Love Him Like I Did

Yunho was on his way back to the hotel he was staying at while he was in Gongju.

He had noticed that whenever he mentioned or thought of Gongju, a faceless person would always appear in his mind, and he would always wonder who it was.

In the car’s silence, his phone ringed, breaking the solemnity inside the car. He took his phone out and checked for the caller ID.

Merciless .

Yunho had remembered now. Gongju meant that ’s hometown. He remembered when he changed the name from something so dear and loving to something hateful. He just wished that the meeting here would end so that he wouldn’t have to see that person by accident or something. He didn’t even know why he still had his number, but he couldn’t bear deleting it back then, even now.

Not wanting to talk to the caller, he had hung up. But after a few seconds, it began to ring again.

“You just won’t give up, won’t you?” he glared at the phone, and at the third ring, he cancelled the call once again.

That should do it. Yunho thought to himself when his phone didn’t ring.

It rang again. “Really this .” He swore and decided to just stare at the caller ID.

At the eighth ring, he decided to answer.

“You sure are persistent aren’t you?” he said coldly, and before waiting for a retort, he continued. “What do you want?”

Silence on the other side of the phone, and he frowned. What the heck? This person calls me and then keeps quiet when I pick it up and talk to him. He should be happy I spared a few seconds of my life to even answer his damn call.

“Jaejoong ah’s dead you uncaring bastard!” The caller had shrieked and Yunho couldn’t help but pull the phone away from his ears.

Wait…what?

“Excuse me?” he asked, putting the phone back against his ear, not sure if he heard it right.

The person on the other side…a girl? Swore. “I said Jaejoong ah’s dead you moron.

Yunho stared at the empty space in front of him. He may have despised the person, but he wasn’t that cold to actually wish the person dead.

However, the caller was a girl with his phone number; thus, it can’t be trusted to true. The caller should be male, not a female. “Who is this?” he asked, his voice stone cold.

He heard the woman click her tongue. “Who am I?” she asked, her voice rising once again, and Yunho had to pull the phone away a bit. “Nice to know you’ve forgotten about me, Jung Yunho ssi.

“Stop playing games.” He was getting irritated, and he heard the smirk instead of see it from the other line. “Ah, I see. Of course. You decided to forget about him, so why should you remember anything connected to him?” a short pause. “Jang Hwaeun, Kim Jaejoong ah’s best friend.

Ah…now he remembered.

Back then a few years ago, Jaejoong had brought him here and introduced him to his best friend, a feisty little lady.

“What on earth did you mean?” he then asked, not sure with what to do now?

She smirked once again, and Yunho was so sure he could hear it instead of see it. ”Do you even care?” she asked, but then before Yunho could talk, she had added “If he was in the street, would you care? If he was pushed off a building, would you care? If he drowned and got eaten by a man eating fish, let’s say a shark, would you even care? If I stabbed him to death right now, which I would never do, would you even care? If he got hit by a car, would you even ING care?

The feisty lady had emphasized the last part, and it made Yunho cringe. Hearing everything she said, would he really even care?

Of course he would. Of course. He did love him at one point…until that incident that happened one year ago.

He heard a sigh from her. “Whatever,” her voice sounded calm now. “if not for Jaejoong ah, I wouldn’t even call you. But if you have time, do come to Gongju and come to my shop. We need to talk. Face-to-face.”

Yunho frowned. “I’m in Gongju right now.”

“Is that so?” he heard her say. “Well then, who cares what time it is? Drag your from those luxurious chairs of yours and get your in my shop NOW.” And she hung up.

He put the phone down and stared at it. “Nobody commands Jung Yunho, and nobody ever hangs up on Jung Yunho.”

“You know hyung…” someone from the shadow decided to speak, and Yunho turned to his left to look at the person beside him, who was staring outside. “That’s your ego talking.”

Yunho’s eyes narrowed. “So you accept that someone just commanded, yelled, and hung up on me?” the person laughed with a shrug. “I do, truth be told.”

He didn’t just hear that. “Yah!” he scolded. “How dare you, Park Yoochun!”

“I was being honest since you asked.” The younger answered, disinterested now and closed his eyes to fall asleep.

Nowadays, Yunho felt so stressed being around his nineteen-year old cousin who was so aloof and relaxed. He wished he could become like that, but he can’t. He was the current director of Jung Enterprises, and he would become the president if his father approves of his accomplishments.

He can’t be as relaxed as the person beside him who had gone to sleep.

“Hyung,” he said to the driver. “What is it young master?”

Yunho breathed and then let the air out. “Could you turn right there?”

“Of course.” The driver replied and had gone right.

“Now stop.” Yunho still remembered where the shop was. His car had stopped directly in front of the door and he saw that it was closed. So why did she call me if it was closed? But he saw that the lights were still on. So she must want him to knock.

He turned to his cousin and shook him. “Yoochun ah.” He said, and the younger yawned, and then rubbed his eyes. “Are we at the hotel already?” he asked sleepily, and the older shook his head. “No, you idiot. Come on. You’re going with me.”

Yoochun stared blankly at the older man. “Where?”

Yunho let out a frustrated sigh and opened the door. He got out and pulled Yoochun out as well.

