Foreword

Wina strides through the front door of their office building and made a bee line to the elevators, ignoring the "Good morning, ma',m" that the receptionist sent her way.

Today was one of those very rare days where she was running late.

On a work day, she would usually be up by 6:00AM. But because she had stayed up late last night arguing with her now ex-girlfriend, she woke up later than normal at around 8:00AM.

She hurriedly took a 5 minute shower, got dressed and drove like a maniac from her condo in Apgujeong to their office located in Yeoksam.

As she parked her black 2018 Lexus ES on her designated parking spot, she checks the time, it was 8:50AM. She made it to work with 10 minutes to spare, proving that not even a break up can ruin her 7 year perfect attendance record.

Jumping out of her car with the speed of light, she sprinted to the office and here she is now, waiting in front of the elevators, impatiently.

The elevator dings just as her smartphone vibrates in her bag and she fishes it out while briskly walking towards the elevator, now being held open for her by one of their employees.

Employee: Good morning, Ms. Jung.

She smiles and nods at the greeting then went back to checking her phone.

Lee Sandeul, the personal bodyguard of the company CEO sent her a message, letting her know that the boss, was not in the mood today.

Sandeul >> Wina?

Sandeul >> We're headed to the office now.

Sandeul >> Where are you?

Just walked in. << Wina

Why? What's up? << Wina

Sandeul >> She's not in a good mood.

She's not the only one 🙄 << Wina

Why is she in a bad mood? Is it the wife? << Wina

Sandeul >> Would there be another reason?

Sandeul>> 😅

Great. Just what I need today. A pissed off CEO. << Wina

My day is getting off to a good start. << Wina

Yey! ✊🥺 << Wina

She sent the last message just as the elevator made a full stop to the top floor.

Placing her phone back in her bag, she steps out of the small space and heads over to her own office.

The sound of heels hitting the marble floor echoes as she walks and employees who pass by, greet her with a courteous bow.

Her office sits on the 24th floor of this building, where the CEO's office also resides.

There are only 3 offices on this floor. Her large office, the CEO's and their indispensable security team. But aside from office spaces, there are also 4 other smaller rooms on this floor, rooms that they mainly use for artist evaluations, so it's no surprise that a number of people are on this floor today.

This week is evaluations week for a lot of their artists and they have made it a habit to let them practice in the evaluation rooms to make it more realistic and less nerve-wrecking when the monthly assessment finally arrives.

She walks into her office and carelessly drops her bag on the chair opposite her office desk and then takes a seat.

With a lazy groan, she leans back on her chair, stretching her arms like a cat who just woke up. After a long, satisfying stretch, she snaps back up to an upright position, crossing her legs under the table and fires up her computer.

She needs to start working.

Her first task for the day is to check her emails and see if she received anything important. Next, she needs to check the CEO's schedule and make sure that all the important meetings she needs to attend to are marked on her calendar.

A few minutes into her routine, a messenger knocks on her door. It's always the same messenger who comes in to deliver certain pictures to her on the same day every month.

Originally, the pictures were for the CEO, but as the pictures kept coming, the company boss handed the task of receiving the photographs to Wina, saying she didn't want to have to deal with them every month.

She takes the large, brown envelope he hands to her and leaves without saying a word. She rips the envelope open and scans all the pictures, groaning, rolling her eyes and shaking her head with each picture she has to look at. She then walks over to the shredding machine she has by the printer and proceeds to shred each and every picture she has.

After shredding the photos, she stalks back to her desk and sits back down. She continues with her routine and once she was done, she let her eyes wander around her spacious office, looking for something to do.

Her gaze landed on the boxes of mixtapes and mail in the corner of her office and she let out an exasperated sigh as she remembers that she also needs to organize them.

Groaning, she stands up and walks over to the boxes, wondering whose bright idea it was to give her this tedious task. Setting aside her annoyance, she surveys the job at hand and and proceeds to make mental notes on what she needs to do.

Pulling up a chair, she starts organizing them, getting different boxes so that she can segregate the mixtapes based on the year they were submitted. She plans to later segregate each year by the last names of the people who submitted them and then in which format they were submitted, whether they are CDs, Tapes or Flash drives.

It sounds like a lot of work. Work she doesn't want to do right at this moment, but she'll do it anyway.

She sighs and then grab a handful of the mixtapes and starts putting them in their boxes, regretting why she didn't just take a sick day today.

Halfway through organizing the mixtapes, her work phone rang. She answers it quickly knowing that there was only one person who would call her.

Wina: Yes?

Byul: Come to my office for a minute, I need to talk to you.

Wina: Okay.

She stands up, running her palms over her crumpled skirt and then turns towards the door, leaving the mixtapes to be done later.

From the tone of the CEO's voice, she knows she's in one of her moods. The brooding, annoyed mood which usually comes after having an argument with Mrs. Moon Hyejin, the CEO's wife.

Chapter 4: This chapter, it almost feels like every other chapter but it really doesn't. Play on words and emotions... especially the last exchanges between the characters. It kinda feels almost heart-wrenching something like that... even though it's not about them but someone else...
Great chapter Author!
