And here we go with another chapter! ^^

Enjoy!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Okay, how about this?” Kelly said, making an intense face as she gazed into the bathroom mirror. Sen, Riki and Els all stared unsurely at their friend, trying not to laugh. “Um… how about no” Sen giggled. “But maybe if you purse you lips a little more.”
There were only a few days left before the big event. The dance moves for the performance had all been taught and the girls had gotten them down pretty well. It was now only a matter of performing them with the right attitude. Instead of just doing the steps as they were taught, the girls now had to learn to let go of these steps in order to really ‘perform’ them. This was all extremely necessary if they wanted the entire thing to be convincing even in the slightest. Also, it was probably the most difficult part about dancing. Anyone can learn some moves but only dancers can perform them and make them look worthwhile. So, because of this, the girls were spending their free time trying to learn how to look convincing whilst dancing. More specifically, at this moment, they were practicing their ‘y face’.
“Oh that looks better!” Riki said, pointing to where Sen was now attempting to stare seductively into the mirror. Sen continued by biting her bottom lip slowly before bursting out laughing. “I can’t do this!” She yelled, flailing her arms around and giggling. “Okay, let me try!” Riki said. She flipped her long hair backwards and tried to look hot by squinting her eyes a little but ended up looking mostly drunk. Again, the four girls burst out into a fit of laughter. This would prove to be a challenge for the four childish girls.
Despite her ginormous failure at being y in the bathroom, Riki wasn’t all that worried about her performance. She knew how to perform; she’d done it countless times when she was a kid. She knew that when the time would come, she’d do it right. It was sort of weird how that worked. Honestly, Riki was one of the most clumsy and quite frankly stupid people on the planet in real life, but once on stage, she’d instantly change into whatever the performance asked of her. On stage, she somehow gained the ability to become whatever she wanted and that, she thought, was one of the best feelings in the world.
On the other hand, she thought failing at being y with her friends was a great past time and an even better distraction from the nerves that were undeniably building up and all four of the girls’ stomachs.
Kelly was just trying to transform Els’ usually adorable face into a y face when Yeon hee and Yumi burst in. “Noah’s arrived. Practice is about to start!” Yumi yelled in her high pitched voice and they all immediately followed the two trainees out of the bathroom.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As she walked into the dance studio Riki noticed that everyone else had indeed already arrived. She also immediately noticed her buddy, Chanyeol talking to Jang Mi, the vile girl that had made it a hobby to be a towards every non-Korean trainee at SM Entertainment.

Riki didn’t easily dislike people and she had a tendency to be very accepting. Therefore, she had ignored Jang Mi’s meanness at first. However, after Jang Mi harshly attacked her friend one night, Riki decided to be unforgiving. This girl was evil and when she saw her good friend Chanyeol conversing with said evil girl, she couldn’t help but feel blobs of anger well up inside her. She knew it wasn’t possible for the two of them not to communicate; they were each other’s dance partners after all but still, she felt like Chanyeol shouldn’t be this nice to her. She wanted to go up to him but Noah interrupted her plans with his shouting. “Let’s start! No time to lose! We still have a lot of work to do people!”

“Yeah, yeah” Riki muttered, grumpy now as she made her way over to Sehun.

The music played but Riki wasn’t really paying attention. She tried to keep her focus on the music and her dance partner but her thoughts were taking over. She didn’t like to admit it but she was getting really annoyed over Chanyeol’s nonchalant behavior towards Jang Mi, a girl that had seriously hurt one of her best friends. Chanyeol knew what she’d done to Els and he was still acting like this girl was a ray of ing sunshine. She just didn’t understand. She was pissed and frustrated and then became even more pissed and frustrated because all of her feelings were messing up her performance. She kept making extremely elementary mistakes and both Noah and Sehun seemed to notice.

Noah kept glaring at her like she was sewer rat or something and Sehun kept asking her whether something was wrong. Riki just shook her head at Sehun and pushed away his comforting hands. She didn’t want to worry him; she just wanted to regain her focus. She was getting mad at herself for doing this to herself. At this point, her annoyance at Chanyeol had snowballed into becoming bad at one of the only things she was good in; and that had, on its turn, snowballed into extreme frustration towards herself.

