Let Me Know Where Your Heart BelongsLike A Drama
I overheard two girls giggling about the arrival of new students as I made my way to class.
"I heard they're all really hot and talented."
"Me too. Apparently one of them has the voice of an angel and another can dance like-"
I tuned them out as I approached the classroom. The voice of an angel. The phrase unsettled my heart, making me think of past memories. More than one person can have the voice an angel in this world, Hyomyun. That doesn't mean he's back.
My head filled with thoughts of him and me before he left. No matter how much I scolded myself for thinking of him, I still had dreams of the old days; the time when I was certain the person I would spend the rest of my life with would be him.
The bell rang, removing me from my thoughts. The other students started piling into the room and taking their seats. The girls from before were still giggling about the new kids while they went to go sit in the back.
The teacher came in, asking all of us to quiet down. She stood in the front of the room and smiled, gesturing for someone to enter. I looked down at the work on my desk, ignoring the minor uproar when he entered, a part of me becoming secretly excited.
“Class, we have a new student with us. Please introduce yourself.”
“Hello, everyone. I’m Jeon Jungkook. Please treat me kindly.”
My eyes shot up to the front to find him bowing. When he stood back up my mind went completely blank. I heard faint whispers of girls all around me and saw the teacher gesture to a desk across the room.
It’s him. Jungkook is back.
He looked the same as before, only more mature. His face was less round and his body had proportioned out. He still had the same perfectly pointed nose and soft spoken brown eyes.
Does he recognize me?
I looked over my right shoulder at him after he took his seat; he had his hands in his pockets and was slouching back in his desk. He leaned his head over the back of his chair and rested it on the desk behind him, closing his eyes. The girl sitting there squealed quietly and began fanning her face. He opened his eyes and smiled up at her.
“Mind if I use your desk?” He asked. She nodded, her cheeks flushing. He closed his eyes again, his smile turning into a smirk.
Well, he certainly hasn’t changed. I shook my head mentally and turned back to looking over my work.
He really has returned.
I found myself smiling.
