A little butthurt, are we?
A Fan Fiction Writer's GuideIf someone gives you constructive criticism in the comments, don't say "that's just how I write."
Honey, there is a difference between writing style and not knowing things.
Sorry to be rude, but I remember giving a suggestion to someone because they were overusing the word "whilst" and it appeared in literally every paragraph they wrote and I commented kindly saying "I don't think you should use 'whilst' too much because it's getting a little repetitive." And they respond, "thanks but that's how I write."
That's not style, overusing words unless it is to build mood (i.e. Edgar Allen Poe uses repetition to build suspense and mood) and the word "whilst" doesn't exactly build up mood. Style is many different things, but it's not repetitive words that do not benefit the story in any way shape or form.
The point is, don't be butthurt if someone gives you constructive criticism. Take it in as a learning tool to become a better writer because if you keep rejecting, you may never grow as one, or you'll progress a lot slower than the ones who do take constructive criticism.
The only time you can be butthurt is when someone is plain rude saying things like "It !" And they can't even tell you why. Then you can get all up in arms, but don't be mean back. That doesn't fix anything.
