The wish

The Spell

Luhan didn’t know what to think right now.

Running into his professor at a random resort was a rare chance but being asked to work with him after graduating was so beyond his expectation. They weren’t that close since they just knew each other not long ago and Wong Hao was famous for his style, alone wolf style. He didn’t have partner or accept any offer from other photographers. Some people didn’t like him because of this attitude but his spectacular photos spoke for their owner themselves.

Therefore when he told Luhan that he needed someone to assist him as he took a job in China and he thought the younger was a potential one, Luhan couldn’t help but grinning from ear to ear. It’s obviously easier for him to make a big step in this field if he had opportunity to cooperate with his professor than walking by himself. Besides, this job was in China, his homeland, even though he had nothing to complain about living in Korea, he missed being around people who talked in Mandarin.

However, when he spotted Sehun from afar, it hit him right on the face. Right, China might have everything he wanted but Korea possessed the most important one, his boyfriend. The big grin on his face automatically turned into a loving smile as the latter invaded his personal space, wrapped arm perfectly around his waist.

Wong Hao asked him to consider his offer and frankly he didn’t know where to begin the whole consideration thing. Nothing could be compared to his cutie pie and he would do whatever it took to be with by his side. But this chance was like one of a lifetime kind and would he regret if he let it go? And even though they always said to be together forever, they actually never discussed about where their relationship would go when he finished university.

The thinking made Luhan feel torn and it didn’t help much except for the fact that he was a little out of himself while having dinner with Sehun right now. The Chinese male blinked several times when he realized he was poking his steak and was glad that Sehun was focusing on cutting his food so he quickly cleared his throat to pull some attention.

“This place is nice.” he took a look around to find that it was quite deserted “I don’t know there is another restaurant up here.”

Sehun put down the knife, nodding in agreement

“Uhm, ever since they built a new restaurant near the spa central, not many people know about this one.”

The latter tilted his head, sensing a little catch in Sehun’s voice

“You seem…” he stopped, trying to find a right word “…..emotional.”

Sehun chuckled, sometimes he forgot how his boyfriend could read him so well.

“You know what, this is where Sora mom proposed to Chaerim mom.”

“Wow, really?” Luhan’s eyes couldn’t get any bigger at the news “You mean here, this restaurant?”

The younger one shook his head slightly, pointed his finger “No, I mean here, this table.”

Noticing his boyfriend was speechless for a moment, Sehun smiled, continued revealing the story, voice was filled with amusement as the flashback vision rushed back like a movie

“We come here every year to celebrate it. They always set the whole room with colorful peony flower, champagne and white candle. I was officially kicked out of their romantic scene when I turned eighteen, not that I bothered though.”

Across the table, Luhan covered his mouth and giggled. He could imagine Sehun would roll his eyes hundreds times whereas his moms enjoyed their lovey-dovey moment on the other side of the table. He swallowed a half full mouth of food before commented

“Sometimes I’m envious of them. How can they remain their affection on each other after thus years living together?”

The younger one shrugged his shoulders, took a huge gulp of water

“Sora mom said they were both young at that time and didn’t imagine how to support a family but she didn’t regret. All she wanted to do was to see Chaerim mom the first thing in every single day so she just went for it without thinking too much about future.”

Luhan bit his lower lip, every word kept sending chill down his spine and the smile Sehun was showing at the corner of his mouth gave a knot to his stomach. He hadn’t told his boyfriend yet about what his professor offered him and since they were on a particular topic, he guessed he could pull a string.

“Er…Sehun ah, can I ask you something?”

The seriousness in his voice made the latter shot him a questioning look before hesitantly spoke up “Sure. Go ahead.”

“Have you ever thought about future?”

Sehun gazed at him a second, his brows met in confusion as if he didn’t get where this conversation would go.

“You mean our future?”

Luhan was taken aback by the emphasis of the word “our”, but then just nodded his head in response.

