The man stepped into the center of the room, the ragged sound of his breathing shook my body.

"The book. I need it." His voice was raspy. Every word he made a glow of gold wold form in smoke around the mask. It was terrifying.

Within a second he was in front of me, holding me by the collar.

I flinched. "I-I don't have it..." I attempted to say in my most confident voice but it was hardly audible beneath the crackles of fire and the breaking of the apartment structure.
