Animals missing had become a big issue around here. Villagers were asked to lock their pens up and close all doors after night time just to be safe. It was like all of a sudden, danger had come upon the little village. It all started about three weeks ago when the villagers were complaining about their missing livestock. The head of the villager decided that there must be a wolf on the loose. After all, the only thing surrounding the village was a big forest. The only thing they could do is take precautions and be careful. They volunteered on taking shifts and patrolling every night.

            Kyungsoo’s sheep was the first to be missing. Although, they weren’t missing, Kyungsoo knew exactly where they had gone. Day by day, the sheep became lesser and lesser until now the pen stood empty without a single sheep in it. And then that’s when animals from the other villagers’ started missing. Kyungsoo knew it was his to blame. But he had no other choice. He just prayed that they wouldn’t find out about his biggest secret.

            But his prayers were not answered as a patrolling volunteer knocked on his door on one particular night. Kyungsoo opened the door and greeted him politely. But his expression changed when the man asked to enter his house.

            “I’ve locked all windows and doors right after evening,” Kyungsoo explained, “I can assure you my house is completely safe, you don’t have to worry.”

            “It is my duty to ensure everyone’s safety,” the young man smiled politely. Kyungsoo had no choice but to stand aside as the man made his own way into his house. He looked up at the sky before closing the door behind them. There was a beautiful full moon hanging on the sky.

The living room was brightly lit while it was dark upstairs. Kyungsoo held his breath and hoped Jongin wouldn’t make a sound. The young man explored Kyungsoo’s house like a detective checking for clues. But of course, there was nothing that he could find. Not even in the kitchen. He ascended the stairs and Kyungsoo followed close behind.

The man walked over to the black door right opposite from Kyungsoo’s bedroom. There was no sound. No scraping, no scratching of claws against metal, no groans, no growls and no howls. Kyungsoo ran over and positioned himself between the door and the man.

“I keep my private stuffs in there,” he said, it was the first thing that had come into his mind as he hastily thought of a reason not to let him open the door.

“And I’ll respect that,” the man said politely, “I’ll be quick, I promise.”

He pushed Kyungsoo aside and turned the doorknob. Kyungsoo stood right beside the man as both of them stared into the darkness with wide eyes. Then, Kyungsoo saw it. And he knew the man had seen it too.

Bright green eyes glowed in the dark like mini spotlights.

It was the first time Kyungsoo had seen Jongin like this. He was big. Dark black fur covered all of his body. He opened his mouth wide and snarled. His white sharp teeth glinted. His claws scraped against the wooden floorboard as he moved towards them both. His eyes turned red as he crouched down and prepared to pounce.

The both of them stood frozen at the doorframe, unable to move. But Kyungsoo knew that he needed to act quickly. His biggest concern now isn’t how to deal with the werewolf but how to keep Jongin’s secret. Before the man could yell, Kyungsoo clamped his hand over his mouth. He could hear his muffled screams under his hand.

“I’m so sorry I have to do this,” Kyungsoo whispered. The man looked at him with eyes full of shock and confusion. There were tears in Kyungsoo’s eyes. He squeezed them tight as he drove a sharp knife into the young man’s chest. It sunk into his sk
