(Seung Hoon's POV)

This is so tiring!! Watching this play before my eyes is like watching a very slow soap opera, is so maddening!! I have to take action or they’ll be forever stuck in the same place. Why it always has to be me the only one with all the answers? Been this awesome is so exhausting.

Now, let me describe the ridiculous scene in front of me. On study subject number one, we have Song Mino, he looks just like a loyal puppy waving his tail at his master every time he is with Kim Jinwoo, his eyes dripping with love, you can almost hear him humming Britney noonim’s hit song “I’m an slaaaaave for you…” when he follows him around, is so sad and pathetic to my eyes, I’m almost feel sorry for the poor bastard.

Then, on study subject number two, we have Kim Jinwoo, it just shocks me how oblivious and unaware he can be sometimes, I just want to tell him “Oh, honey” and pat that stupid head of his. But really with that rascal you never know, he is so odd and weird sometimes that you never know what’s going on inside of his head, as far as I know he could be planning Mino’s murder or already naming their future children. So, as the second one is not so easy to read as the first one, I will need to coax Mino after all.

- Hey Mino! - I tell him throwing my pencil at him.

- Ouch!! - he said rubbing his nose. - What hyung?

- Let’s play Nintendo today at your place after practice.

(Mino’s POV)

During our lunch period we were watching the game Kyungnam High School had against Daejeon High School the day before on Jinu’s cellphone, Kyungnam won the game 6 to 0, with 3 goals shoot by Nam Taehyun, it was a massacre. Theirs was the first game played of quarters to final.

At the beginning of the tournament, we were divided in four groups. Group A, B, C and D, Kyungnam high school and us were first and second place in group A respectively, the first place of Group A had to go against the second place in Group C and the second place in group A has to go against the first place in Group C, this is typical in this kind of tournament.

Since Kyungnam High School went against the second place in group C they had it rather easy, Daejeon is a Science High School, it was kind of miracle that they classified to the tournament in the first place, let alone to quarters to final, they usually exceed in academics only.

After we finished that one we started watching the highlights of the game that allow Cheungu High School to classify to quarters to final, they will be our rivals this Sunday. It was one of the tightest game I ever seen in my life. It might be hard even for someone like me to pass through those defenders, they do have a strong defense and I could see that Jinu hyung was biting his lips nervously while watching. He has his reasons to feel uneasy about this, at this point of the tournament you don’t get a second chance, is either you win and go to the next stage or you lose and say goodbye to the championship.

We were at the field of play and I could definitely sense that Jinu hyung had a small grudge against me, and I suspect it is because I got that red card on our last game and I won’t be able to play this Sunday. He didn’t choose me as his warm up partner and he didn’t speak to me at all since we started practicing. At the end of the practice he gathered us all to say a few words.

- Okay guys, so for this Sunday’s game, let’s not stress about. Let’s just have fun, this might as well be our last game in the tournament and there will be cameras rolling so let’s try not embarrass ourselves by making a scene or something.

- We still have a pretty good chance to win hyung. - said Yoon putting his arms around him to comfort him. - Even without Mino, we’re still a strong team.

- I’m just being realistic. - he said looking at the ground. - I don’t want to get my hopes up.

- If only Mino wouldn’t have acted like the Hulk. - said Hoon with a smirk. - That green hair is really affecting you in the head.

- I was just standing up for my friend.

- You didn’t have to. - said Jinu now staring at me. - It wasn’t the right place or the right time, your actions could cost us the championship.

- He’s right, Mino. - added Hoony now putting his arm around my shoulders. - It wasn’t the right time or place, you could have beat him to a pulp after the game and outside the court.

- No one was suppose to beat no one, I don’t need anyone to defend me.

- Okay hyung, I’m sorry I made a mistake. - I told him admitting my error. - I acted without thinking, but it won’t ever happen again.

- If you ever get a second chance. - he said still a little bit upset, even though I know deep inside he still loves me, or at least I hope so.

- I’m not that focus on winning or losing. - said Hoony still with his arm around me. - I’m more concerned about deciding which fashion item I will wear to stand out to the cameras. - This hyung, he might seem shallow and random sometimes, but I know him better know, he was just trying to ease the tension between us by throwing a random joke.

- You know we will only be wearing our uniforms, right hyung? - said Yoon laughing at his idea.

- And that’s exactly the tricky part my dear grasshopper.

