The tree house

The Spell

Luhan shifted quietly between the embrace of the younger boy. He had tried to sleep several times but no use, his eyes kept open wide staring at the ceiling. To his surprise, Sehun didn’t do anything except wrapping around his waist and whispering a good night into his ear. But that was not the reason of his hard sleeping. He found himself being unpleasant, sulking at the fact that the latter just went straight to sleep and left him lying here, feeling lost.

He gently lifted Sehun’s arm up to slide out.

“Where are you going?”

The grip on his elbow made him almost squeal in scare. Sehun slowly got up, rubbing his eye with the back of his hand. The Chinese male turned his face away even though he was sure the other couldn’t see clearly in the dark.

“I…I’m thirsty.”

“Oh. I’m going with you.”

Luhan was about to part his mouth to protest but then realized he would wake up everybody in the middle of his half way downstairs.

They walked on their tiptoes, avoided making any unnecessary noise. When they reached the kitchen, Sehun pushed the older one into a chair and walked toward the fridge.

“I’ll make you some warm milk.” he said with his back still facing Luhan, the cooker.

In his place, Luhan placed both his elbow on the table, watching his boyfriend doing his work. He never noticed that Sehun had such a broad shoulder and a long waist. The oversize pajamas made him look cuter, even from behind.

The Korean boy handed a cup of hot milk to him and kept one for himself before taking the opposite seat.  Luhan took a small gulp, closed his eyes and enjoyed the feeling of warm sweet liquid down through his throat.

When he was back to reality, Sehun was locking his gaze on him questioningly.

“Tell me what’s annoying you.”

Luhan’s jaw dropped.  Sometimes he wondered how the other could know what he was thinking without even trying to guess. He bit his lower lip, hesitated a moment before looked straight into Sehun’s eyes. There’s no need to hide his query from his boyfriend, right?

“Are you tired of me?”

The younger boy almost choked on his drink, narrowed his brows. Even though there twisted a knot in his stomach, he kept his voice steady.

“What are you talking about?”

“You hear me.” Luhan repeated his question, his face showing the seriousness “Are you tired of me?”

“No. Of course not.”

Sehun couldn’t help but yelling a bit but quickly covered his mouth, unconsciously looking up to see if his voice woke up anyone. After few seconds, seeing that they were safe, he dropped his eyes on the boy sitting across the table, leaned in.

“Where did you get that crazy idea? Did I do something wrong?”

Luhan shook his head in response. The messy bang on his forehead moved in harmony. The stare from the younger boy made him so nervous. He tightened his grip on the cup, lowered his head to confess.

“I…I know I'm giving you a hard time lately. But trust me, I want you just as much as you do. It's just…I'm…I have….”

Words were stuck at the base of his throat. He felt like a school girl who was admitting her first crush on a hot boy and afraid of being rejected.

“It’s okay. I get it.”

Luhan looked up to see the latter was smiling lovingly at him.

“I won’t push you. I promise.”

Sehun confirmed, this time reached out to grab his baby deer’s hand. He mentally sighed in relief as he was afraid the worst thing would happen. He loosened his grip, patted his thigh to motion the Chinese boy to come over.

“Don’t ever scare me like that” he pinched Luhan’s nose, made the other wince “I thought you’re going to break up with me.”

Letting out a giggle, Luhan nodded his head slightly then placed his chin on Sehun’s shoulder. It felt so great to pour out the sorrow that weighed down in his heart.

“But still” the younger boy continued, pulled him away “I was offended.”

“Huh?”

“You had doubt on me?”

Ten minutes ago, Luhan thought it was really a big deal but now, when his boyfriend was asking about it, he suddenly had a feeling of being stupid to say it out loud.

“I…we… you didn’t even kiss me goodnight earlier. I felt like being left behind, that you don’t need me anymore… I…I don’t know…”

His cheeks were heated up with a slight pink on both sides. Sehun couldn’t help but chuckled. Could he get any cuter?

“I didn’t kiss you because if I did, I was afraid of wanting more than that. And even though I hate that tan third wheel sleeping next to us, I don’t want him to be suffered from our make-out.”

“Really?”

“Umm.”

Luhan giggled again, threw his arms over the younger’s shoulder, dug his face into the crook of the latter’s neck and breathed against his skin. Many people thought that their relationship was just some kind of a fling, it wouldn’t last long. But just when he thought he couldn’t love Sehun any more then every day passing by had proved him wrong. He fell in love with him deeper each day.

“Luhan.”

Sehun softly whispered, playing with curl of his hair.

“Hmm?”

“I won’t rush you into anything but don’t make me wait too long okay. I will not get tired of you but I might go crazy.”

Luhan blinked several times then nodded his head while beaming brightly. Frankly, he didn’t think the other had to wait because he surely couldn’t get a hold on him that much longer.

*************

“What are you two going to do today?”

