Don’t worry, I don’t care what they’ll think about you or about us. We won’t have to see them in the future if it’s necessary.”

It turned out Sehun had been worried about nothing.

Luhan dragged him to meet every single person of his family at the rehearsal and none of them gave him a weird look, some even congratulated them and made compliment of how cute they were together. Sehun was surprised to be honest although he didn’t understand a word they said and God knew whether Luhan translated it correctly but the happy grin on his boyfriend’s face in the whole time assured him they were just fine.

His father didn’t talk much and Sehun couldn’t be grateful more. Luhan took a chance to tease Sehun as he quoted what his dad said “I was worried since you told me you loved someone younger and I wondered how he would take care of you. But now I feel relieved. At least he looks more mature than you.” then tiptoed to place a chaste kiss on Sehun’s nose, whispering “He likes you.”

They decided to go out for a stroll before the dinner at the beach outside, letting fresh air fill up every nooks and crannies of their lungs. The beach was so beautiful with evening clouds tinged by setting sun, whitecaps chasing one another to be the first one hugging the shore and the taste of salt mingling in the air.

Luhan walked with Sehun on their bare foot, fingers lacing together, rocking back and forth. He always wished to do something romantic like taking the Magic Wheel and having a full view of the city at night or going to Namsan Tower and leaving a lock of love there or simply waking up in the morning and having breakfast in bed with his lover.

Just thinking about them already painted an idiotic smile on his lips and Sehun didn’t miss it.

“What are you thinking?”

“Nothing.” Luhan shook his head slightly, swinging their entwined hands even more “I just realize there are many things I want to do with you.”

“Such as…?” Sehun’s brows narrowed in confusion.

“Like this, walking on the beach together.” the older one beamed brightly, his doe-like eyes turned into crescent size.

Sehun chuckled, pulled him into a sweet kiss. Now he understood why Sora mom always had that loving smile on her face whenever Chaerim mom did something cute. He had wondered if it’s even appropriate to act like a child at that age but since he was with Luhan who by the way was excelled in exploiting cuteness, he realized he’s kind of attracted to it.

Luhan tugged him sit down after complaining about how his foot was getting tired and started writing random things on the sand.

“Sehun ah”

“Hm?”

“Can I tell you a secret?” Luhan fluttered his eyelashes, eyes glued to his toes in front bashfully.

“Of course.”

The Chinese hesitated for a moment. He appreciated what they’re having now but he couldn’t stop thinking about it since this morning

“I had a dream last night. It’s a wedding.”

“This wedding?” Sehun jerked back because the other was talking almost inaudibly.

“No, no….our wedding.”

Opposite what Luhan had predicted (freaked out expression?) Sehun was just dazed for a split of seconds then simply caressed his chin so that they could face each other and smiled at him lovingly

“What did you see?”

“Errr, nothing much. It took place in a small self-decorated thatched shelter at the sunset. I was standing alone and saw you in a white vest walking toward me. It’s quite blurry you know. I don’t know if there was anyone else there but I definitely heard Jongin’s laugh.”

The ending was so beyond the expectation and Sehun burst out laughing, breaking the connection between them

“Haha, I bet he’d invited himself”

Their laughter was swallowed by a loud crash of the breaking wave, both looking deep into the other one’s eyes and lingering there, didn’t want to leave. They knew it meant more than just a dream, something vaguely happened when you were sleeping. It’s their desirous goal, their future.

Sehun didn’t know how but the fact that Luhan came back for him, gave up on his career in China and moved to Korea again had completely erased all query weighing down on his heart for a long time. People might say it seemed a little easy for Luhan but Sehun didn’t think so. You wouldn’t understand the pain until you had yourself cut.

A ringing tone from Luhan’s phone yanked them out of their eye’s contact. Sehun smiled as Luhan grabbed his hand, pulling him to run back to the hall.

“They’re looking for us. Let’s go.”

End of flashback

Sehun had butterflies in his stomach as he was sitting inside a cab, on the way to the plaza. The traffic was really bad and he’s afraid he was late for the ceremony. Luhan was waiting for him at the front when he arrived, waving at him in a hurry

“I thought you left like an hour ago?” he helped Sehun fix the cravat then linked their arms together, walking toward the hall.

“Sorry, traffic jam” the younger flashed an apologetic smile “Ah, and I called Jongin.”

“Huh? What for?” Luhan halted, but immediately being pulled forward

“I’ll tell you later.” Sehun rubbed his hand assuredly, fastened their paces.

The sound of their shoes echoed throughout the hallway before they disappeared behind the big wooden door.

**********

“Hello?”

“Hey, it’s me.”

“Hey man, how’s China?”

“Can’t complaint. By the way, do you happen to be free on the third Wed of April next year?”

“W…what?”

“You have a wedding to go.”

-------------------------------

A.N/ Just so you know, I’ve already posted this chapter in The Spell – Behind The Scenes but I still want The Spell has a true happy ending so I add it here as an epilogue.

You might not recognize but this day last year was the day I started to write the very first word of The Spell and to be honest I didn’t think I would ever receive many love like that from you guys with this story back then. That’s why I would like to thank (again and again) to all of you, my beloved readers, for supporting me in a whole year. Without you guys, I would never be inspired to complete it.

I will start a new long fic right away and I hope I still have all of you by my side.

From Luli with love <3
