Love Him Like I Did

They arrived at the front drive of the hospital. Yunho’s driver dropped them off there and informed him that he’d be in the basement parking lot.

“Can I trust the doctors here?” he asked Hwaeun, and that made her frown while the two younger people were just quietly following them. She crossed her arms and stopped walking, and with the three following her, they had also stopped on their tracks. “For your information, the doctors here are genuine. They’re not frauds.” She bit out. “Doctor Choi was the one who took care of Jaejoong ah here in the hospital, and I trust him.”

At the name, Yunho’s eyes narrowed. “Doctor Choi?” he asked, and Hwaeun glared. “Yes. He’s a doctor who came here three years ago.”

“Hyung…” Yunho heard his cousin whisper, and not wanting to upset his peace loving cousin, he raised a hand, indicating to Yoochun that he got it. “I know. Sorry, Yoochun ah.”

Hwaeun couldn’t help but eye the two men. So he did have a heart. She thought, looking at the expression of the younger cousin which distorted but was beginning to relax.

“Don’t think and say anything yet, hyung.” Yoochun said. “We’ll have to see first.” The woman in their group frowned. “See what?” she asked, and Yunho turned to her with a shake of his head. “Like my cousin said, I’m not going to say anything until I see it first.”

Okay, she was lost. “See what?” she asked again, this time a bit irritated. Yunho casted a glance on Hwaeun. “Hwaeun ssi, stop asking let us please meet this Doctor Choi that you speak of.” He gritted his with the last part, and instead of throwing a retort, Hwaeun kept shut. She saw the angry look in Yunho’s eyes and didn’t want to counter it, because if looks could kill, she would’ve died already even if the look wasn’t directed at her. What did she say?

“Make sure that the appointment is with that bastard.” He said curtly, and this time her temper sky rocketed. “Watch your mouth!” she screamed. It was late at night, but she didn’t care. “He was nice enough to care for Jaejoong ah even after his time here in the hospital.” Yunho growled at her. “Never talk about that man in a nice way to my face!”

She stepped back when he stepped forward. Anger was clearly radiating from him, and if she provoked him any further, she didn’t have any idea what he’ll do to her. But she noticed the quiet approach of his cousin behind him, who caught her eyes as he bowed to her and raised a hand that landed on Yunho’s shoulder.

After that, it was a blur, and the next thing Hwaeun saw was a Yunho who had his back against her and his neck tilted whilst Yoochun had a raised arm that crossed him and had a stern look on his face.

“Enough, hyung.” The younger man said with a black voice. He had dropped his hand to his side. “I told you not so say anything yet. We don’t know who it is yet. It might just be a doctor with the same family name.”

Yunho tilted his neck back in place as he looked at his younger cousin.

A long period of silence hung between the two men.

“Please,” a weak voice said, breaking the silence and making three heads turn behind them. “Changmin ah might wake up. So please, limit the shouting.”

Yoochun sighed first. “I apologize, Junsu ssi.” He said and turned back to his older cousin. “I apologize, hyung.” He said and instead of receiving a glare or a scold, he received a slowly shaken head. “It is alright, my dear cousin. It is I who should apologize.” He turned to Hwaeun and it surprised her to see a smile. It was an apologetic smile, but it was a smile nonetheless. “I…it’s okay.” She stuttered, and another silence occurred.

“Well then,” it was Yunho who broke the silence this time. “Shall we go in?”

Hwaeun wasn’t comfortable with the Yunho that stood in front of her. He was the snarky type, and he was obviously not the gentle and understanding type, and what made her uncomfortable is that he was currently gentle and understanding, which is just confusing her too much.

“Of course.” Hwaeun heard herself answer, and then she turned around and without saying anything, proceeded.

Yunho followed.

Junsu and Yoochun were left. The older of the two sighed. “I apologize you had to see that.” Junsu looked up to his side and saw the apologetic look the older man had. He shook his head and smiled faintly. “ It’s not worth apologizing for, Yoochun ssi.” He said. “I found it quite amusing, to be honest.” Junsu chuckled and all Yoochun did was blink. “It’s my first time seeing noona like this. The over protective side of her really comes out when it concerns Jaejoong hyung, so I can’t really blame her.?” then he stared at the back of the two older figures.

Yoochun couldn’t help but feel mesmerized by the boy’s smile.

“An angel,” he murmured and noticed that Junsu had turned his head. “Pardon me?” Junsu blinked up innocently at Yoochun. He sighed. “It’s nothing.” Yoochun answered quietly. “Let’s go.” Junsu paused a bit then nodded and started to walk, following Yunho and Hwaeun, who had just entered the hospital doors.

“Yes, Doctor Choi is available.” The nurse at the reception area informed them, and Hwaeun thanked the nurse and pulled away, soon leading the wait to Doctor Choi’s office.

Hwaeun led them to the elevator, which she entered. She pressed the button for the third floor and held the door open as the other three got on. She couldn’t help but notice the warm atmosphere that was between Junsu and Yunho’s cousin. She smiled lightly. This looks like a relationship that will last.

The doors closed and the elevator went up. Not that long later, the doors had opened once again and they stepped out of the elevator. Hwaeun noticed that Yoochun’s hand that was resting on Junsu’s waist, as if to support him. She smiled again, and it seemed like the younger of the two didn’t mind, in fact, Junsu didn’t even seem to notice that his hand was there, showing how comfortable he was with the older man since his attention was directed on the baby he was carrying.

“Here we are.” She said a bit later when she stopped in front of the fifth door to the right.

Yunho stared at the initials on the door, his eyes widening.

Doctor Choi S. MD

So it is him?

Without knocking, Yunho had forced the door open, surprising Hwaeun.

“What on earth do you think you’re doing?” she shrieked and ran inside the door, only to collide with a solid wall named Jung Yunho who was standing still. “What the heck?” she swore as she slowly fell backwards, but Yoochun had steadied her by grabbing her arms.

She turned and looked up. “Thank you.” She said and Yoochun answered with a smile, but it had immediately dropped when Yunho stepped out od the way to reveal a figure who was sitting elegantly on a chair, a cup in his hands. But the expression on his face had an I-knew-you-were coming- expression.

Hwaeun was confused now. She looked at the looks the three gave each other. Looks that gave off the sense of familiarity,

“Doctor Choi , I’m so sor—” she started, only to be cut off by the shaking head of the seated man. “It’s alright, Hwaeun ssi.” He said in a deep voice. “I know them.”

She gaped. He did?

Well, to be honest, who wouldn’t? when their faces and names were always printed on the newspaper or magazine or whatnot.

“Know us?” Yunho’s earlier hostility had come back, but this time, even his voice dripped with hate. “You bastard, how can you not know us when—”

“Stop saying rude things!” Hwaeun exclaimed.

“We happen to be your relatives?” Yunho continued as if Hwaeun hadn’t spoken.

This time, she gaped, both mouth and eyes wide open. “Relatives?” she asked, and this time, the man sitting down stood up and walked over to them. “I am Choi SIwon, Yunho’s older cousin and Yoochun’s older brother.” He stated when he was standing in front of them.

She stared in disbelief and looked back up at the man that was standing behind her. “He’s my half-brother, to be exact.” Yoochun said blankly.

“Stop talking,” Yunho said to Siwon who was looking at him with a smile. “We didn’t come here for idle chit-chat. We came her for one reason, and only one reason, and that is not to talk to a bastard like you.” He said bitterly. “And that is—”

“To know whether or not you are Changmin ah’s biological father,” SIwon challenged confidently. “Is it not?”

You bastard. Yunho cursed as the silent battle between him and his cousin continued.
