I Miss You So Bad

My tutor Jinhwan

“Dress nicely, we are going to meet important people,”

Those words echoed in his head as he stepped out of the black car that led him to the meeting location. When Chanwoo agreed to accompany his father to a fancy lunch to meet the old man's work partner, he didn’t know that it would be the day he met the love of his life, as he thought. The elevator door opened when they had arrived at floor 68, and the smell of delicious, luxury food filled their noses. Chanwoo had attended a few meetings like this before, but as a kid, and that was with his mother as well, which was family orientated dinner. However these suits and this very fancy restaurant told otherwise. It seemed to be a very serious business dinner, and Chanwoo was really nervous to say or do something to ruin his father’s business.

Chanwoo gulped as a young waitress followed them to the table. He looked around, searching for the toilet, the closes escape, but lost the thought immediately. Right in front of them there were a table with two men, dressed up in suits, just like them, and the man at the table looked directly at them. Chanwoo could hear a faint “Well, they have come now, so I guess we’ll continue now,” followed by the boy with his back facing them suddenly turned around, looking curious at them. Chanwoo’s eyes widened by the look of the handsome boy. He was probably older than him. He had a lean face with a strong nose, and his jawline was made from heaven. Chanwoo’s stomach dropped in the minute the boy turned around and his back were to be seen.

As the came to the table, the man who sat at the table, assumingly to be his father’s partner, stood up, greeting them. “Ahhh, welcome Jung Yong-byoung! It’s an honour to see you again,” said the business partner, and as the two men having a small chitchat, Chanwoo’s focus returned to the guy again. Admiring his handsomeness, Chanwoo tried to make in not obvious that he was staring, but it was hard. He was really outstanding, and Chanwoo could swear he felt some tickling in his stomach. Although Chanwoo tried to hide the smile, it eventually disappeared, as he saw how the boy was not into this dinner at all. It seemed like he had his thoughts on a different level than here. He looked frustrated, thoughtful, almost regretful. Chanwoo couldn’t put his finger on what it was, but he knew the boy was not happy about being here.

Chanwoo was ripped away from his thoughts as his father spoke up. “Hanbin, I want you to meet my son, he should be about you age, perhaps a bit younger,” Chanwoo looked nervously at Hanbin as he saw Hanbin glanced at him. “You may not know him that well now, but you’ll have plenty of time to get to know each other,” he said cheerful. “This is my son, Jung Chanwoo.” At the introduction of his name, Chanwoo stood up quickly, ready to shake hands. Hanbin eventfully followed unsure. As their hands touched, Chanwoo’s heart began pumping more blood than normal. He could almost feel his palms become sweatier. Hanbin had a firm and masculine grip, and Chanwoo liked that. Hanbin was the first one to let go, making Chanwoo somewhat disappointed. His father continued to talk about him, but Chanwoo could only focus on Hanbin. He needed his attention.

When Chanwoo’s father announced that Chanwoo would take over his company in the future, and the two fathers wanted them to work together, Chanwoo got excited, but seeing Hanbin’s disapproval face, made his heart sink to the bottom of is stomach. Then suddenly a message that caught both of guard was following: Young-byoung, Chanwoo’s father, explained that they were attending the same school, and now would have plenty of time to get to know each other, which gave a reaction of both happiness and dumbfound. Dumbfounded was Hanbin, while happiness belonged to Chanwoo. Being the son of a rich businessman, Chanwoo was used to get what he wanted, Hanbin included. So that was exactly what he was going to do. Get Hanbin to like him.

After observing the scene between the love of his life, Hanbin, and the short senior, Jinhwan, Chanwoo stepped out from behind the wall with his palm clenched. God he was angry. If only he could let it out somehow. This wasn’t Hanbin fault at all; rather the small little beside him was at fault. Gritted his teeth, muttering, “just wait Kim Jinhwan, you’ll pay for stealing my Binnie.” Chanwoo walked with firm steps towards where Hanbin and Jinhwan had been standing and kissing. Anger bubble, jealousy filled in his stomach, Chanwoo didn’t know if he would cry or punch the wall, but as the anger took over, suddenly his hand was at the wall. Although Chanwoo it tall, he is not that strong of a person, and as the wall was made of concrete, it wouldn’t be weird that his hand started to hurt. He quickly withdrew his hand and held on it in pain, while letting out a “Curse you Jinhwan.”

