The sound of the door opening distracted Minho from his concentration on measuring the right amount of dog food he was pouring in a certain bowl. He looked up to see his hyung, his eyes also landed behind Jonghyun, looking for Onew., but instead of finding the rabbit, his eyes landed on a pair of feline ones. Behind his hyung was a guy. Even with the beanie on the guy’s head, minho could tell that the guy’s hair was jet black, the red and green highlights catching his attention

“Morning hyung” he greeted

“No” jonghyun sighed, dropping on a chair with his head hung low “this morning is nothing but bad”

“What’s wrong?” Minho asked

“Onew… he’s gone, he ran away” Jonghyun said warily without looking up.

Minho did tell him one night when he and onew had a fight misunderstanding that if something happens to Onew again, he would be very upset. Not that Jonnghyun is scared or whatever, but it was still intimidating.

“What? why? What did you do this time hyung?” Minho accused

“Me?” Jonghyun was obviously offended that Minho thought it was his fault, although he does admit he was at fault deep inside “It’s not my fault, it’s his” still, he pointed at Kibum, who was standing at the side. Minho hadn’t recognized him; he had forgotten the man was still there.

Kibum gasped, offended and Minho frowned at him, at the same time eyeing him from head to toe. Who is this guy? He thought.

“Once again, I am not at fault here” Kibum defended.

Jonghyun groaned, slumping further into the chair, ignoring kibum. He didn’t feel the need to argue with the bastard again. “I don’t know what to do. I don’t know where to start searching” he said, slumping forward even more and burying his face in his hands.

Minho doesn’t know if he should get angry for what have happened or feel sorry for his hyung

“Tell me what happened hyung”

“I’ll help you look for him hyung” the younger offered after Jonghyun had told him what had happened.

“No,” Jonghyun said “I want you to watch the cat for me” he stood up and was making his way to the exit.

“What?”

“If you want to help, watch the cat while I search for Onew”

“But why?” Minho questioned

“Because I need him to be here when I get back” He glared at kibum, “because when I come back, with or without Onew, I’m going to kill you” Kibum gulped at the seriousness of his voice

“He’s not serious right?” Kibum asked Minho when they were alone.

Minho felt awkward being in the same room as kibum. This guy had destroyed his hyung and Onew’s relationship. However he couldn’t help but wonder how he did it in such a short period of time.

“I can feel your death glare on my back you know?” Kibum was by the mouse cages, watching the small little cuties. For a second Minho thought he was going to grab one and eat it, but Kibum turned around. Minho’s eyes meeting the lazy feline ones, he couldn’t help but sigh, relieved that he’s not going to have to go through the hassle of being short on mice “I know what you’re thinking you know?” Kibum said as he walked slowly to where minho is “that this is all my fault, and that I’m the bad guy…” kibum said, his hands waving dramatically as he spoke.

“how did you do it?” minho interrupted.

Kibum stopped, “what?” he asked, taken aback.

“Onew ran away, in just one night, you made him run away. How did you do it?” Minho pressed.

Kibum gaped at the man, “okay,” he huffed “I don’t think you’re listening, but I Just told you… was trying to tell you, that this is not my fault” but minho isn’t buying it, he stayed silent and it irked Kibum a lot when he’s not being taken seriously.

“Hey! I am trying to explain my side here!” Kibum squawked “can’t you just…”

“I wonder how hyung is doing” Minho muttered, then he turned away, not really interested in Kibum’s explanations.

Kibum scoffed, irritated, “You’re really ignoring me?” it irked him how the other is not listening to him “okay” he sighed, giving up “what is it gonna take for you to stop ignoring me?” he wailed

Minho eyed him lazily as if trying to think if he should tell him “Bring Onew-ssi back here and maybe I’ll listen to you” he told him anyway.

Kibum glared at him, “fine!” he said

“Seriously?” Minho had not expected him to agree, however he thought it was impossible for kibum to do as he asked so he decided to play along “You’re really going to bring Onew-ssi here?”

“Yes” the other answered smugly

“Okay” minho said, deciding to take the cat’s challenging tone “bring onew ssi back and I’ll never ignore you again”

“No”

“Excuse me?”

“If I bring the rabbit back, you won’t just stop ignoring me, but you’re going to keep me as your pet” said Kibum.

Minho thought for a while before saying “deal” thinking that it was impossible for Kibum to find Onew, so he agreed.

Kibum smirked at him for falling right into his trap.

Kibum found Onew at the park near Jonghyun’s apartment. He smirked smugly to himself when he saw that Jonghyun wasn’t there. He assumed he is the only one who thought of searching the place. He had guessed that the rabbit would be here. The man was crying, he knew, he saw, and one does not take a long of a run until he starts to break down into a sobbing, weeping mess. Espescially Onew, which is why he figured the nearest park, is the place Onew could have gone to.

He found the rabbit hidden behind the bushes. Luckily, no one saw Onew. There were only a few people in the park.

Kibum pressed his paw into the rabbit’s furry back. Letting the other know that he was present. Onew turned to look at Kibum, and then covered both his eyes with his pads. Kibum thought it was cutest thing ever, as if Onew was acting shy. However, he knew better. (Why was he only seeing this now?) Onew didn’t want to see him right now. Kibum’s eyes widened in repentance. Seeing Onew act like this, it softened him. Kibum didn’t feel like he needed to act like he isn’t at fault anymore or that he does not care. Seeing the rabbit act like this, kibum suddenly felt the need to protect Onew, to pamper and baby the adorable bunny.

It was like they didn’t need to transform into their human form to talk because somehow, because seconds after his cute act (according to Kibum) the cat pounced at the bunny, nuzzling his kitty face into the soft fur of the rabbit, all the while purring his apologies.