After messing up for what seemed like the thousandth time, Noah turned down the music and came over towards the grumpy girl. “What do you think you’re doing?!” He asked, managing to make even his whisper sound like he was yelling. “You’re supposed to be killing it right now!”

Riki didn’t know what to say because Noah had just said it all; and he was absolutely right. “Hey I’m talking to you!” He continued. “You better get it together because right now, my three year old kid is doing better than you!” Riki just nodded, not even daring to look at her instructor’s face. “Okay!” He gave her a painfully hard pat on the shoulder making her falter a little and walked back to the front of the room.

She noticed a lot of people in the room were staring at her now, Jang Mi included. Jang Mi was just sort of smirking at her as she stood next to Chanyeol. This Riki muttered under her breath and she promised herself to do better from now on.

The rest of the first half of practice went by slowly as she tried to regain herself. When it was over, she apologized to Sehun, reassuring him that she’d get it together and then fled to the bathrooms.

She plashed her face with some water and stared at herself in the mirror for a minute. She wasn’t like this usually. She’d always been such a positive and bubbly person; well, except in the early morning but that didn’t count. She didn’t want to be like this. “Get it together you derp!” She said as she slapped herself in the face playfully and then laughed a little at own silliness. She shook everything off and returned to the studio.

She went to sit down by herself because she didn’t feel like being asked whether she was alright another time. She picked at her nails until she noticed a shadow at her feet.

“Hey, um, can I ask you something?” DO was standing before her, looking a little unsure of himself. “Sure!” Riki said, motioning DO to come sit next to her. When he didn’t immediately say something she went on. “What’s going on?”

“Well, I was just wondering.” He began, fumbling his hands around each other, nervously. “Does, um, Kelly ever mention me?”

Riki tried to hold back the grin that wanted to take over her face at that moment. She thought for a bit. A part of her really wanted to be a tease and ask him why he’d be asking such a question but DO was looking sort of insecure and he was making himself really vulnerable by opening up to her like this, so she decided to be nice. “All the time actually” She smiled.

DO just gazed at Riki, clearly star struck by her answer. “You should hear her go on about the fact that you like her homemade bookshelves. Really, she won’t shut up about it; it’s sort of cute.” Riki went on. DO started smiling a little then and Riki couldn’t help but question. “Why are you asking?”

Again, DO didn’t really seem to know how to answer. His appearance gave everything away though. His cheeks were adorably flushed and he was at a total loss for words. After a long pause, in which Riki kept staring at the boy questioningly, DO opened his mouth.

“Um, I don’t know.” He said, still smiling to himself and playing with his hands. Oh my god, are you kidding me? Riki thought as she looked at the adorable boy before her. She took his hands and stilled them in his lap. He looked up at her and she smiled. “Listen to me; I don’t think you have anything to worry about Kyungsoo, seriously. The girl likes you.” She hadn’t meant to put it so bluntly, but the boy had looked so desperate and she couldn’t help herself.

DO’s face lit up. “You mean it?” He asked after a while. Riki didn’t know how to make it any clearer to him than she already had but tried anyways. “Let me tell you a little secret.” She started.

“Every time after we watch you guys perform, the first thing Kelly does is start rambling about how good looking you are and how your voice is the prettiest sound she’s ever heard. Trust me, she likes you.”

DO kept quiet once again. He still didn’t seem entirely convinced. Riki really wondered how someone so handsome could be so insecure. After a while, DO averted his gaze from his feet towards the other side of the room, where Kai was practicing. “Oh” Riki sighed. She grabbed his hands again and looked him in the eyes, demanding full attention from the boy.

“Okay, let me make this really clear. Kelly likes you; and just because she’s dancing with Mr. I’m-too-hot-to-wear-a-shirt-ever, doesn’t change any of that.” She let go of his hands then and saw that DO was smiling much brighter now. He laughed a little and nodded in understanding. He thanked Riki for her help and walked off.

Riki smiled to herself and wondered how long it would take for Mr. and Miss. Oblivious to get together. She felt a lot more relaxed now and realized she’d probably been overreacting before with the whole Jang Mi thing. She felt quite silly to be honest. Anyways, she felt like making a grand comeback during second half of practice and nothing was going to stop her.

