it has been literal yEARS since i finished this fanfic and holy shiet a lot has changed. i'm 500% sure p much all my old and super loyal readers have left but i felt like i owed you guys this in case you're still around :)

quick life update:

1. i kinda stopped keeping up with bts just cos school is v time consuming and idk if it's just me but bts seemed to be updating armys wayyyy more often¿? and those two did not,, mix,, also as my interests started changing i became less interested i guess whoops

2. i lost hella brain cells and stopped reading anything that's more than a tweet's worth of words and as a result stopped reading fanfic lol. also ties with how my interests changed

3. i got a boyfriend !! this isn't new (for me) and we've been together for a long time now haha so now i kinda know how an actual relationship is supposed to work and my perspective on fluffy fanfic romance has changed and i realize how unrealistic this fanfic would be (tbh we been knew but whatever)

i'm on my summer break and i kinda relapsed into my middle school (kinda koreaboo whoops) phase. i saw a bunch of bts world memes and i wanted to try it out thinking it was gonna be easy and stupid but i was #wrong and now i'm stuck on chapter 2 rip. but it made me think back to when i hardcore stanned bts and i wanted to revisit this fanfic just for the nostalgia

i forgot a lOt ab the plot of the fanfic and all the mistakes i made, so i was reading with a totally new mindset and perspective. the reason i stopped updating so frequently and why i cancelled the bonus chapter was honestly bc i was so embarrassed at how "bad" the fanfic was and i couldn't bring myself to write this chapter bc it would have just been me talking ab everything i did wrong. i reread (most of) the fanfic and you guys can totally disagree but,, for me being 13 at the time and this being my first story i had ever written...

i was really impressed with myself. from my memory, this fanfic was absolute trash, but when i reread it i just fell in love with it again. i was reminded of my raw passion i had for writing and ngl i'm impressed with the fact that i was able to commit on a project for so long and actually finish it. sure it's cheesy and unrealistic af but imo that just makes it so much more real and genuine. it's amazing how much i had changed as a person w/i 2 years.

so to everyone that was looking forward to this chapter, i'm truly sorry for making you wait.

most of these are just fun facts ab the fanfic (why i wrote things a certain way, trivia ab some of the wording, hidden intentions, etc.). there will be a few things i wish i did differently but i'll try not to talk too much ab it to avoid being negative. a lot of details might be lost bc i don't remember every little detail and thought i had while writing. lo siento.

General

• idk if i said this earlier but just in case i didn't, the original basis of this au wasn't my idea. i saw it from somewhere and i thought it was really cool. i had been stanning bts for only a couple months and i had just started reading fanfic, so i was feeling sUper inspired and, with a leap of faith, i started this fanfic
• the title, "You Make My Life Colorful," is actually not from bts at all which is super ironic lmao it's from SHINee's song that is also called, the title, "You Make My Life Colorful." it's a great song and i 10/10 would recommend
• the realer reason i started this fanfic was bc me and a close friend were in a shipwar and always clashed ab whether vhope or vkook was better. she thought vhope was and she was obviously wrong and i'm petty af so boom, fanfic where vhope breaks up and vkook prevails
• there have been so many times that i wanted to rewrite this whole fanfic and change certain/majority of parts of the story but i won't bc this is my work and i should be pROUD of it
• majority of the chapters were written reallly late at night (12am - 3am) including this bonus chapter bc i feel that i produce the best work during that time and bc i don't wanna write fanfic in front of my parents during the day ;)

Chapter 2: By the Way, I'm Kim Namjoon

• i can't quite remember correctly, but rap monster (i still call him rap monster bc i was already phasing out of the fandom when he changed his name so it's out of habit) was supposed to look the way he did from the boy in luv/danger era
• the music class is supposed to be an elective class, which is why it's mixed grades (all highschool students can take it regardless of what year they're in)
• MR. KWON IS GDRAGON LMAOOOO idk why but this fact makes me so happy i love it. big bang was my first kpop group and ik they're a mess rn but i still love them a lot (except for seungri ew). edit: nvm i already said this in the author's note and now i'm disappointed bc it's not a huge reveal :(
• mr. kwon said he doesn't offer extra cred that much but he literally does it 2/3 times he's present in the fic. i should change it but it's funny to me so i won't hah
• if you don't remember, one of the options for the music assignment was to, "make a cover of a duet song of your choice." this was bc summer 2016 my dad wanted me to make song covers bc he really likes music and wanted me to learn to create music too. guess what i never did it lol (the more i think ab it the more i realize the whole music assignment was inspired by this but i wanted to change it up a bit)
• namjoon was just thrown in the story and i wish i built on his character more oops
• i reallllly built on the tropes of bts in this fic and this is where is kinda starts. idek if these tropes are still a thing but i really hope they are lol
  • jin is the oldest and expects respect bc of it (i'm the oldest of 3 and i find i do this a lot too hahaha), he is the "umma" of the group, he likes food a LOT
  • jhope and v are super energetic
  • jimin is super fluffy and cute/innocent
  • nj is super smart
  • suga is super tired
• when jin is struggling to describe color to namjoon, it's literally me expressing how hard it is to write w/o describing with color and how difficult it is to describe color. i still don't know how i was able to do it lmao

