“Delicious ?”

Taeyeon nodded. His son was feeding him the hospital’s food, but he didn’t want to eat. Being a creative man, Changmin put some crumbles of crispy seaweed on the rice, and now Taeyeon was munching happily.

“How is Mom ?”

Changmin hesitated to answer, but he proceeded to let out the words. “She looked okay.”

“What did she say when she saw you ?”

“She didn’t recognize me. Am I changing too much, Dad ?” Changmin asked with a glint of sadness in his eyes.

“She’s the one that’s changed. You know, she did the same to me.”

“What ?!”

Taeyeon only nodded. “She has never recognized me, a few months after the doctor’s conclusion of her condition.”

“She’s sick ? Mom’s sick ?” Changmin put down the spoon he held all this while and trapped his father’s palm between his own.

“Alzheimer.”

Changmin’s hand tightened, he couldn’t believe what Taeyeon had said. “Alzheimer ? Isn’t it the syndrome that can’t be...”

“Yes. She can just forget me, all of us, until she die.”

Changmin looked at his father and said, “I’m sorry for leaving both of you ten years ago. But let’s believe that she’ll be back.”

Tayeon was smiling at him when suddenly someone knocked the door.

“Yeah ?”

The doctor with the team came in, a few nurses followed them closely. “Good evening, Sir.” The doctor bowed to Changmin and Taeyeon respectively.

“So...We had discussed about the result of the examination. But Sir, anything that happens to you, please stay positive. We can always cure diseases, right ?”

“What is it ?” Taeyeon’s tone was demanding.

“The result showed that there’s something wrong with your digestive system. I’ve given you a few kinds of pills that’re related to the digestive system, but it doesn’t seem to change anything. Your kidney has failed to do its tasks, Sir.”

Changmin widened his eyes at the doctor’s result of discussion. But he came up with a question quickly, all he thought was how to heal his father. “What can we do to overcome that ? You can’t possibly let my father die.”

“Do you have a family member that is older or in the same age with Mr. Kim ?”