She walked over to Sehun and told him she was ready to try again. “Good.” He smiled. She looked over to where Jang Mi was standing next to Chanyeol. She was smirking at Riki again but this time, Riki wasn’t going to let it get to her. She rolled her eyes at Jang Mi and waited for practice to start.

Noah turned up the music and everyone started moving at once. Riki was feeling loads better about herself and therefore, her performance was looking up as well. Whilst dancing though, Riki’s eyes couldn’t help darting across the room to Jang Mi and Chanyeol. Her eyes widened.

Jang Mi was dancing around Chanyeol like a straight up hooker, over accentuating every single move in the dance routine. I mean, it was supposed to be a y dance but this? Riki couldn’t believe her eyes. Jang Mi was grinding her hips against Chanyeol’s crotch blatantly and she caressed his face with her hands in a way that was almost ridiculous looking. Chanyeol on the other hand had a look of total shock plastered on his face and he was faltering in his steps. Jang Mi then stared at Riki again with a provoking look on her face. Riki stared right back at her.

Riki grabbed Sehun’s hips tightly and pulled him closer to her body, making Sehun look down at her in confusion. “What are you doing?” He gulped but Riki ignored Sehun and focused her gaze on Jang Mi. Jang Mi observed Riki’s counterattack and scoffed, pulling Chanyeol against herself even more. Riki wasn’t going to let this girl win from her though. She continued the dance routine just like she always did, except this time; she acted out every move, sort of as if she was about to at any moment. It was absurd but effective, as it was clearly pissing off Jang Mi.

Without really being aware of it, the two girls were getting caught up in this ridiculous little competition of theirs and both Sehun and Chanyeol seemed to be utterly perplexed at their dance partner’s sudden ‘enthousiasm’.

“Wow, would you calm down a little?” Sehun breathed as they were getting ready for another round of practice. “Huh? I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Riki answered innocently before flashing Jang Mi another challenging look and getting into position.

By the end of practice, Riki was absolutely exhausted and Sehun was panting against the wall. Noah ran up to Riki again. “Hey you!” He shouted. “That was much better than that crap you pulled before!” Riki decided to take that statement as a compliment and smiled. “Actually” Noah went on. “You might want to tone it down a little; you don’t want to go breaking your man now do you!” He said, looking over at Sehun. He clapped her hard on the back once again and strolled off.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Whilst she was packing up her things at the back of the room, she saw Jang Mi saying goodbye to Chanyeol. She decided it was time for her to tell Chanyeol about her issues.
“Hey, Chanyeol!” She yelled as she walked up to the tall boy. “Hey!” He yelled back, cheerfully, completely unaware of the war he’d indirectly caused between Riki and Jang Mi. Riki decided to be straightforward; she found that was usually the best plan when talking to boys.
“So, why are you getting all cozy with Jang Mi?” She asked plainly. Chanyeol started laughing at once. “Woah, where did that come from?”
“You know exactly what I’m talking about mister.” Riki pouted. “I just thought you’d know better than to hang out with someone like that.” Chanyeol started smirking then. “Oh, I see; jealous are we?” He said mockingly, poking her in the sides.
“Don’t flatter yourself, you idiot.” Riki said, pushing him away. “I just don’t want you hanging out with someone like that. She hurt my friend.” She continued. Chanyeol sighed, still smiling.
“Yes mom!” He sang in a childish tone as he pulled Riki into a hug.
“You stink.” Riki noted, scrunching up her nose against his sweaty chest. Chanyeol ignored Riki’s comment and went on. “Relax Riki, I’m not about to make evil babies with Jang Mi just yet.” Riki rolled her eyes and Chanyeol loosened his grip around her.
“Listen.” The boy said, getting serious then. “Jang Mi is my dance partner. I can’t just be an to her and screw up the entire performance.”
Riki felt a little bad then. Chanyeol did make a really good point. Bad communication between dance partners could mean a catastrophe on stage. Riki sighed and even though she didn’t like it, she had no choice but to mutter. “You’re right.”
Chanyeol smiled down at the girl before him and patted her head. “I know.” He said cockily.
Riki punched him in the shoulder and they walked out of the studio together.