Chapter 3: A Night in the City

• i wanted to make the scenery a city bc i always thought cities are super romantic (even tho they're lowkey disgusting). this is partially bc i have a love for new york; i was born there and visit annually bc my grandparents and aunt live there :)
• jimin says, "Are you lowkey asking me out on a date?" i realize that that is not how you use lowkey but i thought that it was such a cool word i just wanted to use it :( (kilotons trying to be cool)
• jimin brings his camera to the city. i really really wanted to incorporate that but sadly i do not remember why
• when suga is talking ab his dreams for the future, he says, "All I know is that one day, I'm getting out of this place." that was angsty middle school me wanting to leave america bc i was still angry ab trump becoming president and it sounds stupid but it is true
• they go to a cafe bc i think cafes are super cute and romantic
• the drinks they order are representative of them (jimin orders warm honey lemon tea and suga orders black coffee) you might be like, "author isn't lemon sour why would jimin be sour." i intended for him to be super sweet bc i thought honey lemon tea is super sweet. i now know it is not.
• another trope comes up: yoongi is a grandpa
• jimin taking photos is supposed to represent something !! i !! really !! can't remember what !! sorry :(((
• jimin likes window shopping bc he's broke. fat mood
• the outfit that jimin tries on and suga really likes (striped tshirt and dark jeans) is inspired by one of the bts eras (or outfits in general). i cannot remember which :( it is mostly bc the outfit is not described in fCKING COLOR so i can't remember what it's actually supposed to look like :(
• jimin's tumblr blog is also inspired by something
• me forgetting half of the details = bruh moment

Chapter 4: Sunsets and Ice Cream

• i HATED this chapter. i was still bitter bc i had to write vhope at all and i dreaded writing it. it is my least favorite chapter. rip vhope
• they choose to cover Sunset Glow by Big Bang bc of that one Bangtan Bomb of them dancing to Sunset Glow lmaooo
• baekhyun is tae's older brother bc ppl say they look similar. idk if this is a big joke in the fandom anymore but it was at the time :)
• i shipped chanbaek lol that's why baek likes chanyeol
• every once in a while the members mention boba. this is bc i love boba and have had it once a week almost continuously since approx 4 years ago (from when i wrote this) not healthy but 10/10 recommend
• trope: tae's boxy smile. idk if army still talks ab it but i still love it to this day :)
• jhope calls tae a toddler bc he likes strawberry. i always thought strawberry was a baby flavor. coincidentally, it's one of my boyfriend's favorite flavors and i also call him a baby when he orders it :)
• this chapter had way more facts than i thought woah

Chapter 5: The New Student

• trope: shy jungkook. idk if this is relevant in the fandom anymore either :(
• jungkook joins v and jhope's group. instant love triangle. ugh my genius mind
• jimin talking ab math class was to slightly establish the boys' school schedules. this would help with the group dynamic and the boys' bonds with each other later on (at least that was the intention)
• jimin says that Ms. Kim doesn't choose namjoon to answer questions in class bc she knows he'll get it right no matter what. this was inspired by a real event when a substitute teacher wouldn't pick me bc i knew the answer and literally no one else got it right. she ignored me and told the answer to everyone
• jungkook likes gdragon even tho that's his literal teacher. bruh
• jin and namjoon used to hang out at the park after school. at the time, i lived in a house that was super close to a park and i would go there for fun which is what inspired them going there :)
• when tae and jhope are bombarding jungkook with questions as an effort to get to know him, part of the questions/answers are from bts trivia pages lmaooo
• tae and jhope are *supposed* to be known for being super disgustingly cheesy. this was not made clear bc everyone else slowly became cheesy :(
• jin clinging to nj out of habit is supposed to show how they don't like each other yet bc despite constantly touching each other they can't see color (Chapter 23 Han River that changes)

