Please Don't Cry Ch. 13

               Our End?

               It was nice to know that the older man had taken a liking to Hyungsoo. Sungyeol's father immediately soften when Mrs. Lee placed baby Hyungsoo in his arms. His strict exterior slowly melting as he look at the baby with joyful eyes. Baby Hyungsoo cooed in his grandfather's arms as Mr. Lee rocked the baby gently. The baby looked so delicate and precious staring back at him with sleepy eyes. Sungyeol and Hyungsoo had been discharged together from the hospital and the first place they stop after was at the Lee's house.

                L protectively sat by Sungyeol's side asked them to sit down for a talk.  Sungyeol was afraid his father would once again oppose of his and L's relationship as well as not accept the baby. The taller brunette stared at his father in anticipation. L intertwine their fingers as they sat waiting for Mr. Lee to began his speech.

               "L I would like to apologize for my behavior in the past. My wife had told me about the situation, and now I know you had no fault in this matter at all." Mr. Lee began, " Still I can't say I 100% support yours and Sungyeol's relationship. I'm grateful that you want to take responsibility for him, but I think it's better if Sungyeol and the baby stay here at home, after all we are his family. I don't think I can trust something similar doesn't happen to Sungyeol again with you...how can I ensure that you won't get tired and abandon Sungyeol..."

               "No, Sir! I assure you that will not happen." L said firmly, but Mr. Lee didn't seem convinced.

               "But Hyungsoo is not your child...am I right?" Mr. Lee asked making Sungyeol freeze on the spot, but L didn't seem to waver.

               "I see him as mine. Isn't that what's important?" L answered.

               "If you put it like that, then for this one time I'll trust that you keep your word. I hope you'll take care of our Sungyeol and the baby then." Mr. Lee nodded slowly accepting L's words. Seeing his determination help Sungyeol's father to loosen his guard a bit. The two ate lunch at Sungyeol's family house before heading back to their apartment.

               L was busy carrying the baby basket and diaper bag as Sungyeol carried Hyungsoo. Sungyeol was quiet when they walked towards the bus. L look at Sungyeol closely as the other boy seem to be distracted by his own thoughts.

               Sungyeol couldn't help but be bothered by his father's words. He was glad that Mr. Lee finally accepted their relationship, and most of all showed love for Hyungsoo, but he couldn't help but think about his father's concerns. Hyungsoo isn't L's son. Although he believes L mean everything he said, but L is still young, one day what if he actually regrets his decision in being with Sungyeol.

               In silence L notice Sungyeol's expression changing from neutral to concern, then sadness. They got onto the semi crowded bus, and both could feel strangers staring at them with judgmental eyes. L knew exactly what they were thinking since both Sungyeol and him still looked very young. Ignoring them L guarded Sungyeol from their stares as the taller boy took the seat with Hyungsoo. Sungyeol still looked dejected sitting quietly on the bus. The Stone Prince took a moment to Sungyeol's hair away from his face catching the boy's attention.

               "I love you." L simply said subtly smiling at Sungyeol and his cheeks. "That's all that matters doesn't neh?"

               Sungyeol smiled weakly nodding. L always so gentle to him that it made his heart ached. What he  feared most of all now is one day L wouldn't feel the same anymore, and he would leave because of all the burden that was not his to bare from the beginning.

               L smiled when they entered their rented apartment. Placing the baby carrier down along with the bag he immediately took Hyungsoo into his arms and smiled at the child with a full on dimply smile. He look at Hyungsoo with full interests as if the baby was the biggest treasure in the world.  

               "Go rest, you must be tired." He instructed Sungyeol kissing him on the head, " I'll watch the baby."

               Sungyeol nodded and about to make his way to the bed room eyes still studying L and Hyungsoo. He stopped half way.

               "L ah...maybe...you should not be with me." Sungyeol cautiously say with all his courage. He knew he could've pissed of L by saying things like that, but after thinking and rethinking about it, even if L doesn't mind it still wasn't fair for the boy. L had a bright future, he was clean, and most of all he didn't have to get himself involved in the mess that is Lee Sungyeol. It didn't help that L would be stuck with him whenever they're in public with people's passing stares, and judgments.

               "You really want to break up with me?" L said seriously his tone turning cold. Sungyeol couldn't answer the other brunette because his chest was hurting like crazy, and he was fighting back tears. He knew he was hurting both of them, but perhaps it was better to let L go now before it's too late, before another life is ruined.

               "Emhm..."Sungyeol barely made a sound as he stood there not facing L. He saw L's figure pass through the room and placing Hyungsoo down in the crib. The other brunette walked out hastily without looking at Sungyeol and headed out the door.

