Chapter 3

After her request to work with her mother, Tiffany had moved into the servant quarter. From her little room in the guest wing with the minimal furniture, she upgraded into a larger room. She was walking down the hallway with her little bag of clothes & her stuffed Totoro, Mushie. That was when she began to realize that the house was really big. She was never allowed to enter this section of the house. She only played in the garden & talked with Bora in the family room. Her mother never told her why & she never asked. Now, she was beginning to wonder why had her mother forbid her to enter this hallway? She had looked down this hallway. It looked the same as the other one. What is here?

“Princess, hurry. Mommy still has some bed to tidy up. Come on, dear.” Insook turned around & spoke to her little princess.

“Sowwy, mommy. I’m coming.” Tiffany then hurriedly caught up with her mother. As they were walking, she noticed a hallway that intersected the one they were currently in. They passed by it quickly. She stared & then ran up to her mother & tugged on her sleeve, ‘Mommy. What’s that there? Why is it so dark there?” She asked in her tiny voice.

“Nothing, princess. Now, come along. It’s just up ahead. Come now.” Insook took ahold of her daughter’s hand & guided her to their room. Upon entering it, Tiffany gasped.

“Mommy. Its so big.” She ran up to the bed & jumped on it, “Hehe, Mushie, look. This woom pwitty.” Shaking her little totoro, she laughed & her eyes sparkled. The room wasn’t that large but to the little child, the room was like a whole house.

Insook smiled & shook her head. Then she whispered to herself, “This daughter of mine will never grow up.” Then to Tiffany, “Princess, mommy has things to tend to. You can go play in the garden if you want.” “Alwight, mommy. Come on, mushie. We play in the fwowers.” With that, she got off the bed quickly & ran out of the door & down the long hallway into the garden, giggling all the way.

“Be careful! Don’t hurt yourself!” Insook yelled to her daughter.

“Alwight, mommy.” Her voice faded away as she turned the corner. Insook smiled again, & headed towards the master quarter.