Chapter 6: After School

• farmer's market !! the park by my old house had one every thursday
• trope: jin likes super mario a lot. once again, idk if ppl still talk ab this but i always found it cute
• the link to the pic of the throw pilow doesn't work anymore. don't click it. (learned the hard way)
• jackson from got7 is namjoon's ex bc they are friends irl :)
• jimin and suga watch The Sixth Sense bc for some reason, at the time i was writing i really wanted to watch it. i still have not watched it to this day
• jhope being a jealous binch is supposed to foreshadow their breakup
• i used to say XD unironically...ew

Chapter 7: Sleepovers

• jimin describes suga's jawline first bc at the time i was super obsessed with jawlines lmaooo
• throughout the fic, i tried to give everyone a unique texting style. reading back it's not obvious rip. also, the characters' contact name change depending on who's texting and how their relationship changes over time
• tae can tell jungkook's awake without even looking at him. this was inspired by my mom, who can always tell when i'm awake even if she's not looking at me and i'm facing the wall lol

Chapter 8

• every time something pivotal and probably sad happens, the chapter doesn't have a name
• tae and baek's parents being gone for their anniversary is just to explain their absence from the fanfic cos i didn't wanna write them in lol
• the segment where namjin and yoonmin are accusing each other of dating was there to lighten the mood. reading back i wish i didn't put that in bc it ruined the "seriousness" of the chapter (it's my favorite part of the chapter tho which is ironic)
• taehyung's "style" of ranting is how i rant irl and it is an art form

Chapter 9: Black and White

• this chapter is one of my favorites not cos it's the slow downfall of vhope but bc i really like the way i ended it :))))
• "unleashed his depressed emotions" is a hyperbole that 13 year old me thought was poetic but in reality...it does not make sense (:
• "I miss him missing me" was a fat mood for 13 year old me
• "But instead, all he saw was the same, monotone, black and white" ugh my MIND. iconic. one of my favorite lines of the fanfic

Chapter 10: Just Another Saturday

• the bandana "kidnapping" scene to get tae to the park was inspired by American Hustle Life
• when tae is making the excuse to avoid hanging out with the group, he talks a bit louder than usual. i have the same habit of speaking a bit too loud when i'm lying/panicking for an excuse which is what inspired this
• jungkook sits in the trunk of jin's car when the group (minus tae) hang out. whenever a situation like this happens irl, i'm always the one that sits in the trunk. i exaggerated his fear of the car motion, but it's actually not that scary just v v uncomfortable
• jin says "But if we get pulled over, you better not make any noise" this also happened to me irl :')))
• jungkook asks "Hyung! Why is your car trunk so hard?" and jin says "Because usually people don't sit back there!" actual dialogue between me and my dad first time i sat in the trunk
• trope: jimin is short and jungkook makes fun of him for it
• jin and jimin buying almost nothing from the mall despite spending forever there is inspired by me when i shop bc my mall kinda
• jungkook says "Ye- I mean no" when he talks to jin ab what happened in the mall btwn him, namjoon, and yoongi. this was inspired by my brother who always lets the truth slip when he's lying

Chapter 11: Farmer's Market II

• the whole group has social studies class together too apparently
• the part where they talk ab the classes they ditched jungkook in are to establish their school schedules and who has classes with who (same reason as in chapter 5)
• tae says that jungkook likes to eat "cake, bread, anything with flour." this was also taken from a bts trivia site hahaha
• i wrote that jin's mom gives namjoon 23,500 won which is really specific. this is bc 23,500 won is roughly 20USD
• producer suga hugging jimin when he gives him praise for his music is supposed to underline the fact that suga's parents don't approve of him being a rapper and therefore don't compliment his music
• i notice that i just "contorting his face" a lot which sounds really unappealing. it's supposed to mean "scrunching up his face"
• suga doesn't want jimin to listen to an instrumental of a song and takes the phone from him. the instrumental was supposed to be a specific song but i don't remember what it was supposed to be :(
• namjoon and jin look at a snack stand which has a lot of korean snacks. i did extra research to find the names of these breads so pls appreciate :'))
• jin buying 2 of each and saving some for namjoon but not yoonmin to supposed to be romantic gesture. since jin likes food a lot, he only shares with people he really really cares ab
• when jimin asks suga if he thinks namjin like each other and suga wonders why he asks, jimin replies "just wondering." i'm pretty sure there's a hidden meaning as to why he wants to know but i don't remember what it is
• there was something that inspired jimin liking meat a lot, but i don't remember what it was
• 5,400 won (price for the beef) is another specific price that i thinkkkk equals about 5USD
• yoongi and jimin watch The Little Prince during their sleepover. this was around the time the movie adaptation for The Little Prince was released on netflix and it was one of my favorite movies at the time. it's really cute, symbolic, and meaningful and i highly recommend it !! the book is also really good too :)

