“You’re being careless again – always out and not sleeping. You’re not taking care of yourself enough.”

Mina nags at Momo as they sit across each other on the booth. But Momo isn’t bothered in the slightest. It’s been months since they last saw each other and Mina is always a refreshing sight to see.

“Why do you care so much about me?”

It’s a rhetorical question and Mina just sighs. Momo grins at the sight of food being placed in front of her and forgets her own question.

Mina just can’t help but care. It’s second nature for her ever since that first day in college. They met in History class, interestingly enough. The ever shy Mina sat in front while Momo followed her and introduced herself. At first, Mina thought Momo was too loud, too energetic for her liking. But her genuine kindness and radiating energy struck her enough to keep as a friend.

Until all of a sudden, Mina saw her as something more than that.

When they’ve graduated, Momo wanted to rent a 2-bedroom apartment for the two of them. Mina had refused and gladly so. Otherwise, she would have to see Momo’s flushed cheeks and red lips when her girlfriends come over. Or witness girls Momo wouldn’t remember the name of leave on a Saturday morning after a sleepless night hearing sounds that would scar her inside out.

She stabs her waffle unconsciously. When she realizes it, she stares at Momo
