Commonly Confused Words pt. 1
A Fan Fiction Writer's GuideKnow the difference between quite, quiet, and quit.
Quite and quiet get mixed up often probably because they both have an "e" in them.
Here's how to know the difference:
Quite: actually, really, and truly.*
I think of this word as "dainty." When it's said, it's said quickly while "quiet" is dragged out because all of its vowels are pronounced. I know, it's not very helpful to remember the meaning, but I hope it prevents you from getting it confused with "quiet."
Quiet: refers to volume.
To say this word, it takes a little more time, like how when you sneak, to be QUIET, you have to take a longer time to do it.
Quit: basically means STOP.