Chapter 12: Feelings

• when jhope and tae come late to the group after a makeout sesh (gross don't make out at school), jungkook's left eye twitches in annoyance. this is inspired by my mom who is kinda superstitious (littlestitious amirite lmao) who is completely convinced that the left eye twitching is a bad omen and is a warning that the person will get in a fight/argument with a loved one
• jungkook asking jin to tell him that everything will be ok is inspired by my dad telling me that everything will be ok whenever i'm sad (wow this got a bit emotional :')))
• tae talks with one of his classmates in the bathroom. i alllmost made this classmate a girl (bc of the lack of girls in the fic) until i realized that they're in a bathroom and that wouldn't make sense lololol
• taehyung listing the situation out in his head is how i used to resolve emotional issues and make sense of situations
• "Although, he honestly didn't want to get ice cream with him...at all." fat mood.
• y'all have no idea how excited i was to use color in descriptions when jungkook and tae hugged. it felt like a huge sigh of relief
• i read that chapter and i was like, "that wasn't the best" and then i saw in the author's note i said, "I am not proud of that chapter" and woah. me and 13 year old me are on the same page damn
• it was at this chapter someone asked if they could translate the fic and i was super happy but they never finished and now i'm sad :(

Chapter 13: tw: slight mention of ual assault

• i was (notice it is past tense) suppppper proud of this chapter and i felt so relieved when i wrote it. up to this point, i was building on hotaekook's issues so much, it felt inappropriate to talk ab namjin and yoonmin. but i also missed writing ab them a lot and felt like the readers missed them too. so my solution was to build up hotaekook's issues so much to the point where all 3 of them wouldn't be talking for a while, therefore giving me leeway to write ab namjin and yoonmin without any turbulence. i was so proud of this that this whole plan was the reason i wanted to write a bonus chapter just so i could tell you guys hahaha (still proud of this method/technique tho :))
• jin shooting eye lasers at namjoon and suga is inspired by key from SHINee shooting eye lasers at jonghyun during the hello baby show when they were shovelling snow :))))
• with a new perspective from 2019, i wish i approached this differently. tae forcing a kiss on jungkook is a form of ual assault (which is why i don't really like this chapter that much anymore) and i don't advocate it. i feel the need to say that i didn't mean to romanticize ual assault and i'm sorry if anyone felt uncomfortable during this scene and i didn't mean for it to come off this way.
• similar point: when jungkook tells jin ab the incident, jin shouts, :Why did you let him do that?" again, with a new perspective, i now know that that is not how you should approach a situation like this. if one of your friends tells you ab an incident of ual assault, PLEASE do not react like this. it doesn't help the situation and doesn't make the situation better. again, i'm sorry for being insensitive to these issues.
• in the author's note i'm like, "subscribe bc my friend said he's gonna make a fanfic and beat me !!" he never ended up doing it and i don't remember what his idea was but i remember it being dumb as

Chapter 14: KakaoTalk and Super Mario

• trope: namjoon loves ryan from kakaotalk (<- do people still talk ab that?)
• i remember writing the end of the chapter where namjoon answers his phone and he's like, "Wait, slow down. Wait...WHAT?!" and thinking damn that's a lil intense...but leaving it in there anyway lmaooo
• there isn't much ab this chapter bc it's super short :(

Chapter 15: Vocals

• the part where jimin doubts himself when singing their song for the music project, but suga encourages him in inspired by suga saying that jimin's voice is his favorite in bts (i think that's what he said i can't remember exactly)
• jimin singing better when he's by himself is inspired by me bc i do literally everything better when i'm by myself
• suga calling movie tickets expensive is inspired by my parents never taking me/letting me go with friends to the movies bc they always say the tickets are expensive for what they're worth :'( to this day i still don't know how much they cost
• i wrote that suga and jimin go to the theater to see The Notebook which coincidentally turned out to be jimin's favorite movie irl. you guys have no idea how proud of myself i was for guessing correctly :))))
• now when i read the scene of suga freaking out over jimin pecking his cheek and suga calling namjoon saying it was a kiss, it only reminds me of that one time bts was like, "what's the difference between a peck and a kiss" and reenacted that scene from that one movie lmaooo

