The Spring Lake

The Spell

“Sehun ah…”

“No.”

“Pleasee….”

“I said no. And don’t try to put any aegyo on your face. You know it doesn’t work this time.”

Luhan huffed and sank down into his seat, arms crossed against chest pouting. They were on the way to Spring Lake Resort and since the weather was very nice, Sehun suggested that they should rent a car and drove themselves there. Of course the Chinese had no problem with that. In fact he was more than happy to enjoy a road trip with his boyfriend. What nagging him right now was Sehun didn’t let him drive even though the younger had just got his driving license not long ago whereas Luhan was more experienced than him.

And the reason why his boyfriend was all against the idea of Luhan sitting in the driving seat was because of no one but his stupid roommate’s story.

“You don’t love me!”

He said sulkily, pursing his lips in the way that he would win any of their battles. But today clearly was not his lucky day, Sehun just took a quick glance at him before glued his eyes again to the front, reached out to rub his thigh, comforting.

“Hey, don’t say that. You know I do love you.”

“Then why you don’t trust me?” Luhan retorted

“Of course I trust you” Sehun emphasized every words and before Luhan could open his mouth to protest again, he quickly added “But this one is different. It’s about our safety.”

There was no way he would leave their lives into the Chinese’s hand after he heard the experience Yixing had with the older boy.

“Yixing just overstated. I’m not that bad.”

Luhan tried again with his soft voice and puppy eyes, hoping that the latter could see how much he wanted to take the wheel. Though he had been traveled quite a lot, most of the time he chose to use public transportation and he missed driving. Then he made a mistake to ask his best friend to go with him that weekend to the beach. The highway at three o’clock was deserted and….

“Hyung said you reached the speed of 130km/h.”

Sehun reminded, made the Chinese smile contentedly at the flashback's emotion.

“And he claimed that you didn’t stop until he begged for his life.” Sehun continued, his voice was still filled with astonishment like the first time he heard the story. He already knew Luhan was very hyper when it came to speed but never did he think that his baby deer could ever practice his fantasy in real life.

“Oh come on” Luhan flapped his hands in the air, scrunching his nose a bit “It’s not like I was hurting him or something. We were safe and had a great time at the beach.”

He suddenly jumped up and grabbed Sehun’s elbow shaking violently

“Speaking of that, we should go there once Sehunnie!”

The younger one squealed in surprise “YAH, I’m driving!”

“Opps!! Sorry…”

Sehun knew there was no way he could make it to the resort without his heart bursting into pieces as Luhan kept grinning and distracting him with countless ohs, ahs along with a lot of shoulder bumping, arm gripping because apparently everything outside his window was more interesting than on Luhan’s side.

Luckily, he survived after long one and a half hour driving. They arrived at the resort around 11a.m and checked in. The Chinese boy looked around with amused expression all over his face, skipping here and there to take pictures until Sehun called out his name, exclaimed that they should go unpack before lunch.

The room was quite neat organized with few paintings decorated the wall. What impressed Luhan most was the big window where he could take a full view of the backside of the resort which was a boundless area full covered with snow. Actually he was hoping Sehun had successfully booked a room with lake view or at least garden view, but when he finally pulled off the curtain and darted his eyes to the space afar he knew this was how his boyfriend defined their relationship as something special.

“Hey, what are you looking at?”

Sehun back hugged him and landed his chin on Luhan’s shoulder. Luhan always enjoyed whenever the latter did this loving gesture. It made him feel safe and sound.

“Nothing” he murmured, entwined their fingers so that he could pull the younger male even closer “It’s beautiful out there Sehun ah.”

“I know.” the latter whispered against his neck’s skin, sending pleasant chill down his spine “But the out there part won’t happen within at least 18 hours so why don’t you get change so we can start the other parts soon?”

Luhan turned around with his eyes wide open, giving the Korean boy a questioning look.

“Parts?”

“Yep” Sehun chirped, pinching the latter’s cheek playfully “You’ll find out later. Now go, I’m starving.”

********

When they came downstairs there was another group of tourists checking in. Spring Lake was super crowded at this time of year as people tried to get them a last short vacation before snow stopped falling so what would be more perfect than a place right outskirts of Seoul with beautiful landscape along with various entertaining or relax services.

Luhan chose a table near the window-pane, tapping impatiently his finger on the table’s surface as his stomach growling from hunger. They must be finished their lunch by now if Sehun hadn’t been so stubborn and refused to say anything about his mysterious “parts”, even though Luhan had used all kind of aegyo to lure him.

“Stop sulking” Sehun chuckled as he noticed his baby deer had been giving him sideways look since they settled down “What kind of surprise it would be if I told you?”

Luhan pursed his lips, reasoning

“At least you could leave me a tiny hint.”

“I did!”

The Chinese boy narrowed his eyes’ brow confusingly “No...you didn’t”

“Yes I did.” Sehun confirmed again, sipping on his glass of water “I said it wouldn’t happen within 18 hours. That is some kind of hint.”

Luhan’s wrinkle on his forehead slowly disappeared with a simple “oh” and “it’s true”. However, they quickly came back when he began to analyze that sentence, realized that it even made him want to ask more about what was coming next.