The sun was already setting making beautiful combinations of colors in the sky. Jinu, Hoony and me were waiting for the bus together and I just wanted to kiss Jinu’s beautiful heart shaped lips until he could stop frowning. I know I made a mistake, but he should understand I did it because of him, I couldn’t stay still just watching someone hurt him, I can’t even allow anyone else to touch him but me. What can I do for him to forgive me?

- Hyung!! - I said with my most precious aegyo putting my arm around his waist. - Mianhe, I made a mistake and I should pay for it. What do you want me to do so you can forgive me?

- Is okay, I forgive you.

- No, you’re lying. - I said while pointing at his forehead. - Look at that frown between your eyes.

- Aich~ Mino-ya. - he said grimacing at me and removing my finger from his forehead. - I tried to put it behind I swear, because you’re more important to me that winning that championship. But today as we were practicing for this week’s game I couldn’t help but getting upset about it.

- Just forgive me hyung. - I pleaded to him again pouting my lips. - You just said it, I’m more important to you than winning.

- Yes, but the look on those kids faces. - said Jinu now raising his voice at me. - They really are aiming to win that cup, they were so devoted today like on any other practice and if we lose because of the void you left, because of a stupid mistake, it’s just frustrating.

- I’m sorry hyung, I don’t know what to say. - I told him feeling ashamed. - Let me make it up to you, I’ll do anything you ask me to.

- No, just give me time. - he said while our bus came to the stop. - It will go away.

We didn’t say a word at all through the whole commute, I even forgot for a moment that Hoony was with us, then Jinu got off at his stop and quietly said goodbye to both of us, this is the first time we have a fight and I already feel like the world is ending to me.

- What was that? - asked Hoony intrigued.

- What, why?

- It kinda looked like a lover’s quarrel to me. - he said with a smirk.

- You know more than what you allow yourself to show, right hyung?. - I told him very seriously.

- It’s time to have a serious conversation my friend. - he said as we arrived to our stop.

- Don’t be so full of yourself. - I told him. - I also have many questions to ask you.

- So Q and A time it is!!

On our videogames night, we actually didn’t play a single game. After having dinner we just went to my room and sat on my bed to have the serious conversation he had suggested.

- Since I invited myself to your place, I will give you the privileged to start with the questions. I bet you’re really curious with was going on with my life right now. - he said while getting himself comfortable over my pillows.

- What’s going on hyung? - I asked him. - Why is your life so different from what I knew from you back then?

- How old we were at that time? - he started wondering. - I believe I was 13 back then, when I heard about that student change program and I just wanted to get away from home as far as I could. Our lives are very different Mino, it doesn’t matter how bad you get along with your father, you alway have had your mother, sister and now your aunt to support you, you have a loving family. On the contrary, I was always alone, I didn’t have a support system like you, I was raised by nannies and butlers, my father was always traveling, my stepmother hated my guts, and my siblings were 3 and 1 years old at that time.

- So what happened, did you ran away from home?

- Not exactly. I’m living with my mother now.

- Your mother? - I asked him perplexed. - I thought you didn’t know your mother.

- I didn’t, my father met my mother when she was very young, she was only sixteen years old back then, after she got pregnant they elope together to get married. But shortly after I was born, his family force him to divorce her and my grandmother used her power and connections so my father could get full custody of me and keep her away from us.

- So that’s why you didn’t knew her, that was cruel.

- It sound a lot like a makjang drama right? - he said again trying to lighten up mood with a random joke.

- Kind of. - I said with a chuckle. - So how did you find her?

- When I was in China I became very close with that other korean kid in our class, Jae Hyung.

- That kid with glasses, the one that used to read detective novels all the time?

- That one, we found a trail when we were back in China and that summer he came to Korea and we looked for her together until we were finally able to locate her.

- How did you manage to do that? - I asked amazed. - We were only kids back then.

- It required a lot of research and bribing.

- So what did you do when you find her?

- I didn’t know what to do at first, I was really disappointed with her because I thought she didn’t care about me. But the day I met her she show me all of the pictures she kept of me, she was always watching over me and I never noticed it, it was kind of creepy but lovely.

- What did she do when she saw you?

- She was so happy… the whole family was very happy.

- The whole family?

- My mother’s family is so different from what I had before. The household consist of my halmoni, my uncle, his wife, their two children and my mother, we have a full house but we’re all very happy.

- And your father allowed you stay with them just like that?