Chapter 16: Tease

• tease jimin was my favorite jimin to write ab
• oblivious suga is a mood
• namjoon suggests that suga confesses to jimin by showing him a rainbow. my friend suggested the rainbow idea (the same friend that i wrote the fanfic in spite of). she thought it was the most genius thing in the world and she's lowkey right oop
• i remember it being like 3am or something and i was researching rainbows for this fanfic instead of sleeping and questioning my choices lololol
• confident but insecure jimin is a fat mood
• omg it's raining there's gonna be a rainbow and suga can confess
• lmao sike it started raining again
• there's one line that says, "When Jimin woke up, he nearly jumped up in shock when he saw Suga next to him staring through bloodshot eyes with bags that almost matched the size of his actual eyes." when my friend (same friend) read that she was like, "what's up with his eye bags. those eye bags wouldn't be that big" and her sister was like, "if they match his eyes that's pretty big" and she just said, "but his eyes are small" lmaoooo (btw she was totally joking don't take it seriously)
• i know it's super unrealistic that anyone would stay up all night to watch a mildly sick person, but suga staying up was written to contrast the trope that he's always sleepy. him staying up for jimin was to show that he really really cared for him
• suga takes a 9 hour long nap and wakes up at 7pm. this was inspired by an actual time i claimed i wasn't tired after pulling an all nighter then sleeping for 7 hours and waking up at 9 lmaooo
• for some reason i was so obsessed with the idea of a relationship that's unofficial vs. an official relationship and i used it for yoonmin's relationship, then got super excited ab it again and reused it for vkook later on. bruh moment
• jimin says, "hyung, you're really handsome, you know that?" i just realized but i say the same thing to my boyfriend all the time (without the hyung part obviously lol) and it makes me feel really fluffy :')))
• in the author's note i literally say that i imagined new couples to be overly cheesy with each other...i now know that that is not accurate haha
• i also say that my friend and i were wondering how old you guys thought i was after my birthday. my friend said that if she didn't know me and she read my writing, she would think i'm 14 or 15 which is what some of you guys guessed too haha

Chapter 17: Forgiveness

• bro i wrote that jungkook called tae "v" for variable bc he couldn't stand to say his real name...13 year old me was a ing genius how did i even come up with that i am actually impressed
• i- i wrote that taehyung has math with only jungkook and no one else in the group... but earlier i wrote jungkook has math with jimin and namjoon...bruh
• jungkook yelling at tae bc of the hickey is honestly,, iconic and we stan
• on the contrary we do not stan tae for defending himself (in the fic only we stan tf outta him irl)
• I WROTE THAT KRYSTAL WAS KAI'S GIRLFRIEND BC AT THE TIME THEY WERE TOGETHER HOLY- has it really been that long? i feel so old now it felt like that was only yesterday... bonus comedy points bc he was with jennie from blackpink not too long ago lmaooo
• chanyeol saying, "you keep your key under the third bush to the left" was inspired by another piece (i think it was a movie or show or something) but i don't remember what it was
• baekhyun slapping and scolding tae is also iconic and we also stan
  • additional note: everyone ditching tae after baek said he cheated on jhope is also iconic
• i named jhope's sister, "Dawon," bc i think i read somewhere that that was her name. it is apparently not her name is Jiwo lmao
• "Dawon" being angry for Jhope is something i really enjoyed writing bc i am the oldest sibling and i thought to myself how i would feel in that situation
• for some reason i was super obsessed with knowing how much time had passed in the fanfic and spent actual time calculating it lmaooo

Chapter 18: Tell Me More About Color

• the line, "J-Hope, Jimin, and Jungkook's face lit up like Christmas trees" is inspired by that part in The Fault in Our Stars when the guy (forgot his name) says he lit up like a xmas tree and is going to die oop
• when jin talks with nj ab how he lost his color vision, he says, "the color was pretty much beaten out of my eyes." this is also one of my favorite lines for some reason :)))
• i wrote that jin had his old ice cream flip phone :((( i miss it :(((
• i wrote that yoonmin was like romeo and juliet before i even read/understood that story...bruh moment

Chapter 19

• reading back: this chapter isn't named which means something happens and woah that is so ominous esp bc i don't remember what happens here
• tae being gone from highschool for 3 days straight is unrealistic now that i'm in highschool...praying for tae that he is able to make up all the work he missed :(
• "Love and hesitant hate? They balanced out" lmao i am, to this day, the master of pemdas
• my grammar is horendous throughout the fic i am so sorry ew
• dawon pulled through we stan
• i wish this chapter was more in depth, but it's ok heh