Suddenly, Chanwoo jumped with the sound of footsteps approaching him. Turning around to the source of the sound, he frowned when he saw Junhwe stepping out of the shadows. “J-Junhwe?” Chanwoo asked, just to make sure he was right. A nod and a slight chuckle was his answer. “Did you see it all?” Chanwoo asked, looking at Junhwe, who was looking where the pair had gone. He nodded in respond and rested his hands in his pockets. Not knowing what to do, Chanwoo where on the verge to scream in frustration, almost kicking the trashcan over, but remembering he must clean it up, and leave the thought before he has to do anything dirty and unnecessarily. Chanwoo greeted his teeth. He couldn’t just see the love of his life getting stolen from him by a small guy who don’t even reach up to his standards, both height wise and in general.

Junhwe looked at him. Despite Chanwoo’s desperate and frustrated face, Junhwe had a smirk playing on his lips. “Chanwoo, Chanwoo, Chanwoo, don’t be sad,” Junhwe said as he earned a confused stare. “Chanwoo, that’s you’re name, right?”  Junhwe said coolly, to make sure he didn’t say anything wrong. As Chanwoo nodded, Junhwe saw that as a cue to continue. “Well Chanwoo, no need to let out your tears on that little kiss,”

Chanwoo turned irritated towards Junhwe. “Yah! I’m not crying!” he said stubbornly.

Junhwe rolled his eyes and continued. “Anyway, we should do something about those two, right?” Chanwoo nodded, finally listening to the sly fox. “I have an idea,” he smirked.

Jinhwan was still not over the happening yesterday. They had actually kissed at school! Even though they were hiding, it still was a kiss in the public, making Jinhwan proud. He knew Hanbin was not that open about it, but making such a move, made him happy, even though it was out of jealousy, it still was passion. Beside Jinhwan found it a bit y the way Hanbin got jealous. Jinhwan suddenly felt warmness upon his cheeks of the further thoughts that could come along with a jealous Hanbin. Covering his cheeks, Jinhwan went over to find Hanbin in embarrassment.

After searching for a good while, without any success, Jinhwan began frowning. It was not like Hanbin to just disappear, and not tell him where of to. Well it was not like he had to tell him, but it wouldn’t hurt anyone to tell.  Jinhwan didn’t seem to find Junhwe either, making him worried that Hanbin could be beating him up somewhere for “flirting” with him. Jinhwan rolled his eyes and chuckled. As he gave up and was heading towards the classroom, Jinhwan met up with the person he didn’t expect to see.

“Jinan hyung,” Chanwoo said with an oh so cute voice.

Jinhwan turned around towards him. “What is it Chanwoo, need anything?” he asks with a smile, looking up at the taller, yet younger kid.

“Ah no nothing at all, but you seemed to be searching for something or someone?” He asked concerned, making Jinhwan worried. Chanwoo usually looked at him as if he wanted to kill him, but now he was all kind. Something wasn’t adding up. Jinhwan mentally shrugged on his shoulders and let that thought go as he answered: “Yeah I haven’t seen Hanbin yet, do you happen to know where he is?” Jinhwan asked, looking around in the room, not seeing Chanwoo’s evil smirk.

As soon as Jinhwan turned to him again he washed of the smirk, and smiled at his hyung. “Ah yeah don’t worry about him, he’s with Bobby and the gang,” Chanwoo assured and Jinhwan smiled, thanking him. Since Hanbin was with them, Jinhwan might as well find him after class and talk to him then.

“Ah okay thank you Chanwoo,” Jinhwan smiled sweetly and went off to his classroom, leaving Chanwoo behind, staring at the smaller guy disappear into one of the classrooms. In the exact minute, Chanwoo felt a hand on his shoulder, making him jump in his shoes.