- No, I used to escape all the time to be with them. In the middle of the night I escaped, after class I escaped, whenever we had a field trip or outing I escaped. My father finally got tired of it, so one day he told me that I had to make a choice, either to be with him or with my mother, but if I decided to choose her, to forget about him and that he wasn’t going to give me any financial support anymore.

- And you chose her.

- Of course I chose her, I was a rebellious 15 years old boy. But I’ve never regret my decision, this is where I belong.

- And you haven’t seen your father since then?

- I haven’t, but my dad is not a bad man Mino, he just didn’t have time for me, however he’s still taking care and watching over me. This might seem surprising for you, but Lee Seung Hyun seonsaengnim is one of his men, he was his secretary, he made him our classroom teacher last year, this year and I bet you he will be next year too. And my dad is still putting money on my bank account, but I haven’t touch it since then, I want to prove him that I can make it on my own.

- The more I know you hyung, the more I think you’re a 30 year old man inside of a 17 year old body, but with the sense of humor of a 10 year old. - I said and we started laughing together.

- You wish you had my sense of humor.

- About what you said before. - I told him darkening the mood again with my tone. - Is not like that for me anymore hyung, that support system is no longer there, sometimes I feel that it has forsaken me. - and then I started telling him why I came here in the first place.

- I can’t believe your father was abusing you like that. - he told me dumbfounded. - He sure acted like a decent man.

- Yes, that’s what everybody thinks of him, but it wasn't really surprising to me, he was always verbally abusing to me, ever since I can remember. - I told him sadly. - I’m actually more hurt with my mother’s abandonment, I wasn’t expecting that from her.

- I don’t think your mother abandoned you Mino. - he said firmly. - I think she is actually protecting you.

- That’s exactly what Jinu hyung told me.

- He knows about it?

- I told him the whole thing when I stayed over at his place last week.

- Oh… I see. - he told me putting all of his attention back to me again. - Is my turn to interrogate you now Mino.

- What would you like to know? - I told him chuckling at his tone. - I bet you already had everything figured out.

- When are you planning to become official?

- What do you mean? We’re just friends. - I said to him and couldn’t help but nervously laugh at his question.

- You know what I’m trying to said pabo. - he told me with a patronizing tone. - You already are an unofficial couple, and that means that you already behave like a couple but just haven’t popped the question yet.

- It’s not like that at all, we’re just friends. - I said. - It’s true that I like him, but Jinu hyung doesn’t feel the same way about me.

- I know that rascal longer than you Mino and if I tell you that you’re already his unofficial boyfriend is because you are.

- He cares about me a lot, but he doesn’t like me that way, you remember how broken he was when Mina kissed me.

- You mean the girl who he had a crush on for 2 years and never had the courage to ask on a date until you came into the picture? - he said kind of ironically. - It kind of looked more like a desperate attempt to prove his manhood if you ask me.

- Jinu is not the type of person who would do something like that. - I told him trying to defend my Jinu hyung from his ridiculous allegations.

- He might not been doing it consciously you know, I’m very good at reading people. With him you have to understand that he is a pure soul, he is innocent and naive, so his subconscious might be making him do things he still don’t understand.

- It’s not worth it. - I told him seriously. - I can’t risk to lose what we have now, I can’t lose him and the friendship that we have, is too precious for me.

- If it’s me reading the signs, I would say you have a really good chance Mino, and if you don’t take the first step, he will never do it.

- I’m happy with what we have.

- Are you happy to be in a commitment relationship but without the perks and benefits that should come with one?

I didn’t have an answer for his last question, so I just changed the subject and we finally started talking about video games until it was time for him to go home. We had a very deep talk that night, I was finally able to understand why he is living the way he is living now. Seung Hoon hyung had a major change of life and it seems that he finally found his place in the world, am I going to be able to accomplish that?

And also, should I endanger my current relationship with Jinu and be greedy for something more that what we are now? Could he be feeling the same way about me? Or am I going to lose him forever if I choose to take the first step? I was still pondering about all of this when my phone started buzzing with a new text message from… “boyfriend”? Aich~ now I know what Hoony was doing with my phone.

I’m sorry I yelled at you. I’m not upset anymore, despite what I said before, you’re still more important than the championship and even the rest of team. Don’t cook tomorrow, I will bring lunch for both ☺

Author's Note: Okay, so we finally reached the turning point in the story, thing will move forward from now on. Hoon's POV was really short because I still want to keep some mystery in him for future revelations. See you later this week!!
