The party

The Spell

Midnight was the official closing hour for three dorms established in SIA Regulation. After this, the main gate of each dorm would be closed and those students who didn’t come back in time had to inform in advance to their Manager for record. There were also some strict rules related to alcohol, inviting your friends over night or raising a pet.

Therefore when Chanyeol suggested the idea of playing games and sleeping over at Sehun and Suho room to welcome new members had just become their roommates in block S this morning, the leader was fighting hard against his will to party all night. After quite long minutes pointing all the impossible troubles they might get into if the Manager found out, all of them were unanimous in just gathering until midnight.

Luhan was sitting on the floor upstairs, trailing his fingers along the “L” letter printing on the hat, couldn’t help but smiling like an idiot. He believed he had been sitting there for quite long minutes now because he started not able to feel his legs any more. The fact that Sehun had bought him a gift was so beyond his imagination. He remembered Jongin had told him that Sehun rarely bought someone gifts unless he really cared about that person. But he was not just surprised. The Chinese boy was happy, no more than that, he believed he was running here and there in nine clouds.

The too much smile over just a one hat of Luhan caught Yixing’s eyes. Throughout three years known each other, the dancer has never seen his beloved ge in such a lightened mood like this, not even when he won the first prize with his collection. Someone seemed to be in love.

“Ge, what are you doing?”

Luhan was pulled out of his daydream, jerked back to see his old roommate making his way toward his direction. Grinning wide, he waved his hand to call the younger boy.

“Guess what?”

The excitement in Luhan’s voice made him look like he had just won a million dollars. Yixing shook his head, dropped his eyes on the hat on the other’s hand, wondering what was with this thing.

“Sehun gave me this.” the older male beamed “He also had another one with a ‘S’. Isn’t it cute?“

The dancer sat next to his ge, examined the hat and winkled his brows thinking. That’s it? Just a little thing to cover his head from a picky violinist could send his mind to heaven. How this impossible….unless…

He gave back the other the hat, crossed his arms and looked deep into Luhan’s eyes.

“Ge, you are under the spell!”

It didn’t sound like Yixing at all, a person who always talking about logic and reason.

“What’s spell?”

Luhan asked worriedly, the unusual tone of his dongsaeng told him that it’s not a joke.

“The blind date one.”

The older boy stayed stupefied for almost ten seconds until he realized what Yixing was talking about. He smacked the younger male’s arm, put his hat back to the drawer Sehun had tidy up for him, grimaced slightly.

“First is Tao, now you. Minseok really spread his nonsense to all of you, did he?”

Rubbing the red spot on his arm, the dancer winced in pain before stated the matter of fact.

“No, I’m serious ge. You are falling in love with Sehun.”

Those words were like ringing tone of bell inside Luhan’s head. He parted his lips to protest but turned out frozen in his position, with his mouth open and dazed expression all over his face. Many thoughts ran through his mind and he had no time to process any of them. It never occurred to him that he could love that boy. Of course the Korean male always gave him some kind of strange attraction but he only told himself that was because he wanted Sehun to be his model so bad, not because he had that feeling for him.

That was not love right? Just because his heart fluttered over a hat, like it had an autograph of someone famous, didn’t mean anything.

Or it did?

Yixing had to wave his hands several times to take his ge back. The older one seemed to be shocked for his own thinking of everything.

“Ge, are you okay?”

Luhan blinked, shifted his eyes to his dongsaeng, his face was written with no-I’m-not-okay countenance but he quickly covered it by a strained smile.

“I’m fine. Just lost in thoughts for a moment.”

He was glad Yixing dropped it there and not mentioned about the whole falling in love thing again because he wouldn’t know what to say if they kept going on that topic. However the silence remained after was kind of torturing. Luhan was the first one stood up, pulling Yixing with him downstairs where the other ones were preparing drinks and snacks for the party, left his issue aside temporarily.

This would be a long night!

***********

The party was enjoyable but quite unconnected when they split into small group chitchatting or playing games. Noticing the atmosphere was slow down, Chanyeol nudged his roommate on his side, motioned him to carry out the plan they had made previously. Baekhyun nodded his head understandingly, took a deep breath before called out.

“Hey guys, the party is falling apart. How about playing a game together, all of us?”