“So that means it will happen very early in the morning outside. Hmmm, I wonder what it is. You didn’t plan a snow ball fighting, did you? Ahhh, it must be cold and I don’t think I bring enough warm clothes with me… Oh, I know it. Are we going to have a good time at the spring? But it’s hard to wake up at that time Sehun ah. Wait, don’t tell me you want to go skiing down from the hill. I know you’re trying to convince me the only way to get over my fear is to face it. But this is different. If you ever bring me up there, I swear you will have to carry me all the way down…”

Across the table, Sehun comfortably leaned back on his chair, admired every single expression on the other’s face. A curious Luhan always enlightened his mood. The tilting head, the biting lip, the scrunching nose, the arching brow, everything looked so damn cute as the latter kept talking nonstop. He loved it. His heart had stopped racing crazy like the first days they got together but it still beat loudly whenever Luhan glued his doe-like eyes on his as if he could sense his love from distance.

“Hey” the older male waved his hands to snap Sehun out of his daydream “Are you even listening to me?”

Sehun blinked, flashing a smile as the waiter finally brought out their orders.

“Of course I am. But I think your guessing can wait after we eat lunch right? I can hear your stomach crying for food from here.”

He knew Luhan was tired of his talking to himself game as the latter immediately grinned and dug into his plate. So he decided to let his boyfriend have another passion cheese cake for dessert to make up for his waiting and of course to stop him from losing more brain cells because of his own imagination.

This place didn’t change much since the last time he had been there. His moms had helped him a lot on booking them a spot here thanked to their good relationship with this resort’s owner. They were old friends back to university if Sehun didn’t mishear. His moms took him here almost every spring break because Chaerim mom wanted to go skiing before the snow melted away.

To speak the truth, Sehun lost his enthusiasm about the trip exactly on the second day. Don’t get him wrong but he was not a type of person who liked wandering around, enjoyed the fresh air and beautiful scenery or getting relaxed with massage treatment. He didn’t love skiing that much either. So you might wonder why he took Luhan to the place that he was already fed up with.  There was something he really wanted to show his baby deer, something he accidentally found out five years ago after a long hard-to-sleep night. But it was a rare chance and he was kind of hoping it was gonna happen this time.

‘’What do you want to do next?”

Luhan asked while munching on his cake, his tongue darted out to the sweet white cream at the corner of his mouth.

The younger one fought against his urge to take his boyfriend back to their room and ate him up for dessert. He finished his juice before reached out his hands to grab one of the brochures the other had taken from the lobby, scanning the paper.

“Uhmm, let me see. This trip is for you so whatever you want is fine by me.” he flipped over some pages, vaguely read it “The spa is quite good if you want some peaceful time. They also have various indoor and outdoor games but I don’t think it’s a good idea to exercise right after we eat. Or you can take a walk around. Ah, there is a small café shop where they play classical music if you have interest. And I believe they have a mineral spring somewhere near the entrance.”

Luhan’s eyes widen in surprise as the latter was sharing his knowledge.

“Wow, where did you get all the info?” he picked up the brochure, wondering how Sehun could know it so well when he hardly touched the book guide.

Sehun chuckled, somehow felt a little proud as the older one admired him.

“I’ve been here with my moms few times. It’s always their first choice when we have several days off. You know Sora mom is busy with her business throughout a year.”

The Chinese boy hummed back in response, clearly satisfied with the answer he got, dropped his attention on a particular page of the brochure again. A big grin gradually curved at the corner of his lips as he pointed into the paper

“This looks funny. Let’s try it.”

Sehun’s jaw dropped when he saw the picture in Luhan’s hand. It was a room decorated colorfully. And obviously it’s not a normal one. It’s karaoke.

Having passion for music didn’t mean you had to have a good voice. In Sehun’s case, not only he had low tone voice which made him sound terribly awful, he also didn’t know any song young people listened lately which made him like a person who was living in a cave for long time.

But Luhan was right. It was fun. Actually a lot of fun for the Chinese own good cuz he laughed hard during an hour they were there, Sehun was afraid he might throw up all his lunch. To look on the bright side, the taller male discovered that his baby deer sang pretty well. He wondered if there was anything that Luhan was lack of.

When he stepped out of the restroom, he saw Luhan was talking to someone with amusement all over his face. Noticing the younger boy was approaching his side, Luhan stopped the conversation to wait for him.

“Sehun ah, this is my professor, Mr. Wong.” he pulled the other’s wrist, his eyes sparkled of joy “I can’t believe we come across here. Such a small world!”

Sehun bowed politely at the elder man who was examining him with unreadable expression. Wong Hao quickly nodded his head in response, shifted his eyes back to his student, asking hesitantly

“So, he is the model we talked about isn’t he?”

“Yes he is.” Luhan winked, even pulled Sehun closer as if he wanted to claim and he’s mine too proudly “He fits the concept well, doesn’t he?”

Again, the elder male scanned Sehun from head to toe before shrugged his shoulder

“We’ll see it soon. Okay, I gotta go. Remember to hand me report on time.”

With that he his heels, heading to the spa central but spun around after took a few steps. Sehun swore he stole an uneasy glance at him before gazed at Luhan seriously

“And consider my offer too.”

Luhan tightened his lips a bit then flashed a cheerful smile to his professor.

“I will. Have a great time Professor Wong!”

The Korean boy wanted to know what kind of offer they were talking about but reading the expression on Luhan’s face plus the awkward look Wong Hao had given him previously, he decided to leave it aside. The trip had just begun and it was unnecessary to ruin the moment by pushing the latter into ask-answer game. Everything could wait until he showed Luhan how much he loved him, how much he wished to be with him for the rest of his life.
