The events that happened this evening quickly subsided. The flashing lights, the humongous crowd, the performances, the tears — it drained her.

After each girl said their final goodbyes and shed a few more tears, sleep finally caught up to them.

All except one.

Her phone buzzed beside her. Seeing the picture that appeared made her heart ache so so much.

“Hey,” her voice cracked a little.

The other person on the line giggled, making Meiqi’s heart skip a beat. She missed hearing her laugh.

“Did I wake you up?”

Meiqi could hear the worry etched on the older girl’s face.

“No. I’m still awake actually,” Meiqi replied, biting the bottom of her lip trying to hold in her tears.

“I miss you, Dawon.” She said in a whisper.

“I miss you, too.”

Unknowingly, Meiqi’s tears started to escape her eyes. She tried to cover her sniffling and hiccuping so she won’t wake up the other girls and to alert her girlfriend.

“Hey, don’t cry.” Dawon said.

Dawon’s form of comfort only brought the younger girl into more tears.

How she wished she could wrap her arms around Dawon again. She misses being able to watch tv with the older girl, stay up late with her, and just be with her everyday.

“Y-you know I wear your sweater to sleep every night,” Meiqi said between hiccups, trying to change the subject.

“Eh~ really? You should’ve gotten more than one then.” Dawon replied.

“I did,” Meiqi said as she dried her tears.

“I took the grey, black, and red one.”

There was a pause on the other line. Meiqi could tell the older girl was glaring at her.

“I’ve been trying to look for those. All this time you had it!”

Meiqi smiled at Dawon’s voice.

She was wearing the grey one tonight. It smelled exactly like the perfume Dawon sprays on herself before she sleeps.

Meiqi doesn’t know how her scent stayed, but, she’s glad it did.

As their conversation continued, Meiqi’s eyes started to slowly close, her responses were late, and she was starting to mumble her words.

“You should sleep now. I know you’re tired,”  Dawon said in a serious tone.

“No… I’m not.” Meiqi said as her eyes closed.

She yawned. The grip on her phone loosened and all you could hear are her light snores.

“Sleep tight, love. I love you.”
