“Do you remember this?”

“Yes, I do, Kyungsoo. This was where I spent most of my time practicing dancing.”

You and Kyungsoo were standing in front of an old 2 story floor building. The building has long been last fixed as seen by the broken windows and ceiling. This building used to be crème in color however, since it wasn’t well-maintained, it has now turned ivory. Although this building looks old, it seemed that memories of your good childhood days especially when you practiced dancing a lot seem like they were just yesterday. The dance studio, which was at the 2nd floor, was where you spent most of your years perfecting your art.

“Do you want to go in? I think the studio’s still up there.”  You nodded. Kyungsoo went ahead inside the building and you followed. While you were walking past the halls, flashbacks came to you as to how you struggled each day, in 10 years, going to this building every after school since you wanted to be the best dancer not just in your town, but in the whole world. You’ve had a lot of injuries and sprains since you never pity yourself even if you’ve pushed yourself too much. You still think that you’re not good enough, even if you had been one of the very best. But you were not contented by this that’s why you kept practicing and practicing for years. You must admit, however, that when you received your letter that you were not accepted in your dream university, you felt that your hardwork for 10 years never paid off. You thought that you were a failure. Good thing you had Kyungsoo back then who made sure that you’re not a failure and you were the best dancer as well as the best girlfriend that one could ever have but, he was wrong. You still feel that you’re a failure, especially after achieving nothing after all these years. You were the worst dancer since you gave up your dream of going abroad when you had the chance. And you were the worst girlfriend since you left Kyungsoo for your own selfish reasons and because the person you loved the most left you for the reason that you don’t even have the slightest idea about. But you’re the luckiest person since Kyungsoo has always been here for you.

Both of you were already at the second floor and the first door to your right was the entrance to the studio. You turned the dusty door knob and opened the door, revealing the old studio. The studio was still surrounded with mirrors and the floor still had the mat where you practiced each step diligently until you perfected every single routine. To the farthest side of the room, it still had the piano where musical pieces were played while you danced to every note gracefully which impressed not only your fellow dancers but also your mentors.

You walked to the center of the studio which was your favorite spot. You have always loved the feeling of being the center of attention in dancing since it gave you the confidence that you never knew you had. You closed your eyes and remembered your very first dance piece when you were a child. It was your favorite piece even if you’ve done a lot of error but you didn’t care since it was just about the pure innocence and joy of your childhood. You couldn’t help but smile, still, with your eyes closed. Kyungsoo was then in front of you. He has never seen you smile like this ever since you saw each other again. He remembered the very first time he made you genuinely smile.

It was a Sunday afternoon when you decided to go to the dance studio after failing the dance exam in your school. You were so convinced that you did your best but maybe your instructor was just hard on you that’s why she wasn’t able to appreciate your routine. You were already near the studio when you suddenly realized that you left your CD which has the piece that you were practicing for days. It took you half an hour to be where you were right now and you didn’t want to go back home just for the CD. You thought that it would waste your time intended for practice if you go back home so you just went straight to the studio and just do some counting and polishing even without music.

You were already outside the building until you saw a familiar guy. It was the guy who handed you your handkerchief! He was staring at the building as if he was looking for someone. Since you were so thankful for his kind gesture that time, you walked to him to say thank you. He was humming to some song before he noticed that you were already beside him. He turned to you and you couldn’t help but giggle since he gave you that surprised look with his huge eyes. He was really surprised when he saw you.