They came back to Minhos’ shop a little while later. Yes THEY as Onew was dragged, no, forced by Kibum’s actions to go back to minho’s shop. The cat started clinging onto him all the while telling him things like ‘don’t cry now’ ‘I’m right here’ ‘let’s go see your owner’ and even ‘Mommy’s sorry’.

Jonghyun jumped from his seat when he saw Onew following behind kibum when they entered. He had given up his searched and went back to the shop. When he found out that minho had let the cat get away, he couldn’t even get angry, his brain only focused on onew. However he didn’t expect to see the cat return to the shop with his Onew. Minho on the other hand gulped nervously when Kibum sent him a satisfied smirk.

“Onew” Jonghyun said nervously as he shuffled to where onew was

Onew didn’t answer, he was busy boring holes into the floor, trying his best to ignore Jonghyun, to not look him in the eyes and to not hug him and tell him he missed him.

However, Jonghyun was having none of that. He pulled onew into a tight hug and whispered his apologies.

“I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry”

He repeated his apologies like a mantra. Stopping only until he heard a soft sob coming from Onew. He pulled away to look at the other and what he saw broke his heart. Tears were streaming down Onew’s face, not able to contain it anymore, and Jonghyun wanted to punch himself in the face for making Onew cry. He was going to let go of the Onew to wipe away his tears when he realized the bunny’s tight grip on his sides wouldn’t let him. What he heard from Onew next shocked him.

“Jongyunnie, why don't you want me anymore?" Onew sobbed

All this time Jonghyun had been worried that his bunny hated him to the core for the rude things he said, but it was Onew who have been scared that Jonghyun doesn’t want him anymore. How could he make his bunny cry? Let alone make him feel abandoned and unwanted?

He again pulled onew into a tight embrace “Oh onew… I’m so sorry, Jonghyunnie’s so sorry” he said before pulling away a little to look at onew in the eyes, seeing himself in the wetness of it “I’m sorry I didn’t listen to you. Jonghyunnie’s so stupid isn’t he?” he said as he wiped away onew's tears.

Onew’s eyes widened at what Jonghyun said. He buried his face into his owner chest again, hugging him tight as he shook his head “No…” he muttered into Jonghyun’s shirt causing the other to chuckle

“I’m sorry for hurting you. I’m such a jerk” he heard Onew whimper a quiet ‘no’ into his shirt once more and he knew he was forgiven. He hugged his bunny back tightly and stayed like that until the both of the calmed down

Jonghyun and Onew went home in a hurry after making up, not wanting to spare a look at kibum. Jonghyun thought he would deal with him later.

“Ouch” Kibum said after the two had left, offended that the dino, as he’d like to call him, did not even say thank you to him for finding Onew “Does that mean he’s not going to kill me anymore?” he asked to particularly no one

“He probably won’t” Minho butted in, startling Kibum. He almost forgot about the shop owner “but he might still hurt you. Bad, that’s for sure.

However, despite the threat, Kibum sent him an evil like snicker to which Minho pretended to ignore “Yeah, well, you’re going to protect me right?”

“W-what? Why the hell would I?” he asked, the nervousness in his voice obvious. Minho clearly knew he lost the bet, but he pretended not to remember, wishing Kibum had already forgotten about it.

But it is still fresh in Kibum’s head “You’re my owner now. So it’s your job to protect me” the smirk on his face was big and smug and Minho could only sigh agonizingly. What has he gotten himself into?

Onew lies in Jonghyun’s bed later that night. He was waiting for his owner to finish whatever it is he is doing in the bathroom. He was thinking about what could have happened kibum hadn’t found him, if Jonghyun really didn’t want him anymore. The thought made him frown, almost sending him into tears but then he remembered what happened back at Minho’s shop, how his Jonghyunnie hugged him like he didn’t want Onew anywhere but in his embrace, and how Jonghyun cried out his apologies to Onew. Onew felt like he shouldn’t be happy that his Jonghyunnie had cried, but he can’t help but feel happy, he felt special, loved, that Jonghyun would cry over him.

Once out of the bathroom, Jonghyun found Onew in a trance, staring intently at the ceiling. He knew the bunny was tired; running away from the owner the entire day was indeed tiring. He knew that Onew wouldn’t have gone through so much that day if it wasn’t for his dimwitted small brain. So, feeling entirely guilty, he sighed before shuffling his way to the bed.

It was when he felt the dipping of the bed that he noticed the presence of the other. Onew turned to his owner, a smile automatically forming on his face only to falter as quickly when he noticed his owner’s frowning face “what’s wrong Jonghyunnie?” he asked.

The owner didn’t answer; instead he buried his face in his bunny’s neck. The other, who was about to sit up, relaxed, his hand circling around his owner’s frame, letting him into his embrace.

“You must be tired” Jonghyun whispered in the Onew’s neck, humming in contentment as warm hands rubbed his back lovingly.

“hmmm-mmn” Onew hummed, shaking his head.

“I’m sorry” the other, taking Onew’s response as a ‘no’, apologized anyway.

“I already forgave you Jonghyunnie” Onew felt sorry for his owner too, for putting him in that state, however he couldn’t help but feel really happy about the attention he's receiving. So he grabbed the opportunity and tightened his embrace, his face nuzzling into his owner’s hair.

Jonghyun nuzzled his face in his neck even more and mumbled his apology yet again, and Onew just chuckled.

“I still feel sorry Onew” he raised his head, pouting at his pet.

“There must be something I can do to make it up to you?”

Onew chuckled, finding his owners actions really cute. He puckered his lips and Jonghyun knew what he needed to do. And just like that he knew he was forgiven for real.
