"It didn't look like it was going to rain… I should have gone straight home"

Hae Yeon sighed as she dug into her bag for an umbrella. 

She had stopped by the convenience store after work to grab some snacks when it suddenly
began to pour heavily. Her phone rang just as she was about to walk home, and she picked up
upon seeing that it was her cousin who was calling.

"Kyu oppa…"

"Did you bring along your umbrella? The rain around our area doesn't look like it's going to stop any time soon"

"Yes I did. You sound like my mum… I'm almost home"

"Speaking of which, have you visited your parents?"

"I met Omma for lunch last week"

"Your dad?"

"Haven't spoken to him"

"Even though you work in the same hospital?!"

"I've seen him around several times but he's always busy.
There's no need to acknowledge him as my father within the hospital anyway"

"He's still your dad after all"

"Oppa, I'll catch up with you another day"

Hae Yeon's POV
I'm sorry for hanging up like this Oppa.
It'll take some time before I'm able to talk to him again...

"Hyung, does your doctor girl happen to live around this area?"

Hyung Jun asked Young Saeng when a familiar looking person walked past the van they were seated in.

The team was out on a late night stake out, and it was a rainy night just as the weather forecast had indicated.

"You know you won't get any information out of me. And she's a friend"

"But I just saw someone who looked like her"

"It's raining and visibility is poor, you must have been mistaken"

Young Saeng's POV
She's on the night shift this week so she wouldn't be around at this hour.
It can't be such a coincidence.

"Suspect spotted at 9 o'clock of Area 2"

Despite his self assurance that she was still at work, the tension within Young Saeng grew
as a voice sounded over the walkie talkie.

"Seems like suspect has located his target. All personnel please stand by"

The duo got off the van immediately and were approaching the specified location when a
scream was heard. Young Saeng began running towards the direction where the sound came
from and was in time to see a figure disappearing into a corner.

"The alley on the left!"

The man was attempting to take off the clothes of the struggling woman as they arrived and
Young Saeng rushed forward swiftly to grab him.

"Hae Yeon ah…"

He gasped at the sight of a sobbing Hae Yeon and began throwing punches at the man he was holding onto.

"Hyung! Stop!"

Seeing that the usually level headed captain had lost his cool, Hyung Jun stepped in immediately
to pull him off and slipped the handcuffs over the man's wrists.

"You're arrested for attempted . Bring him back to the station"

Hyung Jun handed the criminal to his fellow colleagues who had arrived at the scene and moved
to another spot to wait while Young Saeng comforted the still traumatized Hae Yeon. 

He could hardly believe that the case they were working on had ended up involving someone they knew.

And he was sure Young Saeng was extremely upset at himself for failing to protect the woman he obviously
had a soft spot for, though he had been denying his feelings.

"It's ok, you're safe now"

"I-I was so afraid…"

Young Saeng put his coat over Hae Yeon and pulled her into an embrace, patting her back at the same
time to calm her down. 

His heart ached at the thought of not being able to keep her out of harm, and he made up his mind to
give the criminal a hard time during the interrogation process.

Even though a part of him was reluctant to bring her back to the station, he knew he had to get to work
as soon as she recovered.

And he was going to have to face his boss over his impulsive actions.

"Don't worry, I'm here with you now"

"Where were you on the night of 25 October?"

"Home"

"You're still not gonna cooperate?"

"I told you I was at home! Ahhh!"

Young Saeng grabbed the collar of the suspect and was about to land a fist on his face when Hyung Jun
entered the room and managed to stop him in time.

"Hyung, that's enough. I'll take over from here"

"I'm not done with him yet"

"The chief wants to speak to you"

Young Saeng headed to the office grudgingly and braced himself for the lecture that was about to come.

He wasn't sure what had gotten into him at the scene, but his hands just moved on their own when he saw
that it was Hae Yeon who had fallen prey to their targeted suspect.

"This is a first… what happened to you?"

"…"

The chief sighed as his favorite disciple remained silent and motioned for him to take a seat instead of
standing by the desk. He never had to worry about him getting into trouble since the day he took him in,
and it definitely took him by surprise this time.

"Young Saeng ah…"

"I have no excuse for what I've done"

"How is the girl related to you?"

"She's a friend"

"Since there's a friend involved, you're taken off this case. And the suspect has lodge a complaint,
so I have no choice but to suspend you for a week. Do you understand?"

"Yes"

"Take this time to have a good rest and clear your mind"