Chapter 20: Camping

• the only real thing i remember ab this chapter (before rereading) is that i was really excited to write it
• they don't go real camping and jimin says, "We're not actually camping. You guys know that I can't survive in the woods." my family and i have never been "real" camping bc none of us like the outdoors that much
• jimin has 4 tents, two ppl in each tent except for the last tent which will only have 1 person...he is one of those ppl from math problems
• everyone says they're going to "tent" with which lowkey sounds ual but i promise i didn't mean that
• oblivious jimin cracks me up every time
• jin's dad reminds me of my mom bc she would never let me sleep over at my friends' houses :( jin's dad also asks, "How old are they? How are their grades? Who are their parents? Can I have their parents' numbers?" there was an actual time that my mom made me give her my friends' phone numbers while we were hanging out :( feelsbad
• suga describes jimin saying, "he's made of sunshine and rainbows. his laughs are probably made of sugar and clouds as well" around this time, i was reading a lot of other fanfics and i thought that their writing was way better (spoiler alert it was lmao) and i wanted to incorporate more figurative language/literary devices so this was my attempt at it lol
• jimin "brings extra blankets just in case (because according to him, no one can ever have enough blankets)" at night i sleep with as many blankets as i can before it gets too heavy which it usually 3-5 year round bc i love blankets :)))
• i was trying to write how to make a s'more but i couldn't imagine how someone could make a s'more by themselves so i had to look it up :( then i found that without a table/flat surface it is actually impossible to make it by yourself so i was right in the end heh
• jin and nj share an indirect kiss when they share a s'more. indirect kisses make me v happy to this day
• now that i remember: the real reason i was excited for this chapter was bc when yoongi and jimin discuss their dreams for the future, it would foreshadow suga's career in the music industry
• if i may, i am going to confess something. i still don't get why i wrote jhope to be so willing to push tae and jk together even tho he and tae just broke up lmao
• this chapter was long as hell damn

Chapter 21: Super Mario and Japchae

• jin overthinking while texting his crush is a mood
• jin picking an outfit that says, "I'm trying but not that hard. I naturally look this good" is how i try to dress on the daily. sadly i fail 80% of the time
• in jin's overthinking monologue, he says he'll "die alone with five million cats or at least get arrested for having too many cats" when i was in 5th grade my teacher said that the legal limit for number of cats is 2. idk if that's true tho lol
• trope: jin loves sesame oil
• another trope: nj at cutting onions (from weekly idol lololol)
• jin making japchae for nj was inspired by the time when jin made a big feast (including japchae) for bts on their 1st anniversary

Chapter 22: Officially Unofficial

• this is that time i accidentally reuse the "officialness" of the relationship :(
• "One question remained in Taehyung's mind. What are we?" this happened way after i finished the fic, but one of my friends asked this to her crush when they were on a date and now they're together ahahaha
• "Jimin's lips were unbelieveably soft compared to Suga's slightly chapped ones" i always imagined suga's lips to be chapped idk why lol

Chapter 23: Han River

• i was also super excited to write this chapter bc this is a major moment for namjin
• i literally had to pull up a "things to do at the han river" tourist article bc i really don't know anything ab the han river other than it's really famous lol
• jimin has to sit in the middle seat in the back of jin's car bc he's the smallest. this is always an argument btwn me and my younger brother whenever we have to sit in the back and i always win heh
• jungkook describes tae's features and expressions when he's sleeping. partners admiring the other partner while they're sleeping is a trope that i will always love
• when the boys get rental bikes, tae says, "My grandma and I used to ride the bikes all the time when I was little...I miss her sometimes." this was around the time that tae's grandma died irl :(
• i wrote that the karaoke sign was competing with the other bright signs for attention bc i always noticed that city lights are packed so densely they have to compete with each other
• karaoke rooms are expeNSIVE (that's why all 7 of them pay 10,000won) but they always have cool furniture hehe
• jhope pushes jin into nj in the karaoke room. this was inspired by a time my friends pushed me into my crush in elementary school :(
• i wrote through a lot of the members' perspectives in this chapter, but i purposely avoided writing ab nj's thoughts bc i wanted his accidental rejection to be a surprise and also to keep it suspenseful
• rainbow motif appears again on the ferry ride !!
• namjoon rejects jin dab moment