Sensing the atmosphere around them was a little too tense, Sehun slowly leaned back on his chair, took a quick glance outside a window. The weather tonight was quite good just like the forecast. His lips curved into a contented smile as he dropped his eyes back to his baby deer.

“Of course I have. In fact I think too much I guess I might scare you away.”

“Like what?”

“Like how many boy and girl we will adopt, what we will call them, where we will live…, yeah, something like that.”

Luhan faked a jerking back, holding up his hands motioned the other to stop.

“True, I’m freaked out now.”

They both burst into laugh after that and frankly, it eased the Chinese boy’s mind pretty much. He sat with his chin propped up, tilted his head aside and asked softly.

“You really pictured all those things?” he stopped a bit before mumbled “with me?”

Sehun his hairs, his eyes never left the older one across the table. This was the first time they talked about it seriously and to be honest it was the right time. Luhan would graduate in two months and even though he hated it, Sehun couldn’t deny the fact that they wouldn’t be able to see each other as much as they were doing now. Not to mention they would live in different worlds, working – studying, and a little part of him was afraid that Luhan would meet many successful guys out there whereas he still stuck with his life inside the campus. Two years was a long time for a relationship and nothing guaranteed they remained the same after all.

However, there’s a thing called faith and he still believed their love was strong enough to last forever.

“Well, sometimes when we take a nap on the couch and I wake up first” Sehun leisurely spoke up “I think about what my mom said while watching you sleeping next to me. Then I realize I understand how she felt at that time.”

A slight shade of red crossed Luhan’s cheeks made him smile.  It was so unbelievable that his boyfriend was not used to his confessing yet.

“But I know it’s too soon to say any big word so let's just take it easy and live in the now.”

The Chinese boy flashed him a genuine smile and whispered

“Thank you, Sehun ah.”

The younger blinked “For what?”

Luhan looked around the room then wagged his finger to motion Sehun come closer

“For loving me.”

The softness of his voice and the sparkle in his eyes made Sehun fight the urge to cancel the next surprise he planned for Luhan to bring him back to their room, spin him down and own him the whole night. Luckily, he had more self control than he thought and frankly Sehun was glad he didn’t do that because Luhan’s  leap for joy when he saw the telescope on the top roof was so much more entertained.

*******

Luhan stirred under the cover at the loss of his warmth. He d around with eyes still close and unconsciously frowned as he found the spot where Sehun had occupied was empty. Lazily snapped his eyes open, he scanned the room and stopped at the bathroom door.

“Sehun ah?”

He called out with his sleepy voice, yawned out loud but there was no response.

Where did he go at this early?

Slowly crawling out of bed, he went fresh himself in order to not fall back asleep because simply he was not a morning person and easily got grumpy if he didn’t get enough sleep.

A second after he stepped out of the bathroom, something rang noisily. It took him a moment to realize it came from his phone as he hadn’t set up alarm since the beginning of this semester.

It’s weird.

First Sehun was missing, now this. Luhan tapped on the screen, about to press speed dial #1 when a message showed up.

From: cutie pie

Babe, sorry for waking you up. Come by the window!

Oh, so this is the “part” he meant before.

Luhan smiled as he rushed to the window, pulled off the curtain. The phone in his hand mostly was dropped off and his mouth formed a big “o” when he looked outside. There Sehun was, in the middle of a huge heart drawn on the snow, waving at him vigorously.

The Chinese wasted no time to grab a jacket and stormed out. He didn’t know whether because of his too fast running or because of the happiness all over the place that his heart was almost exploding inside.

When his boyfriend was within his vision, Luhan couldn’t help but grinning like an idiot who had just won a fortune. Well it’s kind of true because Sehun couldn’t be compared to anything but a fortune to him and him only.

“Sehun ah!”

He nearly jumped on the younger one, his arms wrapped the other’s neck to tug them into a tight hug.

Sehun laughed, planted a kiss on his cheek before pulling them apart, pinching his nose playfully

“You’re fast. You didn’t knock off anything on the way here, did you?”

