I'm A Suju
. My head hurts like crazy. As if it’s about to explode any minute now.
I had the weirdest dream… Was it real? I have no idea…
Why can’t I open my eyes? … Oh, there it goes.
As soon as I open them, I close them again because the light is way too bright.
What happened? Where am I? What am I doing here? How long have I been here? Feels like ages…
This is ridiculous.
You know when someone wakes up in the movies, the person they love is sitting right next to them on a chair? Well, don’t get your hopes up, because stuff like that doesn’t happen in real life. So, no need to try it. The room was completely empty, except for me.
The door opens and interrupts my thoughts. A rather tall and middle-aged man in a white coat walks in.
"I see you’re back. How are you feeling, mister Lee?"
"My hear hurts like crazy." I try to say but something is not right with my voice.
"It’s normal. You haven’t been using your voice for a while so it’s normal it feels weird to start talking again. Don’t worry about it." He says with a friendly smile.
"What am I doing here, doctor?"
"You had a very hard slap."
"What happened?"
He smiles at me and gives me sign to take it easy. "One thing at a time, mister Lee. Let me first ask you a couple of question, please. Then I can answer all yours."
"Okay."
"You still remember your own name?"
"Lee Donghae." I say and think that if I wouldn’t have been able to remember it, I would have at least known that I was a 'Lee' since he just called me 'mister Lee' two times.
"Birth date?"
"October 15th."
"Perfect. Do you have any brothers or sisters?"
"A brother, Lee Dong Hwa."
"Is he younger?"
"Older. Why?"
"These are just some basic questions I need to ask you. Just to see how much you remember."
"… Right…"
"What’s your age?"
"I’m 24."
"Do you know which day today is?"
"I have absolutely no clue. How long have I been here?"
"A while. I’ll answer your questions in a second, mister Lee."
"Please call me Donghae. It feels more comfortable."
He nods with a smile. "Can you tell me which colour this is, please?" He continues as he holds up a bright red card in front of my eyes.
"Blue."
He looks at me with a stupid expression on his face and I know for sure that he’s about to ask me if I’m colour blind or something.
I save him the trouble, and start talking again.
"I’m kidding. The card is bright red. I would have completely lost my mind if I didn’t knew that was red."
He holds another card in front of me as response. Just to know for sure if I’m really not lying about the colours.
"It’s green."
"Okay. Can you count to 10, please?"