“Why do I have to come with you?” the younger complained. “It’s so cold out here.” He said, pulling his coat closer. “Stop complaining will you?” he said and took Yoochun by the arm and they went to stand in front of the door.

He raised a hand, then hesitated, still thinking of what will be talked about. He wanted to confirm about what Hwaeun had said, and he felt fear from behind his mind.

“Aish.” He heard Yoochun mumble, and the younger raised his hand instead and knocked. “What on earth are you doing?” Yunho shrieked at his cousin. “I told you it’s cold, and if you just stare at the door like some idiot, I’d die.”

The younger was the only person he allowed to talk to him informally, since they grew up together. He even knew about his relationship with Jaejoong before, in fact, they were pretty close.

The door had opened to reveal a petite figure, who coldly indicated them to go in. “We’re coming in.” Yoochun was taught to respect before entering someone else’s place, even if it was a shop, a restaurant, or a mall, he would usually do that, and it kind of made him weird, Yunho thought.

Hwaeun closed the door as the two men entered, and she saw Yunho’s gaze land on the youngest among them who was sitting down.

“Kim Junsu,” Hwaeun said, standing beside Yunho. “He’s Jaejoong ah’s younger brother.”

Yunho’s eyes narrowed and he looked down beside him. “He had a brother?” she nodded. “Biological?” another question, and she answered with another nod.

So that was why he was pulled in by his serene aura. It was just like his brother’s.

“I came here as soon as you dropped that bombshell.” He remembered why he was here, and it wasn’t for Jaejoong’s brother. “So, what is it about?” Yunho asked. “Is this a trap to set me back with him? If it is, you better bring that bastard out and I’ll settle it with him.”

He saw the woman glare at him. If looks could kill, he would have died then, Yunho thought, seeing as if there were fireballs that her eyes threw at him. “The only bastard around here is you, you arrogant bastard.” She said to him and pointed on his chest. “You’re just as heartless as what the newspaper says. You think I’d be stupid enough to set my best friend back with you, think again moron. Why should I? You hurt him. He came here broken, it was hard trying to fix him, but at least I’m thankful to that small but big blessing you left him.”

Yunho stared. “Blessing?”

“You will see soon enough.” She said.

But he wouldn’t get pulled in. “So how do I know anything you’ve said is real?”

Hwaeun smirked and turned to the young teenager who was seated. “Junsu ah, Jaejoong ah left something else besides the cellphone right?”

Junsu had blinked and then nodded as he tried to look up at the man who was said to be Changmin’s father. He rose on his chair and walked towards Yunho.

As the younger man walked towards him, Yunho could feel the similarity between him and his former lover.

Yunho waited until he was standing in front of him, and he happened to be only half his size. “How old are you?” Yunho couldn’t help asking when Junsu was standing in front of him. The younger man blinked. Yet another hobby that reminded him of Jaejoong. “Si…sixteen sir…” he whispered, and Yunho stared. Sixteen? He’s so young to lose Jaejoong.

What came after had him glaring for some reason.

Junsu had pulled out the necklace his brother had given to him and showed it to the older man, who was glaring at the necklace.

“Why do you have it?” he asked the younger man, who had jumped back when Yunho had grabbed his hand all of a sudden, but Hwaeun intervened and slapped his hand away then pulled Junsu to her side. “Don’t take your stupidity on a child, Jung Yunho. He didn’t do anything to deserve this.”

But he continued to glare at Junsu, who was hiding behind Hwaeun. “But why does he have that necklace?” he gritted his teeth. “When I gave that to Jaejoong ah, I told him never to let go of that.”

She eyed him as well, and their gazes finally clashed. “He never did.” She said. “So why does he have it?” he asked, pointing a finger at Junsu.

“It was what Junsu ah needed if he needed proof that he was related to Jaejoong ah!” she yelled back. “In fact, he was about to call you, but he stumbled here first.” He blinked in disbelief, and Hwaeun couldn’t help but sigh. “Go on, Junsu ah, tell your story.”

He told it.

Yunho gaped at the younger figure who still stood behind Hwaeun after telling the story.

Junsu and Hwaeun were careful not to mention Changmin yet.

He couldn’t believe that while he was enjoying his night life, Jaejoong was suffering out there, and then he frowned. Why? He thought. Why did he care?

Hwaeun tapped her shoes on the cemented floor. “There’s something else you need to know.” She said and went back up the stairs. “There’s more?” he asked, eyeing Junsu. The younger was fidgeting under his scrutiny, he said as he looked at the person who claims to be Jaejoong’s brother.

Junsu had nodded, afraid of what the man might do.

He then felt relief when he heard the footsteps that slowly came down the stairs.

Yoochun, who had stayed silent the whole time looked up with his older cousin to see the fiery woman carrying something in her arms. As Yunho looked at her with the baby, the earlier hostility in her eyes disappeared and was filled with kindness.

She soon reached the floor and came up to him. Hwaeun had looked up at him, and once again, the hate had appeared in her eyes. But he was surprised when she handed the child to him. “He, my good sir…” she paused, looking at Junsu, then at then baby, and then back up at him. “is your baby.”
