Of The Guardians: Inheritor [Being Made Into a Novel Series]“To die will be an awfully big adventure.”
- J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan
"How do you feel?" Kris asked as Luhan shuffled up to greet everyone. "Great! Never been better," Luhan said cheerfully, "That Lay guy is one heck of a healer!" The Musan's bright personality had truly been missed over the pass few days. Even Tao seemed less irritable around him. "I'm glad you're healed," Tao mumbled. Luhan glanced at him in disbelief before grinning. "Wow, I cannot even right now! Did the one and only Tao of the tribe of Cyreen just say he was glad I awoke?" Tao scoffed, turning aside and muttered curses under his breath. You laughed lightly and gave him a pat on the back.
"Man, you were asleep for a while," Suho said as he looked through his record books, "I think you hold the record for being unconscious the longest thus far on our journey!" "Let's hope he remains the recorder holder then." Kai said. He, Kris, and Baekhyun were packing supplies into bags as compactly as possible, most likely so Aeyow would not have to carry any extra weight when it came time to load him. "Yes, we don't need any more people loosing consciousness. We can't afford it," Kris said with a nod.
"What I can't believe is that this guy writes down everything! Like, I know it's your duty and all to record our adventure since your a Scribe, but you really need to get some other hobbies," Baekhyun said to Suho as he sealed another container of supplies. "Oh, I like doing a variety of different things! Not just writing," Suho revealed with a playful smile. He didn't know why people assumed he had a boring life. He personally thought of his life as a rather daring one.
Baekhyun raised an eyebrow, more interested in the conversation. "Really? Like what?" The scribe's eyes sparkled as he answered, "Well, I like reading the writings of the scribes who had come before me, reading our ancient histories, reading-" Baekhyun groaned, "Do you like doing anything that doesn't relate to reading or writing?" Suho blinked. "Uh, I like diving underwater and doing tricks on dragons?" Baekhyun's eyes widened. "Woah! At the same time?!" "Uh... no, separately." Suho answered. "Oh... Well that's still pretty cool!"
"Kora did you miss me?" Luhan asked, giving you a hug from behind and resting his head on your shoulder. He was being touchy as ever, and to be honest you had missed his hugs. Laughing, you turned your head a bit so you could see his face. "Yes, I missed you a lot! Especially you hugs," you sang. Luhan chuckled before leaning close to your ear and whispering, "I missed you too. But I don't think I'll be able to give you my amazing hugs as often anymore." You wondered why that would be, but before you could even voice your question, Luhan added, "There's someone here that is going to give me a really hard time if I hold you any longer. That jealous halfwit." With that he let go of your waist and turned you around so you could see the rest of the guys packing.
"What are you talking about?" You questioned, looking back at him like he was insane. He must have been. Luhan gave you an inquiring look, nudging you lightly. "Kora, can you honestly tell me that no one popped into your head when I said that?" You stood there and thought. Someone who gets jealous of Luhan hugging me? Well... I mean, Kris might- "Kora, could you help me with sealing these bags tight as I call for Aeyow?" Kris' deep voice interrupted. "Oh, yeah of course," you said, hastily running to the pile of weapons, food, clothing, and other necessities.
Luhan smirked and walked around the rest of the group to Kris. The messenger was currently making his way to an open area to call Aeyow forth. "So, when are you gonna make a move on her?" he asked with a wiggle of his eyebrows. Kris stumbled over his own feet, catching himself from falling. "W-What?" he coughed, staring at the other man with widened eyes. Luhan shoved his hands into his pockets and scoffed, "Don't play dumb here. It's a good thing Kora is innocent or else she would have picked up on your feelings already."
"I don't have feelings for Kora," Kris said with a straight face. "Pfffft, yeah right!" Luhan laughed before pulling Kris closer to him by the shoulder, "Listen my friend, that girl over there is one of a kind. And I'm not trying to get you mad or anything, but I can honestly say that there is at least two guys here that have some degree of affection for her." Kris stared at you but remained silent. "So I suggest you go for it, before someone else comes along the way and sweeps her off her feet," Luhan whispered, giving his friend a pat on the back before walking back to the others while whistling.
Kris sighed as Luhan walked away. He knew the Musan was right. From a distance he watched as you put a lid on one of the crates and did your best to tie it up with rope. You wiped your forehead to get rid of your perspiration. It was pretty hard to seal the crates, but you did it with a smile. Watching you caused his heart to flutter. He wanted that smile to be just for him, and he felt a bit guilty admitting it. "Oh Kora... the things you do to me," he said under his breath. The messenger shook his head, realizing he had gotten off track. He pulled his necklace out from under his sh