“Jung Chanwoo, right?” he heard the husky voice ask and turned around to face Bobby. He nodded slightly, and Bobby looked at him and smiled. “Have you seen Jinhwan hyung? I wanted to ask him something,” Bobby smiled with his famous eye smile. Chanwoo’s eyes widened at Bobby. . If Bobby where to find Jinhwan and Jinhwan found out that Hanbin wasn’t with them, then Chanwoo would be screwed! Jinhwan would get the hang of the truth and tell Hanbin, meaning Chanwoo would loose Hanbin, which was not acceptable.

“Hyung!” Chanwoo suddenly dragged in Bobby’s arm, preventing him walking any way. “Hyung likes to play videogames, right?” Chanwoo practically forced himself on Bobby.

Bobby however didn’t seem to notice anything special and just tagged along. “Yeah sure thing! I love playing, though I wish B.I would play more with me,” he said in a jokingly offended voice.

Chanwoo saw this as his opportunity. “Excellent hyung! I need someone to talk about the new game! Overwatch something,” Chanwoo played as if he didn’t know, only to make sure Bobby would fall in the trap. Which he surly did.

“Have you been playing the Overwatch?! That’s awesome! It’s awesome right?” Bobby began talking enthusiastically about the game, while Chanwoo only half listened. Truth be told, he couldn’t care less about now, because the bunny fell into the hat of tricks. Chanwoo breathed in relief as he managed to distract Bobby from looking for Jinhwan, else Jinhwan would soon realise that something didn’t add up. Yep, crisis averted, Chanwoo thinks to himself and smiles proudly.

More than before, Jinhwan felt like the clock stood still, as he was eager to get out of class and talk with Hanbin. Although he saw him yesterday, and sees him in school, he hadn’t talked to him all day, and was more eager than usual. Even thought Jinhwan was eager to see Hanbin, he also had an unpleasing feeling about something. What it was, he had no idea, but he knew there was something.

In the minute the school clock rang its bell, Jinhwan jumped on his feet and packed his things, ready to head to Hanbin. Hanbin who usually was surrounded by many people, spotted Jinhwan and, Jinhwan wasn’t sure, but it looked like he became nervous. Hanbin waved off the others and Jinhwan almost skipped towards the taller boy.

“Hanbin-ah,” Jinhwan said while smiling at Hanbin, making Hanbin swallow his own spit. , why did he have to be so adorable? Hanbin faked a smile as he waked towards Jinhwan, mumbling a “yeah.”

“Do you have any plans today, ‘cause I thought we could have a lesson today?“ Jinhwan smiled eagerly as he finally had time to actually be with him.

Hanbin hated it. He hated how Jinhwan would look now. Hurt and betrayed. He really didn’t want to do it, but it was for Jinhwan’s own good.

“Jinhwan, about the lesson, I really ca-“

Hanbin was cut of by Jinhwan’s sweet voice. “And I think we will be home alone,” Jinhwan said as he was thinking for himself.

“Well, but Jinhwan I’m Sorry I ca-“

“W-wait I didn’t mean it like that, like us doing…. stuff, but you know what I meant!” Jinhwan began rambling, as he was all red by now. By the time, Hanbin understood what he had said, and how wrong it could sound. Suddenly Hanbin couldn’t hold it and burst out laughing at how embarrassed Jinhwan was.

“Y-yah! Don’t laugh,” Jinhwan said covering his face. Hanbin smiled and took Jinhwan’s hands in his and removed the hands. Now he was left standing with Jinhwan’s beautiful face, covered in a light shade of pink. This didn’t make it easier for Hanbin in any way. He mentally cursed at he thought of how to tell him.

After battling with himself, he finally let out: “Jinhwan, I can’t have the tutor lesson today, I-I eh… I made plans with Bobby, and we’re going to write lyrics for the raps.” Hanbin closed his eyes, not daring to look at Jinhwan. Was it believable? Would he fall for it? Hanbin felt horrible for lying to Jinhwan, but he needed to do this. Jinhwan would be the happiest after this. Hanbin counted to five before he carefully opened his eyes, only to see a calm Jinhwan. Hanbin frowned in a split second before he breathed out in relief.