Chapter 24: Confessions Again

• out of all the chapters, i think this chapter title is my favorite
• jin's dad calls jin's feelings for nj "dumb and hormonal" when i was younger and had crushes, my mom would call them dumb and hormonal. she was right lmaooo
• oblivious and awkward nj is a trope that i always like
• "We raised a son, not a snake" is one of my favorite lines in the fanfic
• for the scene where tae gets flowers for jk, i had to look up a bunch of flower names bc i am #uneducated
• tae and jk go on a sushi date !! when i wrote this, i always thought a sushi date would be super fun and now i can confirm that they are :)))
• tae and jk fighting over the check is one of my favorite scenes even tho it's so small and minor. i always thought it was really funny when ppl fight over who pays the check
• "I know this is inhumanly selfish to ask, but will you be my boyfriend?" is also one of my favorite lines :)
• when tae confesses to jk, jk thinks "Finally."  when my boyfriend asked me to be his girlfriend, he said that my face looked like i was also thinking, "Finally." hahaha
• suga gets to go into the music industry tease at the end heh. i wrote, "When Suga left that room, he couldn't be happier," after talking with Mr. Kwon. this is similar to how he felt when he and jimin got together, which is meant to foreshadow how he slowly starts to put his career first before jimin

Chapter 25: Attempt

• jin's password to his phone is "pinkprincessmarioislyfe" and honestly,, crackhead moment
• jin's parents making a bet on whether jin likes nj or not is hilarious and idc if i was the one the wrote it i wanna have a husband that i can make bets with
• the jk and nj scene at the park when jk tells nj that jin likes him is one of my favorites idk why
• just kidding i like the scene where jin's dad tells nj to go away more oop
• bruh the tease at the end where suga texts the group and tells them he has an important announcement caught me way off guard that's so cool of me

Chapter 26: Move

• nj saw in color for the first time aww
• wait this chapter is kinda sad and that caught me off guard :( (half of this bonus chapter has become commentary while i reread this fanfic lol sorry)
• if you haven't noticed, i named this chapter "Move" bc that's when suga announces he's moving away
• there's not much ab this chapter :(

Chapter 27: Together

• jhope has a priest license from online...crackhead moment x 100
• nj taking jin to the park and telling him that some things are better spoken ab in person is supposed to mirror how jk did the same thing with nj and honestly wow,, literary genius
• mr. kim catching nj and jin kissing at the park was supposed to be a leeway into him and jin talking things out and eventually giving his blessing to namjin bc i didn't have any idea how to wrap up his conflict with nj lol
• in my author's note i wasn't as bubbly and said, "I hope you enjoyed this week's chapter" bc at this point i started updating less and honestly that makes me so emo :((( sorry for letting you guys down after awhile...:(((

Chapter 28: Promise

• i forgot to say this in previous chapters but suga types in lapslock bc it fits him heh
• i purposely made jimin make a lot of typos when he was texting suga on the day of his debut bc he was super excited and it would only make sense
• on the video call btwn suga and the rest of the group, nj says to suga, "They seriously prettied you up, haha." whenever i watch kpop mvs my parents always say that idols look really "pretty" (regardless of gender which i think is p cool if i say so myself) 
• there's one line that says, "Jimin opened his mouth to blow out the candle, but Taehyung beat him to it." this is inspired by the 1st anniversary bts vid where they were all going to blow out the cake candle but tae did it first hahaha
• the agust d mixtape !! at this point in time it had been out for a couple months but i was still obsessed with it
• during suga's interview, all of the fans that ask questions are named after characters in kdramas
  • park hana from drinking solo
  • mo geumbi from oh my geumbi
• throughout the fic the text messages don't have time stamps on them but i put them there in this chapter to emphasize how yoonmin was growing distant from e/o
• there's one part where jimin texts suga and tells him that he had to bring his phone in for repair bc of water damage. the water damage was supposed to come from him crying constantly bc of the hate comments from fans and the distance btwn him and his boyfriend
• this one's p obvious, but when suga keeps typing, then stopping, then typing again after jimin asks if he promises to be with him forever, he is hestitating to answer bc his career has made him unsure and he is hesitating. this is a direct contrast to the beginning of the chapter where jimin asks him the same thing and he answers with no hesitation. however, in the end, suga still answers that he promises which foreshadows that even tho they're in a rough patch in their relationship, they will ultimately stay together in the end
• the part where jimin texts suga on their anniversary has time stamps on every message. however, they're all marked "yesterday" which is supposed to show that yoongi checked his messages on the day after their anniversary and that it's too late for him to wish jimin a happy anniversary as well. it is implied that jimin sent the messages throughout the day when he texts yoongi goodnight
• when jimin is put in a group chat with suga's fangirls, the messages are marked as "Read✓" to show that even tho jimin didn't respond to them, he is actively checking and reading them which eventually leads to their breakup
• the last text message from a fangirl is from "Park Jihye" i can't remember if she was named after someone in particular but if she is then i can't remember who oops
• all of the news articles at the end of the chapter are clickable and some of the links lead to little jokes that correlate with the "author" of the news article
  • Author: TheGrindNeverStops; it's the student athlete meme that i was obsessed with at the time for some reason
  • Author: ItWasDowoonWithTheDogNotWonpil; around this time, the mv for Day6's I'm Serious came out and my friend confused wonpil for dowoon and i made fun of her for it relentlessly

