The Chen’s arrived at the Wu’s place at exactly 7:00 pm. Ella looked around her surroundings, nothing changed. She saw the swing at the backyard where she and Chun would play, she smiled at the memories, and how times had changed. Ella shook her head lightly to distract herself from tearing up and proceeded towards the humongous doors of the Wu’s mansion.

The doorbell rang. “It must be them!” Charlene excitedly rushed to the door

“Chars!!” Ellen greeted her best friend

“Ells!!” Charlene approached her and hugged her best friend tightly

“How are you? I haven’t seen you in a very long time” Ellen together with the rest of the family went into the house and sat at the living room.

“I’ve been good thank you, I really missed you” Charlene once again hugged Ellen tightly

“Aiya! You two are making me jealous” Chase Wu interrupted “How have you all been? Edison? Ella? I’m glad you two came this time, you missed the last dinner we had a year ago” Chase shook hands with Edison and kissed Ella in the cheek.

“I know, it’s been really hectic in the company, well I’m glad Ella here is going to take over soon, I’m sure she’ll make me proud” Edison said

“Oh Ella my darling baby! I missed you so much!” Charlene kissed Ella’s cheeks while Ella did the same to her as well “I’m happy that your finally back home, you are gorgeous, well I thought you’ve always been but your prettier now! Anyways how was America?” Charlene praised Ella a million times as well as bombarding her with questions

“Hi Wu Chun! How has it been?” Edison offered a handshake to Chun and tapped his back

“It’s been great uncle” Chun flashed his most handsome smile that made Ella drool but she it back quickly to avoid embarrassment

“Wu Chun, the son I never had, how have you been?” Ellen kissed Chun’s cheek. She had always wanted Chun to be his son since the very beginning.

“I’m good Auntie, thank you so much for coming” Chun’s eyes shifted to the girl whom he missed the most. “Hi Elle, it’s been a long time” Chun smiled forcefully to Ella and made his way to give her a kiss on the cheek. Every step was nerve wracking, the nearer he was to her, the harder it was to face reality, the reality that everything has changed… completely. As he approached her, he noticed every single detail that had changed. Her nerdy glasses…gone, her fashion…transformed, the jewellery, the makeup, she wasn’t the old Ella, and this was his entire fault. ‘I don’t know this girl. Ella could only look at him sternly but she fixed her facial expression and replied to his greeting “It has hasn’t it?” her lips formed into a smirk making the atmosphere somewhat uncomfortable for both Chun and the rest of the elders who watched the staring game that has commenced. Feeling the awkward atmosphere Chase cleared his throat

“I think the food is ready, we should eat now” he let off an awkward smile

“Yes let’s eat” Chun signalled the others to the dining table