“Ah that’s okay, we’ll find another day, right?” Jinhwan smiled as he looked up at the taller, hiding the disappointment.

Hanbin nodded eagerly, “yes, yes, we’ll definitely find another day! What about tomorrow?” he suggested. Jinhwan nodded and smiled. Suddenly the sound the bell rang through their ears, signalling the new class was starting. Jinhwan smiled at him, ensuring everything was fine, before going off, leaving Hanbin with a bad conscience.

The next day the gang sat together at the usual table at the cafeteria and Jinhwan joined in fast, sitting next to his secret beloved boy. Hanbin smiled as the smaller who sat down beside him and unpacked his lunch. Hanbin were quick to steal a piece of chicken from him, earning a “Yah!” from the Jinhwan, along with a laughter from everyone else around the table, except from two other who were looking at each other with mischievousness in their eyes. After lunch the gang spilt at left Jinhwan and Hanbin all by themselves. Hanbin turned to Jinhwan who smiled at him.

Jinhwan leaned in, acting all cute, saying “Hanbin-ah,” holding onto the ‘ah’, which caused Hanbin to look away as he blushed crazy. Oh how he hated when Jinhwan did that. Becoming cute and Hanbin couldn’t help but blush. He hated how cue and adorable Jinhwan was. He hated how other people could look at Jinhwan the same as Hanbin did. The younger boy wanted the older all to himself. How possessive that sound like, Hanbin thought to himself.

The smaller began laughing as he succeeded making him blush. “Hanbin-ah, what do you want to do today, maybe we can be at my place, or the library, you choose,” Jinhwan said the last thing fast with a smile. He had his hands placed behind his back and leaned a bit towards Hanbin. Hanbin really hated this as well. He swallowed hard as he looked into Jinhwan’s pure eyes.

Hanbin shut his eyes as he counted to five, considering his answer. How he wished to answer yes right away, but he couldn’t. “Jinhwan, about todays plans… I-I really cant today either,” he looked around everywhere, but at Jinhwan. If he looked at Jinhwan, he might as well give in to the smaller. Hanbin may seem like a mentally strong person to anyone, but in the minute Jinhwan is mentioned, he becomes as weak as a puppy. “Me and Bobby have plans,” he took a shot breath as he continued, “the rap thing again,” he said finally looking at Jinhwan.

In the minute, Bobby passed them, and Hanbin saw this as an opportunity. He was fast to grab onto Bobby’s shoulder. “Right Bobby, we have plans?” Hanbin said in a threating way. Bobby looked confused at first Jinhwan, until Hanbin tightened the grip on his shoulder and Bobby winced in pain.

“Oh yeah I almost forgot, my bad,” Bobby said, and Hanbin breathed out in relief. He glanced carefully at Jinhwan, only to see his suspicious face. Jinhwan didn’t believe them one bit, but it seems to be something important so he didn’t want to be a nagging boyfriend. He put up a fake smile and told them it was totally fine before he excused himself since classed started soon.

“Okay so what are we hiding?” Bobby said as he followed Jinhwan with his eyes. Hanbin saw how Jinhwan had put on a fake smile and he knew this wouldn’t be good.

“Nothing, I just can’t be with him at the moment,” Hanbin said. After Jinhwan was out of eyesight, Hanbin looked at bobby and patted his back. “Anyway, thank you for the help,” he said and with that he left, leaving Bobby confused.

Jinhwan walked in the classroom, both disappointed and curious. What was Hanbin doing? He had been rejected twice, and the second time, he didn’t seem convincing at all, and Jinhwan couldn’t help but feel a knot take place in his stomach. Was he beginning to worry? And was he worried for nothing. As Jinhwan was deep in his thoughts, he didn’t notice a silhouette of a guy take place beside him. The guy even sat down and Jinhwan didn’t notice a thing. Only when his husky voice spoke up, Jinhwan came to life again.

“Jinan, are you okay?” Jinhwan snapped put of the trance and turned fast to the source of the voice, only to be met by Junhwe.

