Chapter 26: Shower

For A Happy Ending

Hey guys!! Sorry about the absence of pictures, I'll amke it up next time.... Hope you enjoy this chappie <33333

"Eep."

Myungsoo coughed, and tried to come up with a more masculine noise. "Oh. Sorry."

Sungyeol grabbed him by the hand, and Myungsoo froze.

"You were taking so long. I thought you'd gone to sleep without me or something..." Sungyeol gave him a disapproving look.

Myungsoo stuck the towels and fresh clothes out in front of him defensively. "I was just getting these..."

Sungyeol sighed impatiently. "Okay, now can we shower?"

Back in the bathroom, Myungsoo avoided his gaze, as Sungyeol slipped off the last article of clothing. Arms left hanging idly and uselessly at his side, Myungsoo found himself only able to stare at the pile of clothes in the corner on the floor. He shouldn't, musn't think about Sungyeol, standing so close behind him, absolutely, completely, stark...

"Yah, aren't you getting out of your clothes?" Sungyeol's voice sounded closer than Myungsoo had expected, and when the boy's breath ghosted over his ear, Myungsoo shuddered.

"Y-yeah. I am..." Myungsoo fiddled with his shirt.

Sungyeol made an impatient clicking noise at the back of his throat, and stepped forward to help Myungsoo. Sungyeol leaned forward, bare chest pressing against Myungsoo's back as they drew Myungsoo's shirt over his head together. Myungsoo drew in a sharp breath at the action, because something had reacted down there. This couldn't be good.

Sungyeol was a friend.

A friend.

Friend.

Myungsootried unsuccessfully to drum that idea into his head. His hands flew down to his belt, that Sungyeol had already started unbuckling. Myungsoo bit his lips so hard it drew blood. No. Not there. Anywhere but there.

But Sungyeol didn't seem to notice, and it was all Myungsoo could do to slap his hand away with a grunt. Something was reacting rather strongly at that moment, and Myungsoo didn't want Sungyeol to find out. What would Sungyeol think? Myungsoo looked down at his misbehaving body part.

Wanting to caress Sungyeol during the kiss was bad enough, but this was really crossing the line. Myungsoo had to face the fact, but now, stuck in the shower with a Sungyeol was probably the worst place he could ever pick to face it. Myungsoo didn't trust himself at not losing his cool...

"Hurry up." Sungyeol slapped him on the back, then stepped into the shower cubicle, and the shower. Under the cover of the sound of running water, Myungsoo heaved a heavy sigh, turned his eyes imploringly towards high heaven, took a deep breath, and pulled back the shower curtain to step in beside Sungyeol. Reaching blindly with one hand (Myungsoo kept his eyes up), Myungsoo felt the warm water, and fumbled for the tap. He turned the heater all the way to cold.

Sungyeol made a yelping noise and jumped away from the spray of water.

"What'd you do that for?! It's winter, you idiot. That's the season for long hot showers!" Sungyeol protested, trying to turn the hot water back on again, but Myungsoo kept a firm grip on the handle. He didn't think he could stand a steamy shower with Sungyeol. He needed the freezing water to help him keep a hold of himself.

"I like cold showers." Myungsoo lied. He thought hot showers were the best thing in the world on a cold winter's day. Well. Maybe second to nothing but Sungyeol. But that was beside the point.

Sungyeol pouted in the direction of Myungsoo (he really, really hated cold showers), but it had no effect on Myungsoo because he had his back facing Sungyeol, and was focused only on the tap. Sungyeol vaguely wondered what was so mesmerising about the tap. For some reason, after the kiss, Sungyeol wanted to be selfish. Sungyeol didn't want to share Myungsoo's attention with anything else (not even the tap). Sungyeol wanted Myungsoo to look only at him. He sighed inwardly. He'd stopped lying to himself about being obsessed. Kissing, and desiring the sole attention of Myungsoo wasn't something a best friend would feel. Perhaps there was more to this mixed bundle of emotions locked away in his heart somewhere. And Sungyeol was kind of afraid of that.

"Yah, turn around." Sungyeol grabbed Myungsoo's shoulders and tugged, and Myungsoo spun around in one piece, like a chunk of ice or something. Myungsoo's eyes were still fixated on a spot on the ceiling.

Sungyeol raised an eyebrow. Why was Myungsoo behaving so weirdly?

He thought back to how he'd helped Myungsoo out of his shirt earlier, because Myungsoo had hesitated for so long, and Sungyeol was afraid that the boy'd escape once more. Seeing Myungsoo's bare shoulders, having his chest press up against Myungsoo's back did funny things to his mind. All Sungyeol had wanted to do at that moment, was to feel his way over every bump and curve on Myungsoo's back, his shoulders, and run his lips over Myungsoo's neck...

He was getting ahead of himself. Sungyeol tried not to notice his blood rushing away from his head to a region significantly lower down. He hoped Myungsoo wouldn't notice either.

Smiling a little at how silly Myungsoo looked, Sungyeol grabbed the back of Myungsoo's neck, and made Myungsoo's head tilt downwards, so that Myungsoo had no choice but to look Sungyeol in the eye. They stayed like that for a long moment, Sungyeol's fingers buried in Myungsoo's hair, and their faces awkwardly close, as if memerised by each other's little black orbs, as if trying to read each other's minds.

Sungyeol broke away first, although his heart screamed at him to stay a little while longer.

Squeezing some shampoo into his hand, Sungyeol lathered his hair, grinning when Myungsoo still stayed frozen in his spot. Finishing with his own head, Sungyeol took some more shampoo in his hand, and replaced his hands in Myungsoo damp hair. All the time that Sungyeol spent soaping Myungsoo's hair, Myungsoo's intense gaze never left his face. And so Sungyeol was happy.

Myungsoo reluctantly broke away to cover his body in soapy suds.

"I'll wash your back." Myungsoo offered.

His voice was lower than it was usually, and for some reason, it sent little shivers running up and down Sungyeol's spine. Sungyeol flashed a grin, nodded, and passed the soap to Myungsoo. Slowly, gently, Myungsoo placed both palms on Sungyeol's shoulders, and rubbed in smooth, circular directions, savouring the feel of Sungyeol's skin under his hands. Myungsoo moved downwards, further along his back.

By the time he was done, both boys were grateful for the cold water that (just barely) quelled am unexpected heat within.

"Myungsoo..." Sungyeol dwadled by the door, "I don't really have to go, you know..."

Myungsoo shook his head.

"I don't want to keep you from anything. Go on..."

Sungyeol sighed. He wanted to spend more time with Myungsoo. Why had he told Myungsoo he needed to get going earlier on in the park. He couldn't think of any excuse now to stay for a while longer (maybe even for the night).

"Ah! Wait!" Myungsoo dashed inside, then reappeared with Sungyeol's book of fairytales. "Don't forget this."

When Myungsoo passed the book to Sungyeol, something small fell out. Myungsoo bent down, and was about to apologise for losing his page, when he took a second glance at the little piece of paper. It was a calendar, and Myungsoo saw two dates marked out, and he couldn't help but take note of them.

"Here." Myungsoo passed it to Sungyeol, who hurriedly stuffed it back into his book, out of sight once more.

Sungyeol turned to leave again.

Myungsoo watched his back, and felt something was off. he'd done alot of thinking in the shower, and he'd come to face something he was terrified of admitting.

"Sungyeol." Myungsoo looked at the way the boy turned so eagerly back to look at him. And that gave him courage to rush forward, grip the back of Sungyeol's neck, and smash their lips together for the second time that day.