Everyone stopped whatever they were doing, averted their attentions to the voice’s direction. After exchanging looks to each other, they slowly gathered into a circle, wondering what kind of game that could involve 9 people, including three new Chinese boys: Luhan, Yixing and Tao who had just moved in.

“Okay, let me get you all through the rule.” Baekhyun clapped his hands excitedly announced. As Chanyeol’s suggestion, they were going to play baccarat because it was simple and more important, they could play altogether. It was a long time since their last hang out and to make it unforgettable, it must be fun, like real fun.

“The person who has the lowest point will be punished” he stopped to reach out for the backpack behind, fished out two bottles of soju, grinning “with this.”

Suho’s eyes popped open, D.O choked on his juice and Luhan covered his mouth right when those bottles caught their eyes.

Oh God, please don’t let me the last one.

The first round: Luhan peeked the last card in his hand, palpitated with fear. He had been drunk once, in high school and from then he crossed his heart to not ever let himself in that situation again. His drinking capability was alright, two or three cans of beer he could handle but when it came to soju, he couldn’t guarantee anything.

Four, I need a four……Fo…. Dammit!

He threw his cards on the floor in frustration. The others burst into laugh and Baekhyun happily poured out a cup of soju handed to the oldest boy. Luhan winced as he swallowed the bitter liquid through his throat. Chanyeol flashed his creepy smile, patted his hyung teasing

“The first step is always the hardest hyung. You’ll get used to it.”

Well, it was true. After lost for the fifth time, he actually didn’t feel anything. Today his luck was not with him, even when he and D.O had the same point and they had to play tie-break to define who would be the one got purnished, he couldn’t beat against the younger boy.

“Okay, thank to Luhan hyung, we already run out of soju.” Suho pointed the Chinese male who was leaning his head on Yixing’s shoulder, his face was all pink due to the affection of alcohol.

“I think you should make some hangover soup for him tomorrow D.O hyung.” Tao suggested, sending his concern to his ge.

All of them nodded their head agree, including D.O, who silently taking note the first task to do in the next morning.

It was almost 11h30 pm when they finished cleaning up and left to their own rooms. Sehun stood with his arms crossed, staring at the sleeping boy on the sofa. He was the only one who didn’t lose any game and that meant not a drop of soju was in his stomach. Suho joined him from behind, chuckled.

“He looks like an angel, doesn’t he?”

“Yeah, an angel without wings.” The younger male shrugged, then turned around to face the leader “You should rest too hyung. I’ll take care of him.”

Suho looked at his classmate one more time before his heels to his bed, pinching forehead to shoo away the slight headache which was getting worse. Maybe he should ask D.O to make some soup for him too.

After stretched out the futon and blanket for the Chinese boy, Sehun struggled to carry him piggy back upstairs, tried as much as possible for not waking up the sleeping one. However, right when he settled the latter down, he slipped over, making both of them fall on the futon, with him all over the older male.

Luhan stirred, half opened his eyes to see someone was lying above him. He tried to catch the figure but no success as it was too dark and he was tipsy with the heady bouquet of alcohol. The person started to crawl off him while rubbing his wrist in pain. The scent of that person snapped him back. Luhan quickly grabbed the younger boy’s hand, made the other lost his balance and fell down again.

The conversation with Yixing previously suddenly made its way back to his foggy mind. Am I falling in love with him?

“Ge, there is one easy way to check if you like someone or not.” Tao closed the magazine, put it on the table and leaned forward to placed both his elbow on it.

Kris peeked over the youngest boy’s hand to see the title of the magazine then chuckled.

“Oh, doctor of Love Tao is on again?”

Tao threw the President a sideways look, ignored the mocking tone from the other, continued with his serious facial expression.

“I mean, really, it’s proved to work.”

“What is it?” Luhan’s curiousness was surely his charm.

Tao flashed his pleasant smile, at least someone finally paid attention to his words.

“Kiss and you will know.”

Luhan slid his hands up until they were cupping around the other’s face. With the condition of his right now, he was half sure he would forget everything that was going to happen. But his mind was not fully awake to warn him the consequence he might get the morning after. All he wanted to do was to answer that damn question that was ringing all the time inside his head.

He closed his eyes, pulled the Korean boy down until there was no place between their face. The moment their lips crashed together, Luhan knew that he could forget anything but this overload sweetness which was taking control him right now was definitely something he would remember for the rest of his life. And that was enough for him to drift into the drowsiness.

I want more.
