Chapter 9: Project Planning
My Bestfriend, My LoveThat dreaded question. Ella could only stare at him, well, she had expected this to happen anyway but now that it finally came she couldn’t even think straight ‘Well, prepare for endless lies and denials Wu Chun… its better this way…’
“Maybe, I mean whenever I have business meetings I always greet my colleagues. Businessman and woman know that Ella how could you not?” Wu Chun smirked
‘He’s obviously taking advantage of the situation!’ Ella thought angrily. Before she began she heaved off a scoff “Of course I do, it’s just that the was-it-fun-without-me part irked me the most” she then eyed him bravely “Other than that, I had the best days of my life” ultimate lie right there “How about you? Was it fun without me?” she returned the question back to him
“Not quite” he said “It was pretty boring without you, all these girls kept pestering me. There was no you to shove them away” a big fat lie came from Chun’s mouth ‘There was no you to cheer me up, there was no you to chase my fears away, there was no one like you to be there by my side. I missed you’ he thought again and again but couldn’t manage to say it out loud
‘Bastard!’ Ella thought furiously. “Well, at least you had no one in your way to happiness. You should thank me because if I hadn’t migrated there’d still be someone tagging along with you like an idiot and your girls wouldn’t have you all to themselves” she sipped the water that was prepared beforehand
“Like an idiot? How could you say that to yourself?” Wu Chun said out of the blue which confused Ella
“What?” Ella raised a brow, she was now feeling chaotic inside ‘What exactly is this man thinking? Did he actually like it better when I wasn’t around or what he said in the Wu’s mansion was actually right?’ she thought endlessly but she believed the first opinion better. There would be no way that Chun would’ve wanted her by his side. It just didn’t feel right for Chun to actually want her with him, the thought was just intolerable
“Nothing” he said flatly “Why don’t we just proceed to the actual meeting” he diverted the whole conversation into a more serious discussion. Ella felt relieved; all those personal matters are far too much to talk about right now. It wasn’t that important anyway… well at least for now, soon enough they will have to talk about it whether they would like it or not
“Sure” with an exhale, Ella asked the waiter if they had a paper and a pen for her to write. The waiter gladly gave it to her and she started jotting down possible ideas for the project but suddenly Chun reached out to stop her
“Actually, before we start…” he smiled “What’s a restaurant without any food?” he clapped his hands and after 2 seconds, 2 waiters came bringing the food that Chun had ordered for both of them
‘Could’ve said that earlier rather than asking me questions that I vow not to answer’ she thought annoyingly but her eyes were directly shifted to the food that had just arrived “Lasagne!” she yipped in glee “I haven’t had these in ages!” she grabbed her utensils and scooped a mouthful “YUM!” she was so into the food that she forgot about all the things that had happened a while ago
Chun on the other hand started to eat as well ‘I knew it. She can never resist a personal favourite’ he smiled happily and constantly looked at her while eating. He found it amazing at how Ella turns into a little kid when eating lasagne.
While she was so engrossed with the food in front of her, there was something else that bothered her ‘How can he still remember my favourite food?’ she thought for a second but shooed the thought away