Chapter 29

• this was one of the easiest chapters to write and also one of my favorites bc i felt like i actually did a good job building up to it. i also was excited for the readers' reactions (which did not disappoint hehe i still read them every once in a while)
• the format for this chapter is off on purpose and is inspired by the fanfic "bones" by yuygeom on ao3
  • i definitely recommend this fic !! it's easy to read, but a few trigger warnings: angst, eating disorders, emotional abuse
• the format is also to show how difficult and hurtful to comprehend the heartbreak that jimin was experiencing was. every time he feels slightly better, the format goes slightly back to normal
• if i remember correctly, this chapter took literally a day or two to write (which in this point in the chapter was really really fast bc i was starting to update around once or twice a month). it says that it was in drafts for a week bc the actual proofreading process took longer than the writing process bc i wanted it to be perfect 
• throughout the fanfic, i called suga "suga" and not "yoongi" bc that was his nickname and it was personal to the group. however, now i refer to him as "yoongi" bc suga went to the industry and "yoongi" was now the name that was personal to the group
• one of my favorite lines that i was waiting forever and ever to write was, "the color is bleeding and yelling and telling jimin to stop" bc that's how i imagined the color to react when the person acts against their romantic feelings
• this chapter is written in present tense to make it more emotional and to put the reader more into the story and experience the emotion rather than recounting it as if it were just a normal story (for the most part i think this technique worked)
• jimin telling himself that he's pathetic after breaking up with yoongi is supposed to directly contrast when suga's fangirls call him pathetic for staying with him
• the format returns to normal after they breakup to show that even tho jimin is hurt by the breakup, he also feels a sense of relief
• totally inappropriate timing but one of the news articles is also an inside joke
  • Author: HipHopFaces; my friend is part of the hiphop team at school and she was telling me ab facial expressions for dancing and they looked really funny so i put it in lol
• the last line, "This number is not in your contacts. Would you like to report spam?" is not directed toward jimin but rather to the readers to (once again) allow them to experience the emotion
• the chapter is supposed to be easy to read but also incredibly emotional. it's full of contradictions and parallels, which itself parallels with how yoonmin's breakup was so wrong even tho it felt right
• this chapter is definitely my favorite out of the fic. i'm proud of how meticulous and detailed it was :))

Chapter 30: Announcement! Shameless self plug

• this wasn't a chapter, but i'll still put it here anyways lol

Chapter 31: Okay

• in this chapter, suga is also referred to as "yoongi" bc not only is that name personal to the group but bc his musical career has ended and "suga" has gone to the grave
• another one of my favorite lines is "Yoongi was there to stay, but not for him. Yoongi wasn't his anymore."
• the get together scene is also one of my favorites bc of the way it contrasts to Chapter 29
• contrasts
  • "everything was in slow motion." in chapter 29, the breakup was rushed and done so impulsively
  • "the color slowly seeping into his closed eyes." in chapter 29, the color was not kind. it was screaming and bleeding, but here it is gently bc the even tho yoonmin are not at the state that they were in before, they are healing
• "I never stopped loving you, Jiminie" i- ...it's so sweet :'))))

Chapter 32: Epilogue. (YEA BABY FINALLY)

• i never noticed but there are 10 bookmarks on this chapter holy- thank you :')))
• this was a segway into how bts became bts and started making music all together hehe. i kinda wanted it to end this way? and it emphasizes the point of the bts world game that no matter what happens, it's fate that all 7 would come together and be a team together and wow that's so emotional and deep :'))
• jimin's teacher recommends him to a company to audition !! like irl wow the detail :'))
• contrast btwn online and the real world: ppl are always tough on the internet and say whatever comes to mind (hate comments and messages to jimin) but are much kinder in person (the manager's daughter believing in yoonmin's love and relationship)
• author's note: AND THAT IS A WRAPPPPP!!!

and this...truly is a wrap :')) the fanfic has been clinging to the back of my mind for so long, but here is the point where i truly say goodbye to YMMLC. looking back makes me emotional bc so much has changed since then and i really do miss writing, being such an avid bts stan, and just being so passionate in general.

this bonus chapter hasn't received much attention, which was expected bc most of my old readers aren't active anymore :( but thankfully, it has also brought some new subscribers, so for that i am thankful. to any new subscribers that may see this, hi !! i'm so happy that you're here and i hope you enjoyed the fanfic as much as i enjoyed writing it and reminiscing :)