“Junhwe,” Jinhwan smiled at him, “yes I’m fine.” He paused at he looked in the direction of the door, as Hanbin walked through with some of is friends, laughing. Jinhwan sighted lowly; as he looked down on his desk, ready to take out his notes. Junhwe kept looked at him, waiting for more because he knew there were more to it. Jinhwan noticed and looked up at him with the math book in his hand. He sighted louder this time. “And it seems like Hanbin and I don’t have much time together anymore, or at least these days,” Jinhwan said. He knew it only had been two days with rejection, but it felt like it had been longer, and somehow he felt like it would be more days to come. “You see, Hanbin is working on his rap with Bobby, and I’m very excited for him,” Jinhwan put on a happy face, not wanting Junhwe to keep asking.

Junhwe was silently observing the smaller. Now that he was at his “saddest” maybe he should strike. “In other words; you have more free time now?” He dared to ask. He stared at Jinhwan intensely, afraid he striked too fast. Jinhwan nodded slightly, but didn’t show any signs of actually listening.  As there were no real answers to get form the other, he looked at Jinhwan’s book. He collected his mind, striking again. “If you have much spear time, and I also happen to almost failing math,” he said as he grabbed the math book out of Jinhwan’s hands. “Maybe you could help tutoring me,” he said smirking.  Jinhwan looked at him surprised, as his book was suddenly stolen out of his hands. Junhwe looked over at Hanbin, while chuckling. “You shouldn’t waist your precious time, when you can fill it in with other things.” He looked at the smaller that seemed to think through his offer carefully, making Junhwe smirk.

Jinhwan looked over at Hanbin, seeing how much he seemed to enjoy time with his friends. Hanbin then walked over to Bobby and made their handshake. Jinhwan smiled through the knot that became tighter in his stomach. “Maybe,” Jinhwan said, making Junhwe jump in his seat. The older turned to Junhwe, “I have to get my book for biology, I got the wrong one,” he stood up. “About the tutoring, let me think about it, but don’t let that thought slip,” Jinhwan said as he walked to the lockers.

Junhwe kept sitting still on the chair beside Jinhwan’s chair, resting his head in his palm. “How could I forget that?” He smirked. He then looked at Hanbin who was smiling widely while talking to with Bobby and Yunhyeong, trying to suppress his excitement at the thought of finally prying Jinhwan off of him.

Days seem to pass; yet Jinhwan still hasn’t been with Hanbin. Not even a small walk home, even though they live with some distance between them, but still it began to annoy Jinhwan. And guess what Hanbin has done each and every day? Rapping with Bobby. Jinhwan doestn hate it, but it has been so many days, without a break. Too many days had passed, 15 days to be exact –Jinhwan had been counting-  and Jinhwan began missing Hanbin. Yet again, Jinhwan could only sit form his chair in class and admire him from afar as he, or Hanbin, didn’t have time for him. Jinhwan sighted as a cheerful Donghyuk sat down beside him.

“Jinanie guess what?” he said excitedly.

“What,” Jinhwan mumbled as he wasn’t really in the mood for excitement.

"Yesterday I spent my whole day with Yunhyeong! First we went home to the local market just to see and have fun, and then we went home to him and he has a really nice house! And then he cooked food to me! He’s an excellent cook, like seriously. I hope he becomes a chef. I would go to him everyday! Oh and after that we watched a horror movie, but we both got so scared we turned it off and ended up talking about everything and nothing!” he laughed at the last part. Hearing all these romantic things, Jinhwan couldn’t help but feel jealous as he hasn’t had been in a romantic happening since the confession. Sure, they had been lovey-dovey, but never in such way as Donghyuk had experienced. Although it sounds girly, Jinhwan wants to experience such sweet romance as well. He looked at Hanbin, who was in his own world. Why couldn’t he be romantic?

Seeing how happy Donghyuk was, and how happy Hanbin was, with his friends, Jinhwan began pouting, making Donghyuk laugh. “Yah Jinan, stop pouting,” he said as he poked the olders cheek. “Come and join me at the market after school, I want to buy the couple apron I saw earlier, you remember?” he asked and Jinhwan responded with a somewhat mumble of a ‘yes’. “And maybe you could buy something for Hanbin, maybe a couple gift? To surprise him?” Donghyuk suggested, making Jinhwan light up. Maybe that’s the reason why Hanbin haven’t been with him lately? Maybe Jinhwan is the one who should be the romantic one? As the thought came Jinhwan immediately agreed to join Donghyuk. Now Jinhwan knew how to win Hanbin’s attention.

