Nineteen

Secrets & Lies

"Where's Seunghoon?" I asked, noticed he was the only one absent. Later, Jinwoo informed me that Seunghoon was having a race. I only nodded in affirmation. In two minutes, I saw Seunghoon finished his race with only a milisecond difference with his opponent.

Seunghoon turned his motorcycle very coolly in a semi-circular pattern and I could hear him yelled loudly as his celebration. My lips automatically smiled as he walked to us after parking his vehicle.

"Wooo!!! Seunghoon you are the best man!" Jinwoo cheered. They bumped their fists and Jinwoo hit Seunghoon's arm playfully. Seunghoon was wearing this proud smile on his face and I took my turn to congratulate him.

"I told you, that kid is an amateur," he told Seungyoon and Jinwoo. They both nodded, adding some comments that agreeing to Seunghoon's words. "But I have to admit that his skill will be really good if it gets polished some more," Seunghoon added.

"Who is it?" I asked, kind of curious about the opponent they were talking about.

Seunghoon nodded his head towards the crowd at the other end of this road. "Them. They are still a scholar kids. I wonder what are they doing instead of studying for college or something," he sounded displeased.

I threw my gaze to the other commotion. My eyes squinted as I found something that was quite a surprise to me. "What?" My voice came out almost inaudible as my brain tried to register what my eyes had seen. Wasn't it Jiwon? I thought I was imagining things but then I scanned the other people and, if this was coincidence then it was a very big one since I saw people very similar to Jinhwan, Chanwoo, and very lastly, Hanbin.

At first I couldn't believe my own eyes but the more I paid attention, the more my suspicion was confirmed. I was too scared to ask Seunghoon. Somehow I was afraid. I didn't know why I was feeling that way but I thought in someway, I feared that it was true.

"They are very ambitious kids. They really want to win over Mino which is quite hard for them. I don't know. They keep trying on it." Seunghoon shrugged nonchalantly.

The chats explored more topics as they began to talk about newest vehicles and such. I was only standing there, not really listening to them. My whole mind and attention was directed to the opposite team. What if it was really Hanbin alongside his friends? Hanbin decided to cancel our hang out plan today, saying that he needed to accompany his mother. But reality wise, he was here racing instead.

It it was indeed Hanbin, then he just lied to me.

I shook my head to erase the thought. I tried to be positive. Maybe it was only someone who looked somewhat like him.

"Yeonjoo," someone earned my attention as my name was called. "Yes?" I asked, turned to the source of the voice.

Mino was already stood near me as he scooted over for more. He grinned from ear to ear as he greeted me with a hi five. "Where's your cousin?" He asked, to my surprise, he slung his arm around my shoulders, pulling himself closer to me. I threw him a look but he was being normal. Maybe I was overreacting.

Mino began to distract my attention with his questions about my school and life. Just when I remembered about Hanbin again, I looked at the other end of the road only to be disappointed as the-supposed-to-be Hanbin wasn't there anymore.

I would just try to ask them tomorrow.

---

It was very rare for me to be excited to go to school but today somehow I was being quite cheerful and yeah excited. I went to school together with Nayeon and being the good sister she was, she accompanied me to class -which was unnecessary and I told her to not to but she insisted- before going for hers.

Junhoe was already sitting inside the room, sitting cross-legged with his eyes closed. I only shook my head at his behaviour, proceeding to my seat.

It was hard for me to concentrate during the class periods since my mind was flying elsewhere. I couldn't help but to think about yesterday night events. I was dying to ask Hanbin yet I was afraid at the same time. When the bell rang signalling the break, just like usual Donghyuk asked me to go with him to the cafeteria.

Should I just ask Donghyuk instead?

I thought about the option for few moments and decided to not to. I'd just ask Hanbin. What was so harm about asking him? He was my boyfriend afterall.

"Hey love," Hanbin greeted as soon as he saw me. No matter how many times I've heard him calling me with some endearments, there'd be this little unexplainable feeling inside my stomach; it was like flowers were blossoming around and butterflies were swarming around happily. It might be too cheesy but I really loved the way he called me love, sweetheart and such. It made me somewhat special.

"Hey Hanbin," I replied with a smile.

"Why don't you make some cute names for me instead of using Hanbin?" He asked with a cute pout.  I honestly wanted to peck him right there but I reminded myself that we were in public; school to be precise.

I laughed a little at him before sitting down right next to him. "Why? Should I call you baby bear? oo? That's cringe," I made a facr to him. Hanbin just pinched my cheeks and laughed it off.

Then as all the boys were already there, they began to talk amongst themselves. I only sat there, listening to them. I smiled here and there at their conversation but my mind went back to last night. I'd better ask Hanbin now.

"Hanbin-ah," I cooed, nudging him on his elbow. "Yes?" He answered sweetly, tearing away his attention from his friends to me. I got so nervous all of sudden because of his stare.

"Where were you last night?" I asked straightforwardly to him. He looked a bit surprised because of my question but he quickly went back to his composed self.

"I was out with the guys. I am sorry, Dear. It wasn't like I didn't want to go out with you."

I looked at his apologetic face and I found myself melted. I nodded at him and immediately said that it was fine.

"Where did all of you go? Just asking," I asked again. Hanbin paused for couple of seconds before answering, "Mmm.. Just to a Noraebang. Nothing to worry, Sweetheart," he said calmly, ruffling my hair.

I mentally frowned at his answer. Hanbin lied. He actually wanted to hide the fact he he'd gone racing. Well some part of me didn't blame him though since he might have thought that I might disapprove his activity or something. But other part of me blamed him for not being honest.

"Let's go somewhere tonight. I want to make it up to you," he offered. I gave it some thought before I found myself accepting his offer. Hanbin grinned before pecking my lips quickly. My eyes widened in surprise as I slapped his arm. "We're at school Hanbin!" I hissed. He just laughed happily.
