Elly and I are coming in from a walk in the park. It's been a good day - I'm really happy to be dating Elly now. She's so much more mature than Lua. It's really nice. Not that being with Lua wasn't nice too. This is just nice in a different way. We walk into the dorm and as we're about to walk up the stairs, I see something: Suyeon and Lua are setting on the top step. Lua has her arms around Suyeon and is kissing her all over her face. "Come on," I say as I grab Elly's arm to stop her, "let's take the other stairs. "What?" Elly asks, her confusion obvious. We never take the other stairs unless we have to. They're all the way at the other end of the building, so it's a lot more walking, especially since our apartment is right at the top of these stairs. I try to drag Elly away before she can see, not wanting to give her a chance to start drama with Lua. But apparently I'm not quick enough: she tells up at them "Get a room, you two! None of us want to see that!" I have got to stop this drama before it starts. I know how Elly feels about Lua, but for the good of the band, I can't let those feelings come out. Since I'm still holding her arm, I push her up against the wall under the stairs. "What do you think you're doing?" I hiss at her, my face just inches from hers. She shrugs. "Don't you think she deserves it? This morning she was all 'Rina, take me back, I'll love you forever'-" her imitation of Lua is right on the line between accurate and insulting- "and now this afternoon she's all over Suyeon. What's her deal?" I take a moment to slow my breathing and calm myself, staring in her eyes the whole time. "Whatever her deal is, I don't want to hear you dissing her," I say. "I believed her when she said how much she loves me, and I think whatever she's feeling for Suyeon is just as real. Lua's got problems, but she's not dishonest. With her, what you see is what you get." "Yeah but-" I interrupt whatever protest Elly was going to make by putting my finger across her lips. "But nothing," I say softly. "She was my first love, and I'm always going to have a soft spot for her. But now I'm with you. And I'm with you because I like you, not because I hate her. Besides, she's one of our members. No matter what happened between her and me, we've got to be able to perform with her, to sit with her during an interview, and even to perform fanservice with her if needed." I hope this is enough to deter Elly from whatever point she things she is going to make, but apparently not: She opens , about to speak again. I press my finger more firmly on . "No," I say firmly. "Don't say anything. Whatever you're about to say, don't say it. I want to be with you, but I don't want there to be any drama because of it. Which means I need you to not start any drama. Even if - no, especially if - Lua is dating Suyeon now, I need you to not start any drama. If Lua has found someone who makes her happy, she won't start some kind of drama trying to get me to break up with you." I lean forward, move my finger out of the way, and kiss her softly. "Can you do that for me?" I ask, our faces so close together that I'm sure she can feel my breath as I talk. She takes a deep breath. I can see that she starts out wanting to argue with me, but by the end of the breath, she's changed her mind. "I can do that," she says, her voice softer than usual, "but only because you asked me to. The last few months have been so hard for me, watching you with her, seeing that she was hurting you. . ." "It wasn't all like that," I say, grabbing her hand and leading her down the corridor to the other stairs. "I was hurting her too. I don't know what the deal was - when we were good together, we were so good, bu