Jongin asked casually while pouring himself a cup of milk. He intended to spend the whole day with the couple but his parents just called to inform their arrival so being a good son as always, he had to pick them up at the airport and drive them home safely.

Sehun took a look outside the window. The weather was beautiful with slight sunlight and it had stopped snowing for an hour now. It was perfect for a walk to the park or a sight-seeing around the neighborhood.

Luhan finished his sandwich, wiped his mouth with the back of his hand before spoke up

“What are you suggesting?”

The tan boy leaned his back on the edge of the table, tapping a finger on his chin thinking.

“Uhm… let’s me see.” then he clapped his hand excitedly “Ah, you should take him to the tree house Sehun.”

What are you? Eight?

Sehun winked his brows, shook his head in disagreement.

“I don’t think Luhan wants to go to the tree house….”

But his voice trailed off as he saw the puppy eyes the Chinese was looking at him. He paused a few second to be sure he didn’t misunderstand his boyfriend’s censoring message.  No blinking?

Then he turned back to Jongin, rolling his eyes in disbelief

“…but I guess I was wrong.”

The dancer gave him a smirk and a I-know-your-baby-deer-better-than-you kind of look, made Sehun mentally groaned even more.

“So?” he raised his voice, found it amused to tease the younger one.

“We’ll go to the tree house.”

Luhan had never been to this excitement before. He remembered seeing the tree house in movies where the children went there to play and wished he could have one on his own. Now there was one right in front of him. He squinted, lifted his hand to shadow his eyes as he looked up and admired the little piece of work the younger was showing him.

It was a typical tree house which was located not far from Sehun’s high school. Judging from the outside, Luhan guessed it was built quite long ago. The house was painted red brown and there was a woodened latter which in his opinion was a little bit abrupt for his safety.

The Korean boy gripped his shoulder, snapped his out of his observation.

“Let’s go up there, shall we?”

The older male hesitated for a moment, glanced back to the upper house. As if understanding the worry of his boyfriend, Sehun pushed him forward, patted his to encourage.

“Don’t be scared, I’ll catch you if you fall.”

“I’m not scared.” Luhan weakly protested, trying to hide his shaking voice. He always had a thing for height since he was young and even though he knew Sehun wouldn’t let anything happen to him, his adrenaline was going up uncontrollably making his palms all wet with sweat.

He moved toward the ladder, grabbed the step tightly and slowly climbed up one by one. From the ground, Sehun fought hard to resist the urge of laughing out loud at the fact that the Chinese had his eyes shut all the way there while asking him continuously how many steps were left.

When they finally got inside, both of them dropped their jaws for different reasons.

Sehun was surprised at its cleanness. As he remembered clearly, he and Jongin didn’t come around since last summer which meant almost six months since then.

Luhan, on the other hand, was skipping around with amusement all over his face, checking here and there to find if there was anything interesting. He only stopped when he saw a small first aid kit in the corner of the house, covered by a worn out blanket. He assumed it was used for the two younger boys after their fights at school.

“How long have you been friend with Jongin?”

He asked out of nowhere, back still faced the other. Sehun tapped his chin thinking for a second “About seven years.”

“He’s really a good friend right?” it sounded more like a comment than a question as Luhan turned around to see his boyfriend, who was now sitting on the floor with his back against the woodened wall.

“He’s my brother. I wouldn’t be who I am right now without him.”

There was no hesitation or exaggeration in his voice. It’s true and sincere.

Luhan scooted over, flashing his understanding smile.

“I think I should thank him once.”

“For what?”

“For keeping you out of danger.” he cupped the younger’s face, caressed every inch of it “for helping me get close to you, know you and falling in love with you.”

“God, you’re so cheesy.” Sehun rolled his eyes, a tint of slight pink made it way to his cheek.

“It’s because I’m with you.” Luhan chuckled

“Shut up and kiss me!”

Luhan was 100% sure he was ready for anything with Sehun. No, more than that, he wanted more of the younger one.

More touch, more passion and more connection.

That’s why when the Korean male slightly pushed him down on the cold woodened floor, crawling on top of him and ate him up with lustful eyes, he didn’t give a second thought of grabbing the other one’s hand and slid it under his shirt.

Sehun broke their kiss at the sudden move but the tender smile his boyfriend gave him assured what happened was not just a dream.

He bended down again to plant a peck on the older’s pink lips, whispering

“Are you sure? I mean last night…”

He didn’t have chance to finish his sentence as Luhan’s finger already pressed against his lips, motioned him to stop.

“Forget it! I want you.”

That was all Sehun needed to hear. He had pictured more than once his first time with Luhan but none of them happened here, inside the tree house, where connected closely to many of his childhood memories. But he didn’t care. Actually his mind was now too far away to have any concern except for the Chinese’s flawless body under him.

This is the best New Year….

“Hey look, someone is in our house.”

….ever.