               Sungyeol felt his legs failing him as he broke down. He knew he should let himself get a chance at happiness with L but really it wasn't fair for the other boy at all, even if L insisted, and never complained, even if the other boy loved Hyungsoo like his own.

               L had been gone for hours. Sungyeol didn't bother keeping track of time. It was his fault, and he was sure that he probably pissed off the other boy and maybe he's already sick of his negativity, and doubts. Maybe L will not comeback anymore, just the thought tore him to pieces. Sungyeol eyes were now swollen because he had cried for the last few hours since L left.

               Hyungsoo was a good baby and had slept through his parents' drama to Sungyeol's relief. The tall boy stood over the crib gently rubbing his baby's back.

               "Hyungsoo-ah...will you be mad at me for shooing away Appa?" Sungyeol said sadly feeling the tears form again. He knew what he did was completely stupid, even though he regretted it, and would probably regret it for the rest of his life at least for L's sake it was the right thing to do.

               "I really love him a lot...aegi...what am I going to do?"

               A loud sound abruptly shocked Sungyeol as he felt a force pulled him back. He turned around to come face to face with his boyfriend. L grabbed him abruptly pulling him into a tight hug. He felt the other boy fumble through his pockets as he grabbed Sungyeol's left hand. Sungyeol felt a small hard object slide on his finger.

               "Just say yes." L said in his rough voice, his breath was uneven. It seem like he had ran all the way back and now the brunette was out of breath.

               Sungyeol felt his heart beat faster as he looked down to his hand. A shiny silver band had now wrapped itself around his left ring finger. He stared at his hand and balled it to see the object clearer.

               "...L..."

               He found himself clinging onto L tighter now as he bury his face into the boy's shoulders. He never wanted to let go.

               "Is that a yes?" L said to his ear as Sungyeol nodded repeated into his chest. L could feel Sungyeol's tears soaking his black T-shirt.

               "Shh...shh don't cry anymore baby." L said rubbing along Sungyeol's back.

               Sungyeol continued to hold onto L as if his life depended on it before L moved them into the bedroom.

                *Flashback

               L felt his heart raced as he stormed out the door after hearing Sungyeol's words. He never felt so desperate to want to show the other boy his feelings before. Somehow still it wasn't getting through to Sungyeol. The taller boy's words hurt him a lot not because Sungyeol wanted to break up with him, but because Sungyeol wasn't allowing himself to be loved. He isn't about to give up on Sungyeol that easily.

               He raced down the steps running into the crowded business district. At this time it was hard to find the place he was hoping to go to. He had passed by it many times for the past few months. Every time he found himself stopping by the window display and eyeing the beautiful shiny objects in the display box and imagining how it would look on Sungyeol's fingers.

               L felt desperate for time, he had thought about proposing for a long time, but they were so caught up with many things that nothing seemed like the right time. If he didn't act quickly he might not even get a chance.

               Looking at his watch he noticed he had been running for almost an hour from the apartment down to the business district. Making a turn around the corner a familiar shop caught his eye as he entered the fashion district. Running with all his might L made his way towards the entrance. L pulled on the glass doors in dismay. It was locked. There was still lights inside and he saw the figure of the shop owner wandering inside. Desperately he banged on the doors to receive a nonchalant stare in return from the person inside. He hoped that they didn't mistaken him for a con-artist or a robber.

               *knock knock knock*

               "Please Ahjusshi! Ahjusshi ! Just open the door! I'm a customer!" L called out at the Jewelry shop owner.

               *Knock knock knock*

               The owner huffed upon seeing that L wasn't going to give up and made his way to open the door.

               "I'm sorry young man but we're closed. Please come back again tomorrow." The owner said before closing the door.

               "N..No! Ahjusshi please I can't tomorrow! Please !"L pleaded.

               The man sighed deeply and opened the door to let L inside.

               "Thank you!" L said gratefully making his way in. The shop owner felt bad for him as he studied L's features. The boy was breathing heavily and running in the cold had made his cheeks and nose rosy.

               "So...What are you looking to buy?" The owner questioned before taking out the merchandise that he had put away a few moments ago.

               "A ring! I'm looking for an engagement ring." L said surprising the older man since L was still a highschooler, but customers were customers and he didn't want to question their intent.

               After picking out the perfect ring and paying L diligently headed out the doors and back to the apartment. The jewelry shop owner stared at the eager boy's figure as he ran out the shop making a turn around the corner and going into the distance.
