Photograph [Broken Memories #2]The strap of her very expensive camera hung around her neck as Seungri’s class wandered around the edge of the lake, doing her best to pick out the perfect spot to take a photo of the sunrise. She was cherishing her time away from Sehun, who still hadn’t woken up yet and would therefore have to take another morning class. Only Jinri and a few others like Junmyeon and Jungkook had bothered to wake up early enough to get these beautiful pictures.
“So why would you tell everyone that Naeun likes Gikwang? She must be so embarrassed now,” Seungwan asked.
Jinri’s eyes turned up at the corners at the mention of what had happened the previous night. “Gikwang likes her back and don’t tell me I don’t know because I do. I heard him and Taecyeon talking about the hottest girls at camp the other night.”
Seungwan raised an eyebrow at this. She would have never guessed that he actually liked Naeun back with the way he acted. He never showed favoritism towards her or acted as if he wanted anything other than a platonic relationship with any camper at all. She hoped that it would all work out for the two of them once they had a chance to talk it out.
“Can I ask you something?” a voice said from behind her. She turned around, coming face to face with Kim Junmyeon.
Junmyeon was one of those nice looking boys with the clean cut hair parted to the side, the modest clothing and a friendly face. He was standing with his hip jutted out to the side with a smile on his face, which honestly made Seungwan feel uncomfortable. No one could possibly be that happy in the morning.
“Sure,” she replied.
“I don’t know if you’ve noticed but this last year I started going to your school,” Junmyeon said. “I was just wondering, is it true that Bae Joohyun has a boyfriend?”
It seemed as if the surprises just couldn’t stop coming and she wished there was some way she could see these things coming because maybe there would be a better way she could respond to them. She could have smiled politely and gave him a straight answer but the absurdity of the question itself amused her and she ended up laughing at his face. She felt bad for the look of surprise on his face following her laughter but as far as she knew there was no rumor that Joohyun had a boyfriend. She had no idea how Junmyeon had gotten this idea but she was actually more baffled by the fact that Junmyeon was going to their school.
“Why haven’t I seen you around?” Seungwan asked, after she forced herself to stop laughing.
“Well, I’m not as popular as you and your friends. I usually hang out with the nerdy guys like Do Kyungsoo. I met him at chess club but apparently he’s friends with Park Sooyoung and he said you lot aren’t that intimidating but I’m really shy so I’ve never approached you,” Junmyeon stammered. He was about to continue but Seungwan spoke before he could give her useless information. The only thing she cared about was that he was interested in Joohyun.
“You’re going to get along with us just fine. Give me your number and I’ll contact you later this summer and you will come when I call if you want me to introduce you to her. Don’t screw this chance up.” She handed him her phone and shared a smile with Jinri at how funny this whole situation was.
Junmyeon did as she asked, barely unable to contain his excitement. Seungwan took her phone back and watched him go back to where Jungkook and Seungri were.
The sky filled with breathtaking hues of pink and orange, showing us how light a new day could start out. Every day held a thousand possibilities and a thousand surprises that could changed someone’s life, sometimes for the better and other times for the worse. She saw the beauty of a new day and thought in that moment if other people, like shy and soft-spoken Junmyeon could take the leap to a