Luhan stuck out his tongue, made him literally like a twelve-year-old boy

“I’m not that careless.”

Then he spun around, took a full view of the landscape before mischievously winked at Sehun, who was watching him the entire time with enjoyment on his face.

“So this is your surprise huh?”

To his astonishment, Sehun shook his head vaguely

“Not really.” he bended down a bit to lace their fingers together, swung them slightly “There is something really special I want to show you. But I don’t know if it happens this year or not so I drew this heart to make up for your waking up early, just in case….you know.”

Luhan’s lips tightened in a thin line. He peered behind Sehun’s shoulder to see what was so special that the Korean boy had planned all the way for him but got nothing but a never-ending space of snow-covered land.

“O…okay” he dropped his attention back to his boyfriend “Where is it?”

Sehun fished out his phone from the jacket’s pocket and smiled

“Just wait for a minute.”

Luhan jerked his head back a bit “Wait for what?”

“The sun”

The latter’s answer was not helping at all but Luhan chose to stay silent because he knew what that grin on Sehun’s face meant.

He’s gonna love what he’s about to see.

And he didn’t have to wait more than a minute. The rising warmth in the air told him that the sun had been out of the skyline. He tugged at Sehun’s sleeve to ask what was next and realized the latter was gluing his eyes on something else.

 Something above the sky.

“Wow”

That was all he could utter after a moment of contemplating the picture of nature in front of him.

A rainbow

Universal symbol of Harmony

The bridge between God and Man

Seven colors of magic, stood out from the white of the snow background, all glistening.

Sehun tilted his head aside and whispered against his ear.

“Make a wish!”

A wish?

He slowly shut his eyes, clasped his hands together and smiled.

I wish to be with Sehun forever.

They turned to see each other and by looking into their eyes, they know they had wished for the same thing.

“You too are really a nice couple.”

A familiar voice snapped both of them out of their loving moment.

Wong Hao was standing not far from them, holding his specialized camera. Sehun couldn’t help but shot him an unwilling look while Luhan broke their closeness, stepped toward his professor’s direction a bit with a wondering expression on his face

“Professor, what are you doing here?”

The elder man lifted his chin up, motion the magical show above the sky and explained

“My friend told me about this long time ago.” he checked the photos, contentedness written all over his face “I can’t believe I got to capture it.”

He held out his camera, signaled Luhan to come closer and see them but then he caught the scene of Sehun’s grip on his student’s waist, pulling him back into his possessive back hug.

The Chinese boy noticed the strange behavior of his cutie pie, he waved his hand to ease off the awkwardness.

“I’ll stop by your office on Monday.”

Wong Hao flashed a smirk at the young couple, turned off the machine and pulled his hood up

“Okay, I’ll give back you two your privacy.”

But before he could barely make any step, Luhan called out again

“Wait, Professor Wong.” he hesitated a bit before looked straight into the latter’s eyes “I’m sorry but I have to say no to your offer.”

The elder man’s brows met in confusion. He glanced at Sehun for a split of second before calmly asked

“Did you think about it thoroughly?”

“Yes, I….”

The ringing tone from his phone cut off the conversation. Luhan facial expression suddenly turned into an unreadable one. He squinted at the screen before sending an apologetic look to the other, excusing himself to pick up the phone.

“I’ll be right back.”

He patted Sehun’s shoulder and walked away, far enough to have a personal talk.

The silence aded the air around the other two. Sehun crossed arms against his chest and refused to make eyes contact with the older one. Wong Hao let out a small sigh before mumbled under his breath

“He stays because of you.”

Sehun wrinkled his forehead, hardly caught what the latter was saying

“Excuse me?”

“Sehun ah!”

Both of them darted their eyes to the said voice’s direction to see Luhan was running toward them, panting hard and looked….worried. Sehun had to reach out his arms to prop up the Chinese from falling.

“What’s wrong babe?”

“My mom…”Luhan cried out “She…she’s in the hospital.”
