As soon as I arrived in Seoul I found out that my Father had sent one of his men to be my butler. Obviously, his role is to be my Father’s eyes and ears and not only that, but to sort of control me too.

“Young Master, you have a phone call from your Father”

I received the phone from the butler whose name I still don’t know of.

“Yes, Father?”

[I couldn’t contact you]

“I just arrived in Seoul and my phone has been dead since this morning”

[I have sent Xiao Nai there to look after you]

“Father, didn’t we agree that I’d be on my own here?” I clarified.

[Yes, we did. But after your stint two nights ago, I had to make sure your mind is where it should be. Let me remind you, Yifan. You are not there to have fun. You are there for official business. Unless, I see that you and I are in the same mindset Xiao Nai will be with you. This is non-negotiable]

“I understand, Father”

[How are the boys of EXO, Yifan?]

“They are fine, Father. I’ve managed to know them and exert my leadership over them” I answered curtly over the phone.

[How about your studies?]

“It has only been a month since we started here Father. I still couldn’t give an assessment whether I’m on top of our class or not. But, I have found no difficulty in class so far”

[How about adapting to the language and culture?]

“The boys have helped me a lot on that matter Father”

[How about the girl named Kim Taeyeon? I know she’s the reason why you went off the radar two nights ago] my father asks. I clenched my teeth as I try to think of what better answer I should give my father.

“She’s just a mere tutor Father” was the answer that I decided to give him. I heard my Father cluck his tongue from the other line.

[I know she’s your beloved Nana’s granddaughter. I know she’s smart and was able to defeat you two years ago. I know you know how capable I am in getting my hands on information that I want]

“Don’t touch her, Father. I’d do whatever you want just don’t touch her-” I said desperately before I could even realize it.

My father snickered upon hearing my desperation. [Has she become your weakness already, Yifan?]

[I raised you better than that] he snarls. [Let me reiterate it you son. You are the future of Wu Corp. I raised this empire to where it is now and I’m not letting you and your stupidity to cause this empire of mine to crumble down to ashes] he threatened me

[Am I understood, Yifan?]

“I understand, Father. But just don’t touch her, Father” I responded.

I could imagine the disbelief painted on my Father’s face as I ask him once more to spare Taeyeon, not to touch her and spare her from more cruelty than what she is in now. I thought he would raise his voice and scold me. But to my disbelief he was calm when he replied,

[For the sake of Nana who raised you well, I will spare her granddaughter. This is not because of you. Prove yourself worthy to me Kris and then I’d let you decide for yourself. If you can do that then for as long as I live, Kim Taeyeon will be out of my grasp]

My Father hangs up immediately and I let out a sigh of relief as the call ended.

What the hell am I putting myself into?

“I don’t believe my father is simply letting Taeyeon go because of Nana” I told Lu Han and Yixing. The two of them are currently in my place simply lounging like they own the place but I couldn’t care any less.

Yixing looks up and replied, “can’t you have a little faith on your Father?”

It was expected of Yixing to answer that way. Even if he was always scared of my Father he still tries to look at the brighter and more positive possibilities behind my Father’s actions.

I looked towards Lu Han’s direction, the deer was unusually silent.

“Hey, Lu! It’s your time to speak now” I called up getting his attention. “Speak about what?” he asked seeming a bit lost, surprising both me and Yixing.

“Wow, that’s the first time you seem lost, Lu” I remarked. “What’s keeping you occupied there?” I asked as I stood up from my seat and walked towards him. But before I could walk any closer Lu Han already closed down his laptop.

“It’s just Jessica” he lied.

I know he was lying.

I can tell.

I don’t know why he’d lie. I can only guess that he’s lying to protect someone.

But I’m not someone who’s as nosy as him, so I just let it slip.

“Wow. Are you getting serious with her?” Yixing asked excitedly obviously deceived by Lu Han’s lie. “Are you kidding me right now, Lu? You’re getting serious with that girl?” I joined in.

Lu Han just gave a sheepish smile.

“Should we make a bet on this?” I suggested.

“Kris, that’s bad” Yixing answered back.

“What? It’s just to test if our friend here has finally decided to follow your flock or is this just a moment of confusion” I reasoned.

“Stop it already, you two” Lu Han chastised. “We’re still testing the waters, okay? I mean, it’s nice to have someone who will dote on you after a stressful day” Lu Han explained.

“ew, dude. You sound like Yixing now” I sneered. Lu Han only laughed while Yixing obviously got pissed. Before Yixing could talk back to me, Lu Han spoke up. “Well, what were you talking about Kris?” Lu Han asked getting back on the topic that we left off.

“Oh yeah. I was asking you guys what your opinion is regarding my Father agreeing to let Taeyeon off”

“There are two possible things” Lu Han started to explain. “One, it’s to control you. And two, he sees some other use for Taeyeon aside from controlling you. For example, destroying the Choi’s”