And as planned, they headed to the market right after school. Jinhwan was always amazed over how many people that fit into the small place. Sure it was outside, and there was space, but people had the tendency to come in large groups and take up the good space, but maybe that’s what makes these places so lovable for Jinhwan? Donghyuk was fast on his feet towards the couple aprons he had seen earlier, while Jinhwan was slowly examining the whole place for the cutest and most meaningful thing he could find. Jinhwan searched high and low, both in the old shops that looked like they were about to fall, and the newer ones who seemed like it just moved into the market. He searched behind bookshelves and in every corner of the market.

Sighting, he found Donghyuk who already had bought the aprons and now was munching on mandus he had just bought. Jinhwan took a bite as he leaned into Donghyuk. Donghyuk looked at the smaller, who clearly hasn’t found anything yet. “Have you tried to look at Mickey Mouse things?” he asked, knowing from Jinhwan’s rant about Hanbin, that Hanbin likes Mickey Mouse.

Jinhwan rubbed his head towards Donghyuk’s shoulder before answering: “Yeah but I want to give something meaningful.” Jinhwan began pouting as he looked around some more.

Donghyuk also began searching, as his friends seemed to be depressed by not finding anything. “What does Hanbin like to do? Does he have a hobby?” Donghyuk asked as he went looking at the couple things. What Hanbin likes? One thing for sure is rapping. Suddenly Jinhwan’s eyes widened. Rap. Since Hanbin was going to be with Bobby today, and practise rap, maybe he should buy something that he can use when it comes to rap. Maybe a pen? Or is a pen meaningless? Jinhwan looked in the pen section. Maybe a Mickey Mouse pen? Hanbin has a weird love for Mickey Mouse. Jinhwan laughed to himself as he remembered all the Mickey Mouse things Hanbin has in his room.

Then suddenly Jinhwan noticed a big, blinking sign, which read: “NAME YOUR FOUNTAIN PEN!” with big letters. Jinhwan got curious and walked over to the man behind the counter. He burned a name into the fountain pen, and Jinhwan’s eyes sparkled in fascination. When the man was done he gave it to a lady who paid him and waving a goodbye. Jinhwan’s eyes were still on the sight of the beautiful one, and then the idea hit him. He would buy Hanbin a fountain pen with his name on!

While the man was burning Hanbin’s name into the pen, Jinhwan waved Donghyuk over. “Donghyuk-ah! Look at this. I think Hanbin will like this. Or will it be a total bummer?” Jinhwan said, suddenly becoming insecure over the gift.

Donghyuk looked at the pen and smiled. “You know what, I don’t think he will like it,” Donghyuk said, making Jinhwan’s heart drop. Donghyuk looked at Jinhwan and siled. “He will love it!” he said ruffling his hair while Jinhwan fake hit him.

“Yah! Don’t scare me like that!” Jinhwan said, as Donghyuk couldn’t help but laugh. Even the man behind the counter chuckled, as he was finally done and gave Jinhwan the pen. Jinhwan thanked him and paid. “Have a nice day!” he said before walking off.

Donghyuk looked at the clock. “Jinanie, should we head home, I want to watch the next episode of the new drama Yunhyeong recommended me,” he said and Jinhwan rolled his eyes.

“And I have to join because…?” he asked looking at Donghyuk sarcastically.

“Because you’re my best friend,” Donghyuk smiled as he began walking faster, smiling, knowing Jinhwan would join him no matter what.

Jinhwan was about to throw a shade on Donghyuk when he suddenly heard someone laugh loud from the tent beside them. “Does it look good on me?” Jinhwan heard a very familiar annoying voice say. Jinhwan turned to the annoying source, when suddenly he saw the person he hadn’t expected to see with the person he least wanted to see. His jaw dropped at the sight. Hanbin with Chanwoo.
